Great video Andre and Lisa. I love how HTRM is not just about showing pretty sights around Madeira, but also about the rich history and culture of Madeira.
Hello, Lisa and Andre! Loved this video so much. Exciting and interesting. We were on two of Lisa`s "Free walking tours" and they were just wonderful. Thank you, Andre, for fun videos and for good information. Great job! Michaela and Anton
Thanks André, Lisa & Óscar (sorry Jeff lol! 🤣But you were missed my friend!) I've definitely learnt a few new things about Funchal & Lisa, I hope to be on one of your tours soon & vlog bit of it for my channel as Jeff has appeared in quite a few of my Madeira vlogs to date! I hope all is going well for André & you (Jeff) in the US & am looking forward to seeing your final videos from your current trip. Have an amazing weekend my friends 🤗
My husband’s great great aunt was one of the Protestant converts that had to flee and ended up in Jacksonville IL. Her emigration paved the way for my husband’s (still Catholic) grandfather to emigrate to New England around 1900 (her name was on his ship’s manifest with the location of Jacksonville IL).
We’re in Chicago by the way if you’re stopping through. He can play you his repertoire of 1800s classical Madeiran music on his machete (in Chicago! How crazy is that?)
Hey Doug! Unfortunately we’ve come and gone … everything just passed by so fast. Could I ask you to send me an email? I’d love to chat more. hittheroadjeep@gmail.com All the best and thank you for your comment 🙏🤠
Colombo was a nickname (Dove) wich was very comum in XV century Portugal, as many jewels become New Christian to be avoided lose their life in the Inquisitions. Colombo hide his pasr even to his son. The Italian version is happened very recently, only when they found letters in Italians (minutas italianas), all his life Colombo all the documents before those italians letters was writing in Portugues, Casteleano and Catalan.
Everyone’s allowed to believe what they want to these days, imagine the poor people we spoke about that had to flee Madeira in the 19th century (no cruise liners or airplanes) just because they were worshipping “the wrong bible”
Hello Carlos Fernandes. Yes, it is my truth to not believe in any gods and I'm very comfortable with it as I'm sure you're comfortable with your truth of believing in god. As you said yourself, faith is a belief and we should all respect each other's beliefs, even if they differ from ours and everyone should be allow to mentioned it without being judged. Me and André are not trying to convince anyone to become atheists, we simply mentioned it. Sorry that was the only thing you noticed in the whole video. Have a good day!

I've also came across some documents with this perspective, which I fund super interesting.
Thank you for this input! 🙏
Thanx for the information!! I think there’s still a lot of research to be done hey, hopefully some day we’ll know for sure 🙏

Hello, please do the history of the Jewish people in Madeira.
We’re working on it 🙏
So sad to hear that these two have no faith , and seem to think that their belief is definitely the truth.
Everyone’s allowed to believe what they want to these days, imagine the poor people we spoke about that had to flee Madeira in the 19th century (no cruise liners or airplanes) just because they were worshipping “the wrong bible”
Not being "religious" and not having "faith" are two completely different things Mr. Fernandes, hope you have a great day :)
