Best video on this channel so far, I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish, great to see that Roman had risen from nothing to such a great level
After Roman returned after being cleared. He returned to cheers for recovering, but after that he just got lukewarm putty applause. Not boos. People felt bad booing a leukemia survivor. Turning heel flipped people from feeling indirect in him to interested.
Ehhh, he got some boos there. As a matter of fact, a lot of them called him a liar and made a bunch of stories that the Leukemia was an angle. That failed miserably for them.
They didn’t say that to him. But they did put it online to Roman’s daughter, who had absolutely nothing to do with it. Lana/CJ Perry had the same situation.
Roman Reigns truly was a genius.. no matter if you hate or love him, he truly proves his skills off right and is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of his generation. He's truly one of my favorites
Mad respect for Roman and the WWE execs for rewriting this storyline and making it work. I wouldn't have believed it if I had seen it. Beloved villain is as accurate a description with how his career has turned out.

He was forced to be John Cena 2.0 but he lacked the mic skills and wasn't as charismatic at the time. He had bad promos which wasn't completely his fault though, Vince McMahon forced him to say ridiculous stuff like the infamous "suffering succotash" promo. This video is great, I love it. An appropriate and detailed dive into the very weird history of Roman Reigns and his start, drop, and rise. It's a little weird when I think about the fact that when he retires, most people will remember these moments, but not everyone will remember he wasn't liked for half of them. I saw a post on twitter mentioning how many manias hes headlined, then a response saying he shouldn't have headlined most of those. But the fact he did is all that will be remembered in another decade or two. This will be a good Wwe history lesson.
The fact he’s done 800 days and no one complains but respects him shows he come a long way he’s changed his whole look and aura back if it was 2015 and he was champion for 300 days the fans would of been raging lol
Even if we complain nothing is going to change Vince continues to shove him down our throats nothing has changed honestly heel turn or not in fact his push is worse now holding both belts which makes absolutely no sense raw is suffering in the ratings
Exactly. Even Roman himself stated in a Fox interview that he always wanted to be a heel and that all Shield members agreed that Seth should've been the emerging babyface once the group disbanded. And he was right - he is a lot more natural and realistic as a heel than he ever was as a babyface. Seth screams babyface whereas everything about Roman screams heel.
Seth is also a better heel than a face but I agree with you face Seth is better than face roman 😂 roman looks like a heel even when he was showed as baby face
"The fans don't like being told who to like." there's so much profundity in that observation. Lots of Hollywood writers don't get this, even marketing people don't get this.
You are a phenomenal story teller. I stopped watching wwe for a while and your description of this story and even history of the “traditional hero “ was extremely well told and I felt like I didn’t miss a thing. Thanks
My fandom never wavered for this man. He was over just fine, the crowd didn't hate him or feel like he was being forced down their throat...until the royal rumble when Bryan didn't win. Then everyone turned on Roman and hated him, as if it was his fault. That always bothered me. There are many comments on disqus where I let off on the haters. It was when Cena passed the torch to Roman and when Roman was the first ever to trip up Cena and leave him speechless that people started coming around. The cancer scare was of course huge too. People wanted to hate again tho when Roman aligned himself with Heyman at first. But sure enough, his battles with his cousins (especially Jey) was what really got people to finally see what they were over looking all those years. Roman has the "IT" factor. Showed it since NXT. And now, it's undeniable. And now, finally, everyone acknowledges the Tribal Chief.
It took a while to find himself and get to where he is today. Interestingly enough, he had a heel gimmick which felt like a prototype of what the Tribal Chief gimmick that we got in 2020. The turn definitely should have happened sooner. 2017 would have been the ideal time. He beats Undertaker, runs through the entire roster, wins the title at Summerslam & then goes on a 2, 3 year run. Similar to what he's done now, just done 3 years before the pandemic.
Everything happens for a reason. Had it happened sooner, it would be highly unlikely heyman would be with him, he was with Brock at the time. And we wouldn’t have gotten arguably the best part of the bloodline. Sami zayn. Sami wasn’t quite ready in 2017 to be as over as he is now. Roman needed the 3 years or so to improve his promo skills and fine tune this tribal chief character. If it happened in 2017, Vince would have ruined it, making it feel rushed instead of organic. IMO it happened at the perfect time. They needed this turn from Roman to carry them through the pandemic
I really like Roman Reigns no matter what...no matter how people hate him. He stood to be the tough guy, so who cares if the audience hate him. He is the Tribal Chief anyway..the face of WWE. 👍👍👍
My love for Roman began when the shield broke up in 2014 he took on Randy Orton when he was part of the Authority and his win was a massive statement. he has been my Favorite member of the shield and I'm happy he is getting what he deserves after all the booing and bullying from the crowd
Hahahahaha are you f***ing joking? His heel run did not save the wrestling industry it made it worse. His two year reign of terror has been horrible, it's been worse than HHH and Cena reign of terror, at least those guys lost and dropped the title and won it back, but this overrated bum hasn't lost a single match in the last two years.
august 2020 was the beginning of one of the greatest, most successful runs we’ve ever seen. roman has become an all time great and i think we are all so proud of him now
I often comeback to this vid ,and what’s incredible now is that he’s finally getting the cheer they always wanted for him he’s now a top baby face but still keeping his tribal chief persona,it be interesting to get a part 2 please
I really felt bad when people used to boo him. It's not easy taking all the heat after giving it your all. Wwe script writing has deteriorated over the years making wrestlers unable to succeed. Combining reigns with heyman creating bloodline with the usos gave him something the crowd was craving for a good heel. He still excels in it. I hope wwe leave him to continue for few more years with the blood line. For some reason it just works.
If i say something about Roman then, He's getting the praise from the audience, former Wrestlers & legends like Taker for his character work which is he truly deserves now. Best Roman Reigns-2014-2020 I don't know why people didn't like him. He was the best wwe wrestler in that time. He never cheated in that time. He always suffered. Even then people booed him. Shame on😢.
I don't understand why people hate him, I love Roman Reigns he's the one who got me into watching WWE when the shield debuted and when he left for leukemia I quit watching until when he came back
Cena once told reigns in a promo "I don't know if you're blind or stupid, but they(fans) hold the key and they always will". The fans pushed wwe in creating the best version of reigns and one of the best characters in recent times...!!
WWE didn’t make Roman Reigns, he was allowed to do it his way, and that’s what made him the true GOAT! He is as great as Hulk Hogan and far exceeded Cena, not to mention easy in the eyes!
There was sentiment early on that Roman's matches were not worthy to be a maineventer. These days, Roman's matches are must see. His in ring style has evolved so much. His psychology is above everyone else's in the industry. People know he will probably win his matches in the end, but he's so good that there will always be a what-if everytime. He had a classic match with Logan Paul of all people.
I always think this tribal chief character and the “acknowledge me” phrase is Roman reigns character psyche after being rejected so long and his and the company’s urge for him to be acknowledged as the face all those years pushed him to the edge creating a dominant heel persona
All hail the tribal chief 🖤 literally loved roman since I first laid eyes on him. he’s ALWAYS had it in him. He just had to grow into it. He’s up there with the greats now

Rock comes and gives ko the rock bottom. Then the rock and Roman embrace and the rock gives Roman the rock bottom and then looks at Wrestlemania sign. That’s Electrifying
Not gonna lie, WWE beleived in him so much that despite he is the most booed supersstar in the history of the company, they didn't stopped beleiving in him until they found the solution to it with this tribal chief thing. And finally, it's working.

We are living in an age where authenticity, whatever it may be, is important. Roman's entire face run seemed somewhat inauthentic; he was clearly playing 'someone else', but now he's playing 'himself'. This isn't to say that we are getting the same Roman that we would meet if we knew him personally; rather, we're getting a version of Roman that's an extension of what we, the fan, interpret from looking at him and watching him perform. He's big, athletic, handsome and mean-looking. These are the characteristics that have been focused on in his heel run, and we believe him. Every great wrestler is an extension of how they appear to the fans.
When Rock talked about his failed face run back in late 1996 & 1997, he mentioned how the Rocky Maivia character wasn't authentic & that fans could see right through it. The same scenario repeated itself years later with Roman. Rock just developed way faster than Roman did & it happened at a time when WWE was in competition with WCW.
This video really outlines the issues with WWE and with internet fans. Both can be wrong. WWE were wrong about how they pushed Roman Reigns, but they weren't wrong for pushing Reigns. And I don't blame them for persisting despite Reigns getting booed by the internet fans. Internet fans are the ones that often lead the hate bandwagons, the loud minority. On the other hand, casual fans, who are in the vast majority of the WWE viewership, don't care enough to get all bitchy about who's pushed as a top babyface. If they don't like top guys, they simply stop watching. Thing is, they also also provide the bulk of WWE's revenue, so those are the ones who you listen to. But sometimes they can be hard to listen to when the loud minority are so... well, loud. Case in point, John Cena, a man who spend the better part of a decade getting booed out of building all over North America, while also making WWE a shit-ton of money. I don't blame WWE for ignoring the initial negative reception towards Roman. But I do blame them for not playing more to Roman's strengths.
I pretty much liked him during his solo Universal title run. This definitely got over the crowd, when creative gave him the WWE title as well this made him boring to watch again.

I just wanted to say how well together this documentary is. Very well spoken and easy to follow with. Well done, sir.
@@elijahhill6602
What a bunch of moronic marks.
1000s of people in sold out arenas went from saying" kill yourself " to million's acknowledging him worldwide
He's literally the number 1 reason I change the channel. Waiting so long for him to be gone has nearly killed my will to follow wrestling anymore. He is a black hole of charisma and ring work. He doesn't do anything well and kills boners in every room he walks in to. Cannot stand the guy, he does not feel like a star in the slightest.
@@derpderpin1568 That's why I've been binging on old Raw episodes from the Attitude days. I'm more into old school lol
I never understood the dislike for roman reigns, I always thought he was a really cool character.
He was forced to be John Cena 2.0 but he lacked the mic skills and wasn't as charismatic at the time. He had bad promos which wasn't completely his fault though, Vince McMahon forced him to say ridiculous stuff like the infamous "suffering succotash" promo. And they made him beat legends like the Undertaker during Wrestlemania. I'm so glad that his character was changed and turned him into such a monster heel that became so entertaining to watch.
@@JcDizon well roman Reigns vs the undertaker is one of the best matches that I've ever watched. And it's just that people are jealous, the world might halt you from rising up if they dislike you or reprimand your progress for reason they cannot explain.
Roman Reigns haters are just PATHETIC!!
@@niki8303lol. Someone replied with a reasonable explanation of some of the dislike was there, and you reply with that nonsense.

Me too. I've loved Roman since his days in NXT. 1rst match I saw it in him this guy is gonna be MASSIVE! And look at him now! He's amazing!
He has come so far from his Shield days. His mic skill has become a lot better and he has become a very good heel.
Dude... This was an amazing documentary.
That Raw after WrestleMania was sooooo wild. Never saw such heat before.
No one complaining?
We BEEN complaining but guess what WWE has selective hearing.
That's why half their roster isnt there anymore.
@@NY-BuddyI’m not complaining. 😅
Actually tons are complaining. The only reason you don't see it as much is because everyone knows he's finally losing the title soon.
@@cerebralassassin2185 tons by what percentage.
@@chriscraddock2867 That's a good point. It
@@ShaunInce123 thank you good sir
I was always a fan of is but him becoming the head of the table made me finally understand what were perhaps his short comings at the time
I really like Roman Reigns no matter what...no matter how people hate him. He stood to be the tough guy, so who cares if the audience hate him. He is the Tribal Chief anyway..the face of WWE. 👍👍👍
His story is really motivating
My love for Roman began when the shield broke up in 2014 he took on Randy Orton when he was part of the Authority and his win was a massive statement. he has been my Favorite member of the shield and I'm happy he is getting what he deserves after all the booing and bullying from the crowd
Honestly great story. Well done whoever made this video
He should’ve been a villain since day 1 glad Roman is getting that overdue appreciation☝🏾🩸
His 2020 heel turn saved the wrestling industry.
Really? 🤣🤣🤣
Truee
Big Roman fan here, thumbs up for creating this wonderful clip of the WWE journey of our Tribal Chief❤❤❤
august 2020 was the beginning of one of the greatest, most successful runs we’ve ever seen. roman has become an all time great and i think we are all so proud of him now
I often comeback to this vid ,and what’s incredible now is that he’s finally getting the cheer they always wanted for him he’s now a top baby face but still keeping his tribal chief persona,it be interesting to get a part 2 please
Not everyone can handle the heat from the crowd Straight for 6 - 7 years.
Love you Tribal Chief! ☝️
Love you Roman Reings!❤️

It was an Amazing video Man... Loved your explanation 🔥 Kudos for your Words selection & BGM which is fab as well as motivational...
Best Roman Reigns-2014-2020
I don't know why people didn't like him.
Everyone hates you until you tell them you have leukemia. People are so judgemental until they get a sob story
i’ve always cheered for roman since 2014 it’s now 2023 i’m 16 and he’s still my favorite wrestler
He had a classic match with Logan Paul of all people.
he can stll have stinkers like the WM Main Event with him vs Brock, but he can put absolute bangers too.
We all love him as a villain, bad guy when he was in shield people cheered for him
Rip wwe thunderdome era 2020-2021
I wouldn't have been watching WWE right now if it weren't for Roman reigns
I always think this tribal chief character and the “acknowledge me” phrase is Roman reigns character psyche after being rejected so long and his and the company’s urge for him to be acknowledged as the face all those years pushed him to the edge creating a dominant heel persona
This is why BOTH Roman and The Rock are NOW showcased as heels
Roman has been my favorite as a face and a heel. I loved Roman Reigns from the start. Not everyone hated him. I will always love the tribal chief ☝🏻.
All hail the tribal chief 🖤 literally loved roman since I first laid eyes on him. he’s ALWAYS had it in him. He just had to grow into it. He’s up there with the greats now
No he's not. He's a forced push. That automatically disqualifies him.
What most of us are overlooking is paul heyman. The main reason why we like the heels the most.
He was the next big thing in the world if not US. That roman vs authority was the best storylines i have witnessed in my life, believe it or not he was damn famous in india
The Real god of india 🇮🇳🙌🙏 Roman reins

I’ve always loved Roman reigns no matter how much he was booed in 2015-2017 he was amazing in the ring
Not gonna lie, WWE beleived in him so much that despite he is the most booed supersstar in the history of the company, they didn't stopped beleiving in him until they found the solution to it with this tribal chief thing. And finally, it's working.
In India he is the most loved wrestler of the decade ❤❤

I didn't knew he was hated for so long, tbh he was my favorite along with Ambrose since 2015. His rivalry with Rollins and authority was fun to watch. Not only me, I think he was one of the most popular wrestler among Indian audience after Cena.
Ye he had some matches where the crowd didn't even want to match and made it clear, but i always liked Roman.
Fans know wrestling fake they jus don’t want to be reminded of it his BF character felt unauthentic the HOTT character feels like this is the real him

Great amazing video package Roman
Cracking video. You explained everything so well. Well made, indeed 😊
Rock just developed way faster than Roman did & it happened at a time when WWE was in competition with WCW.
great video man you earned my sub and like
Now The Whole World Acknowledge Him. ...❤️🔥

Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose has never met Roman Reigns as ( The Tribal Chief ) i wanna see Roman's reaction when Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose returns to WWE
1:48 OMG!!🤣🤣
I haven't watched any wrestling since COVID began so this was a nice way to catch up.👍
I pretty much liked him during his solo Universal title run. This definitely got over the crowd, when creative gave him the WWE title as well this made him boring to watch again.
bros gone from one of the most hated guy in wwe history to being the only reason i watch it now
