    • @TheLazyEyebrow
      @TheLazyEyebrow 3 роки тому +24

      quite a bit actually. the main difference is I can crack out a whole video in less than 8 hours haha. I put just as much effort in, but the intent is different. there's no Patreon mention, no opening skit, no out and I make it a point not to do anything extra animation wise (Like dinobot's helicopter, Bluestreaks portal gun, etc...) and all that's left is transformation, articulation and transform out.
      TL;DR. the level of information, and key elements remain, but I make it a point not to do anything extra

    There is something odd about Bee and Cliff being muscle cars. Bee always looked better to me as a small car, if not a beetle.
    Cliffjumper on the other hand? I can see Cliffjumper as either, but TFP did it really well! Prime Bumblebee always felt to me as a less ugly version of Bayverse Bee.

    • @casuallatecomer7597
      @casuallatecomer7597 3 роки тому +10

      Agreed. Bumblebee is marketed as the "family-friendly everyman character" and realistically if your gonna market a character to kids I think a economical family car like a hatchback or a sedan would be most effective. (It's why the VW bug works so well for Bumblebee, it was designed as a "people's car" for everyone to use).
      It's not that muscle cars aren't cool but I think Bee can be a little more relatable to an audience if he was a common vehicle you'd see on the streets, rather than some niche, exclusive high-performance car that's porbably too expensive for the average audience member to afford.
      I mean if you want a yellow muscle/sports car character, just use Hot Shot. Cliffjumper however, doesn't have this burden and can honestly be whatever. But that's just my opinion.

    Little love hate for the character in Prime for me. Yes I agree that alt and robot form hit on all the right levels, it was just the treatment of the character itself. It kind of started the Cliffjumper must die scenario that is saved for a Dirge or Sean Bean.

    • @TristenSarelvun
      @TristenSarelvun 3 роки тому

      Has he actually died in anything besides _Prime_ and _Bumblebee?_ I'm sure there are some comics examples here and there, but I can only think of those 2. As far as I know, it's not really "a thing" any more than, say, Ironhide dying. It only happened twice.
      Anyway, _Prime_ Cliffjumper is probably my fav Cliff, thanks to the few episodes we _did_ get with him.

      And another upside for _Prime_ Clifjumper is his voice actor, The Rock. I can’t picture anyone else’s voice as Cliffjumper. The Rock’s voice fit Cliff’s personality like a glove.

      @@JDRider02 It's not really a trait seeing as it's only happened twice. We say Optimus dies a lot cause he's died... let's see... G1, G1, Headmasters, Armada, RoTF, Animated, Prime... 7 times that I know of in mainstream media. That _is_ a lot.
      But yeah, I remember eating Pop Tarts watching TFP before school every morning, and if I woke up early enough I could catch just a bit of G1 beforehand too! _Until The Hub removed G1...._ But then they reran Animated! Yay! _And a month later it became Discovery Family and removed anything I remotely enjoyed watching, and I tuned out completely._ I wonder if there's TFP DvDs, might have to look into that

    Fantastic review The Lazy Eyebrow!!!!!! Be REALLY careful with the hinge joint on the grill section, since it actually moves on to teeny tiny hinges that are paper thin. These hinges broke on my copy of First Edition Prime Cliffjumper, and since then I have been extra careful when transforming GDO Cliffjumper. :P :) Keep on being amazing.

    On my copy of the apc toys version at least, the wheels have so little friction that they do not roll on a hard surface. That said the matte red that I cant tell if its paint or plastic is just stunning in both modes. The bumper and the lack of side vents behind the front fenders are really the only things I can really tell are definently not the 'cuda.

    I feel his car mode is more Challenger then Cuda, I am aware it's more of a combo of the 2 but the rounder nature of the front and sides is more to the Challenger. The massive grille remind me of the pig snout the 73 - 74 models had, the rear however certainly screams Cuda because of the taillights and more straight lines near the rear. Anyway now that I rambled about the car long enough he really is good mold for a character that was basically a one hit wonder and cameo for The Rock and wished we had more of him before he was killed off. Regardless with the APC one on the way hopefully it will serve as an alternative to the GDO/FE versions because of how expensive they've gotten. It's also a shame we never got more repaints because this would make a great FOX-1 custom from the film Running On Empty to go with my Vanishing Point Tailgate custom.

    • @TheSeventhDeadlyMatador

      Also the Takara version of the original FE has painted taillights and there is also a decal set wich adds T/A Stripes and other details and decals for those wanting a more unique look. Sadly they won't fit PRID or arms micron versions due to size change and added ports.

    I saw a Prime Cliffjumper at a local toy store for $20, but since it was displayed in its alt mode, I ended up buying it because I thought it was this version, only after I brought it home was when I realized that it was the later RID version.
    It isn't bad, but the fact that the faux parts end up very close to the actual car parts - visually and spatially - kinda bugs me.

    Unfortunately, as someone who has the First Edition, I can't say I love this figure anymore. Mine is disintegrating. The clear plastic is literally crumbling on my copy, the hinge that the hood bull horns are on have completely disintegrated so now it's a separate piece. The hinges for the tiny bit of rear side windows have cracked, and there's a real noticeable color bleed on the hood parts compared to the rest of the car. It was stored and out of the sun, it's just fallen apart over time, the only Prime figure I have that's done so AFAIK. It was my Neo-G1 Cliffjumper until I was getting figures out for a 35 display and found to my horror that it had so fallen apart. Now that role is filled by Earthrise.
    Second, just as you didn't do the knees correctly, the figure does have wrist swivels. Or at least the First Edition does.

    I'd get this mold for his own thing, coz I'm happy with ER Cliffjumper, partsforming issue and the domino effect aside.
    However, what you said about GDO Cliff fitting in, it's also my line of thinking when including my Prime First Edition Bulkhead and The Last Knight Premiere Edition Barricade (with 3D printed evergreen head) with my Uniclasserations Autobots and Decepticons, respectively.
    Not sure about any Knock Out toy, but maybe Legacy will fill in that position

    I love this Cliffjumper and because my Modern G1 collection look is varied in a mix of many lines, of course he is in the fray. Him next to Henkei Bumblebee is perfect cause they fit perfectly next to each other and separates them too. I find its poseability to be ok, it's just that the joints ten to be sort of too tight and the plastic feels a bit more breakable than most figures, but it's because of the panels. I had to fix the horn bumper area cause it broke on me because I had twisted it too far in one time during transformation, luckily I have a way to fix my figures almost to the point that they never broke to begin with. I gave it my CW Megatron's rifle cannon thing and it looks like that shoulder cannon he had used on the first episode he tried to shoot Megatron with. Great and cool figure and I consider it part of the CHUG line in my collection.

    From what I read, he's supposed to be a 1970 (or 71) Dodge Challenger with the rear end of a Plymouth Baracuda.
    Plus, even if his head broke, I'm happy I got an actual FE Cliffjumper. For some reason that G1 Cliffjumper head doesn't fit this body that well, even if they clawed a bit of a TFP vibe on it by making the horns silver instead of red.
