As a former GI nurse I can attest to how important colonoscopy is. It beats getting cancer and then dealing with surgery/chemotherapy. It’s a humorous song but take the procedure seriously. Follow the prep instructions carefully to get the best possible exam
I had my first at 66 yrs old last year. 2 weeks later in surgery for stage 2 cancer. No chemo needed but even now 8 months later I stick close to a bathroom and my poor wife has to deal with my weaponised flatulence.😁🤣🤣🤣🤢
I also had a colonoscopy around 19 because of stomach issues! Am 21 now, though. Did they figure out what it was or did it come up inconclusive like mine?

Too funny! As an person in their 60s I've been done this road a few times. The last time they had the whole camera view on a big screen TV so all in the room could view the exploration of the pink cave. I also really liked the kazoo in he harmonica holder. I've done that before and got some really weird looks. I'm due for another one soon., Oh joy.
Good humor. You did send a positive message. I had my first colonoscopy at 55 and failed. I even studied. A month later I was in surgery. Followed by chemotherapy only 30 days later. Then the REAL fun continuous Chemotherapy through a external port into my heart. At the same time daily radiation. 🤮 they literally burned my 🫏😮. The Lord is good I have survived where many of my Radiation Buddies did not 😞
I don’t want to diminish your story in any way, but I want others to know Portacaths (ports) do not go into your heart. They go into your subclavian or jugular vein (not an artery). Don’t want others to be scared in case they need one. Hope you are doing well. By the way, I am a hospital nurse for over 42 years.
I've had 2 now. The preparation is far more traumatic than the actual procedure. Especially if you have a 2 hour drive between the preparation and the insertion.
And if you refuse to get one like me, they’ll mail you a little kit to scoop out your own crap and mail it back to them! Who would want that job? Not me!

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same appointment. When I woke up I asked the nurse if they did the colonoscopy first. Before she could answer I told her ''I could tell because the camera tasted like crap''.
OMG they are "so much FUN" as I have had 2 already! Plus due to the 1st one found some other issues that needed to be corrected! So Yes ALL need to have the "Intense FUN" of having one!

31 i had one in october drs wanted to make sure my seizure meds werent eating away at my guts i was asleep but i dont remember going to sleep i remember going into the room and i woke up in the recovery room the prep i thought i was gonna die i never finished the whole thing just looked up what bowels should look like after prep for colonoscopy and once it was that color i stopped drinking it and everything went fine
I’m 70, had my last colonoscopy in April of 2022 at my VA hospital. When I say my last I mean it. Went in for my regular schedule procedure. It lasted approx. 45 seconds. The instrument when through the perforated my colon. They woke me up to tell me what happened and they were calling my daughter, my wife passed 7 months prior, for permission to preform emergency surgery. Since I was sedated they had to have my next of kin authorize the surgery. It all turned out okay. But I won’t go thru it again.
A doctor said if you’re in your 70’s and have no polyps (or just a few non cancerous small ones) you don’t need a colonoscopy, that the risks are not worth it. I pray that you had a full recovery. Thanks for sharing. 👍

A friend of mine had made it past the age of 50, not 40, when certain checks are made. He had some symptoms that meant he had to have this done. However he didn't read the instructions properly for the special drink and so drunk it in one go. I had just got back from getting him some supplies from the shop and he said he had finished the drink. He said "Well I have finished that drink" and I just said to him "see you later as I am out of hre". He asked why and I said give it a mo and you will know why as you are meant to pace that drink. He soon realised his mistake.
