      Would love a video on UK based brands, as a lot of great ones you have all require shipping to here. Wondered what your thoughts are regarding shipping these brands like 10 tree to the UK and other places are. Obviously its good for the company to get a sale but i always feel a small amount of guilt when I'm getting it shipped half way round the world. Thanks in advance. Just wanted to say I've followed you for a while and respect what you and Leah are doing so much. All the best from the UK!

    I feel like any time anyone talks about sustainable toothpaste, or other medical/dental products, they REALLY need a disclaimer that not everyone can use all-natural toothpaste or other alternatives. Many people have dental issues that make sensitive toothpaste essential, or fluoride essential. I grew up in a family of dentists so I can't leave this one alone. Love that David's is great, just had to throw that out there for anyone else like me who feels slightly attacked (I know it's not intentional) every time they hear people raving about natural toothpaste when they can't use it :( If this is you too, please don't feel guilty for doing what's best for your oral health. Do your best for sustainability in other areas of life.

    • @NerfHerder909
      @NerfHerder909 3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I'd love to swap toothpastes, but fluoride-free is a deal breaker- my teeth just don't tolerate it well, and every time I've tried it, I've gotten cavities. Other people seem to have great luck with it, so I've just chalked it up to one of those things, but it does mean that a lot of these natural toothpastes are not an option for me. Tom's of Maine is the one brand that I know of that does both fluoridated and fluoride-free versions, but they ditched their metal tubes a while ago, so....

    Great video! I like the fact that you are transparent with getting free stuff from various companies. From your list, I have tried and loved Leaf razor and All Birds socks. Where I struggle most is with clothing. I'm a petite woman and find it difficult to find clothing that fits, I haven't really purchased any clothes last year except for new runners, socks & underwear. Definitely want to make more sustainable choices with clothing if I do have to buy new but with COVID & lockdown, I'm not wearing many pieces so I think the longevity of what I currently own will keep me going for awhile yet

I have an interest in sustainability and the reduction of plastics. My only question is how do you feel about haute fashion male-centric workwear brands, IE Filsons, redwings, black bear brand, high end selvedge denim brands like Naked and Famous, and eat dust, etc.

    • @LeahandLevi

    Glad you liked 99% invisible's book (I've heard it's great---I've mostly listened to his podcast), but I had to laugh, urban planning and especially transportation is the lens through which I've been introduced to so many issues, so it was a little humorous to see maybe the reverse perspective. But things like sustainability and environmentalism, which is how I get here, but also social equity and public health are just so fundamentally affected by our urban built form--well it's such an important topic, I wish more folks would read on it. I'm sure you don't need a list of book on the topic, but that really stuck out for me.
    And yes, I'd also love a list of worst purchases...these things are always fun.

My method of getting every bit out is to lay it flay unrolled on the counter and run a chopstick down the tube on a flat surface. Haha well thanks for the feedback! I would like to address this at some point but in the meantime Leah talks about it on her podcast which is linked in the description!

      @@LeahandLevi I personally like Lamy, Pilot, and Twsbi but the unfortunate thing is that I have not been able to find a brand that has 3rd party assessment. You could also go the second-hand route which I am trying to do but sometimes its hard to find the condition of the pen.

    We love Smyle tooth tabs. really need a fluoride option, kiddos and weak enamel over here and a rinse is just one more step.

    Great content as always, though I have to say I had a small heart-attack when I looked up Ecologyst's prices 😬 It's frustrating that a lot of the brands I want to support are waaay out of my financial capabilities.

      Yeah that’s unfortunately the real cost of clothing made in a western country. Cheap clothes means cheap labour. It’s all good though, support however you can within your means!

    Now I'm interested in the David's toothpaste. I have been using MOON and I have at least seen results. I just concern if the company is sustainable or what's your opinion on it. Plus I like the twist knob for David's to get all the paste out. Sometimes I feel like I have a bit more left on the Moon toothpaste. I think I'll give David's a try in the future. Thank you.
