Never thought about them being egg eaters until talking to a buddy in Louisiana a few weeks back. We got some chickens and I was picking his brain. He’s raised them his whole life . He said they’ll eat the chickens as well. He started loosing birds a month back . He set a live trap and has caught three now I believe. Cool trap . Makes me think of the Chinese finger torture trap . Have a great evening
Yep, the granddaughter and I have been trapping hard the last 3 years and have thinned the coon down a lot. 38 in three years and I have noticed the Turkey population is really coming back. A few skunks now and then too.
raccoons can climb and tear open a thin roof...ask me how I know...the carnage they left behind was heartbreaking...and they reach through fences and rip heads off, leaving the body - I trapped them in a "have-a-heart", the whole family took turns...drowned them - I bought one of the ones you show and will use it next time...now I need something for ermines, foxes and coyotes...
The old Series got recommended for me again, and i started to look up what you both are up to and if youre well, nice to see that you still upload and are doing fine as it look like, i wish you and youre close people arround you/ family that youre doing fine and good health. The old show gives me everytime when i see you both in it just good memories back. Thank you for that.
Those traps are excellent that's for sure. We pretty much get a coon a night when we have them set here. We also use the small cap to prevent mice from eating the bait. I've never seen one get two feet in one though.
In the novel, where the red fern grows, about coon hunting, grandpa taught grandson a trap where a hole is angered in a log and 2 nails driven in at angles. A simple shiny piece of tin at bottom.coon won't let go of the tin to slip his paw out. Grandpa thought it was unethical.made the grandson promise to only hunt with dogs. Just this once to get a pelt to train red bone coon hounds.
It sure is hard on a domestic cat's paw when they get caught in one. One of mine went to the vet today to try to help her heal. Cost over $70 and we're not sure if she'll make it.
Got to respect an old boy that lasted the test of nature dying of old age isn’t a luxury nature usually affords as much of a pain as they are I hope this particular coon gets to meet his maker in style either peacefully in his sleep or in epic battle worthy of the halls of Valhalla I had a coon here we named we hunted him so much old ghost coon finally got him biggest I ever seen kept the tail to honor his cleverness and resilience just doing what he was meant to do just picked the wrong chicken coop to do it in
I hope u reply to this Dave. So I cought a coon in a foot hold about 2 weeks ago. Basically set it on a high sandy spot in a creek where I saw tracks. Set it at night. Checked it the next day after deer hunting. And the had completely broke his hand off and had his bone sticking out and was all twisted up. And I felt bad. My first thought was I gave him to much slack. I didn't use an earth anchor so I basically used a homemade snair with the bent washer to tie it off to a tree. It also wasn't in a clear area so bc of all the slack he got hung up bad. What are some things I need to do to make sure the animal isn't suffering untill I can check my traps. If someone who knew nothing about trapping saw that they would swear off trapping their entire life so I want to do.everything in my power not to let that happen again. Plz help. Also I just got a few.of these dog proofs but I have alot more foot holds and don't wonna stop using em
Dave, would it be worth your time to release Bruiser to the nearest game reserve in order to keep him away from your property? I know I watch too much National Geographic. Lol.😊 Oh, and I have been watching most of your instructors on UA-cam going forth and multiplying. They make great videos except for one Devil dog. He needs some help brother.

Dave you have changed my idea of what trapping is from these videos, I truly appreciate you for opening my eyes to this and cant wait to join a class!
You're a great sportsman and conservationist with compassion!
Thanks for all your instructions and setting an example.
Good clean release and admirable discretion letting the old bruiser go. Thanks for sharing!

Nice 😎
I truly appreciate your thought lines, Dave. Good man.
Quick, concise, to the point and very helpful. Perfect video 👍 I feel better now about this dog proof I just got in the mail today. Much appreciated!
Thanks for the video. Great animal management. Thanks for showing how that trap works.

Cought with both hands in the cookie jar , 😂, thankyou for sharing all you're hard work, happy holidays, best wishes, safe travels.
I can't get enough trapping content this year. Keep it up, Dave!
Great job Dave! That's what is good about dogproofs, you can decide what to do with a catch!💚😁
You caught the same coon I caught on Thanksgiving lol! I also caught one with half a tail and blind in one eye. Ironic!
I probably would have done the same. Now to catch “the other guy:”

Awesome video dave thank you
nice, that racoon was a survivor too
Thanks Dave
always a pleasure to watch your trapping videos
Thanks Dave never see hand trap
Did a video on the baby raccoon I trapped a few days ago. I'm fattening and purging a large possum now for a brown and crisp in a few weeks
Purge 😂 and fatten with corn?

Thanks Dave I’m new but it’s good to see
Especially get rid of those dam coyotes. Northern mn. Has an abundance to begin with.
Yep, coyotes are an issue. Coons though are friggin smart and i've yet to make a coop they didn't get into eventually.
Hi, from southern mn. 😂
Coons are great table fair aswell 👍
I do catch the occasional house cat in these
That racoon has been around the block a time or two
That thanks was so epic it echoed!
In New England we have too many Turkeys.
I bought some new Bridger DP traps. The spring seems pretty aggressive. Do you find they break legs?

Good video well done.
"One eye, no tail, answers to the name "Lucky"...!
Give that kadoodle cat food. They can’t resist it. Caught 21 coons and 11 possums so far.

I caught the coon and her babies who ate my chickens then took them farther out and released. I am wondering if releasing them is the best option.
If you'd rather have chickens and
and eggs, don't release any varmints
Can you do a video on making a snare like you used in this video
❤❤❤
Where can I buy these traps?
How many acres are you on sir?
let the old man go to live another day
i use crunchberries for bait. the garbage pandas cannot resist them
Don't feel sorry for them. They cause nothing but problems.
Wouldn't it have been funny if it got ran over as it ran for its life?
no.
Thanks Dave.
Give him a hug like Buddy on ELF.
Gotta respect our elders.
