You are my favorite "Install Arch Linux" guy. You move fast, but if we can't keep up, we can just click pause or replay the video in spots a few times. Much better than agonizingly describing every minor detail like most others do. You strike a very nice balance.
Don, I hope this comment finds you. You are wearing me down on each post. I have been on computers for a good while now. So hardware and software is what I love about you.. Over the years I have focused more on spending time on what I learn and how to learn it. Your channel is absolutely intoxicating and full of nuggets to spark anyone's interest. I might not follow you down the rabbit hole at every post, but I won't forget to scrub back on your channel once im up to the challenge and have time allocated. Great content and a super resource. love it!

I’ll be dammed! I’ve been reading for almost a week trying to figure out how to get Hyprland installed and configured on arch. I’m not stupid, but it’s been a very convoluted, confusing experience. And then I stumbled across this video and in less than 30 minutes I have it up and running. Had to do it twice because I screwed something up the first time around. Otherwise I would have had it done in about 10 minutes. Lol. Thank you 🙏
love your videos man and excited to see the hyprland video. I've been on it a few months and I like it. One thing. The file manager Thunar.....NOT Thunder. Just had to say, looking forward to more of your awesome videos.
You might want to check as the last time I used the archinstall script it did not install the nvidia drivers, I do love hyprland and when it works it works great gaming was a bit of an issue but ill be playing around till i get it working the weekend. For those that not sure about the packages they need if you add --needed to the pacman or paru it will only install the packages you dont have installed and skip the ones you have installed. Nice guide got some intresting ideas to try on my build
I love to see more video about the hyprland config and make it compatible for daily driver. I want to use hyprland as my wm and make it as my daily use laptop. Hope to see more videos of it.
watching your vid helped me install arch finally. i was confused with the partition part and wanted to check out the new budgie de so able to install it with arch. ill prob roll with it for my basic os system for my needs. thank you
I personally went with CachyOS to start (KDE first), then manually swapped to Hyprland since one of the themes I ended up liking uses a lot of KDE bits by default. I have been spoiled by Hyprland, never using a floating WM ever again (except customer systems).
coincidentally, david bombal just released a video showing himself booting into the asus bios. that is a really nice setup, would be great if you could install black arch but keeping that theme & interface.
He's going to try Hyprland for awhile... LMFAO! Nobody tries Hyprland for a while. Hyprland is like a parasite - it never leaves. I use Arch btw && I use Hyprland btw. It is the way. Mando approved. Awesome vid. Enjoy some Hyprland! That new Arch Installer has me triggered (in a good way).
just giving you some experience using archinstall to install with hyprland, i don't recommend it using any greeter from archinstall, it's buggy, i tried sddm and it doesn't give me any user, in ldm it always wrong password, i suggest just install the sddm after running archinstall, its ran fine for me, just in case anyone have the same issue like me
since you install with btrfs, df -h does not report properly for space usage. you should use btrfs fi df / since in / it creates subvolumes oh and another thing, correct your thumbnail. You dont need sudo to ran arch install. Its mis leading
Spoke too soon. I have a desktop with the yellow bar, but that’s as far as I get. Super+Q doesn’t launch kitty. I’m using a virtualbox vm on a laptop with an Nvidia gpu so I’m guessing that’s the problem. Still….. almost.
at 5:31 u booted into arch after entering your password but that's not the case with me when i enter my password whole screen goes black for a sec then it asks me my password again , when i press ctrl+alt+f4 it open a command terminal when i try to login as a root and non root but it says my password is incorrect i have installed it 2 times but same issue

I’ve had some issues when using archinstall that it complains whenever creating a new user and don’t let me login or finish the installation. Any tips how to solve this?
@@brazilianhippoSame for me have been sittning with it for the whole day. It complains about that it can’t add new users to any groups. What iso version are you using? Think it might be a bug in the systemd version.
wtf idk why but no matter what keyboard layout i tried during the archinstall, local language whatnot, hyprland keeps loading the US layout once installed and i have FR tkl keyboards only here... which makes it unusable, can't even modify that shit after following the documentations since i just can't type shit... another bug is that if you chose lightdm instead of sddm you'll get stuck in a login loop no matter what, for that just go ctrl+alt+F2 to get a tty and go on as if no hyprland has ever been installed, the only way around the layout issue i found is don't use archinstall, which isnt rly that bad but whats te point of even having this possibility then? or just dont chose desktop type and hyprland, go minimal and install it manualy afterward... this then brings the point that if you're not from USA with US layout keyboards you're basically doomed to not do much more once installed the way this tutorial shows... what a logical way around huh, go minimal guys, do all by hand and at least you'll get what you deserve for your efforts, or you'll properly fuck it up if missing one command but at least both of these possibilities does end up giving you a chance of using your fresh installed arch !

One of the most simplest and easiest tutorial out there for arch and wayland. Thank you for making this. 👍

This is the first I've heard of Hylprland but I'm very impressed. I will have to give it a run . Thx. Excellent video as always!
From Debian 12 to Arch Linux to test stable hyprland before it comes to Debian 13, it has been awesome.

I'm considering switching to wayland from xorg, heard some people had issues and said it's not ready yet though so I'm not sure

Install 'xwaylandvideobridge-git' instead

I dont agree, been using linux on/off since 2000 and I feel like gentoo and linux from scratch is the toughest.
What arch version did you use to install?? archlinux-2023.08.01-x86_64?
Hyprland on open suse is the best. Waybar. Wofi. Excellent.

if your using nvidia, check my last hyprland install for nvidia fix

yes thats why login managers exist
