I’ve lived on both sides of the country. I loved living in Perth, it’s not as crowded, the roads are well laid out, there’s free buses to get around the CBD, lots of pristine beaches, housing is less expensive, jobs are well paid. It can get hot in summer but it’s not humid and a breeze comes in off the ocean in the afternoons, I found it more comfortable than humid east coast summers despite the higher temperatures. People seem less cynical and more friendly more like a large country town than a frenetic metropolis.

The Gold Coast is now basically the outer southern suburbs of Brisbane- the two cities used to be separated by around 50kms of countryside 40 years ago but they have now essentially grown together into one giant sprawl that is over 120km long and continues across the border into NSW almost all the way to Byron Bay. This combined urban area has a population of over 3 million people and is one of the fastest growing urban areas in the country.
If you live in one city you can easily get to the other in about an hour. Brisbane/Gold Coast is a bit over an hour’s flight to Sydney and a bit over two hour’s flight to Melbourne. Cairns is about 3 hour’s flight north of Brisbane as well.
Perth and Brisbane are the two closest major cities (2 million plus) to Asia, but Sydney and Melbourne have more direct flights.

When I was a kid, it took minimum 2.5 hrs to get from Bris the Surfer’s. Now, one of my old friends says he did it at 3:30AM in 28 mins. …….granted he was well beyond the speed limit the whole way.

@@tempsitch5632 I grew up on the south side so it only took 1.5 hours for us. I remember leaving the edge of the built up area at Springwood and travelling on the old Logan Road through semi rural areas until you reached and went through the town of Beenleigh. It was then an hour through cattle and cane county interspersed with bush until you reached Nerang, where you turned east towards Broadbeach through grazing land until you reached the new estates at the back of Pacific Fair.
A few years later the Gold Coast Highway was opened at Helensvale and you would no longer have to go through Nerang.

@@neumanmachine3781 Moved to Brisbane in 84. Very first home was the Story Bridge Hotel. I remember some of those one-lane-passing-through-dirt-town days. Can catch a train down there now. I knew Bris and GC would eventually touch. The southern suburbs just kept expanding and developing. It got to a point where we’d meet a girl on a Fri night at the pub in the CBD and ask where she was from and she’d say something like “Redlands” and we’d all stop and stare like, “Is that in Brisbane ?” Then she’d ask me where I live and tell her, “Vulture St., next to Southbank, 15min walk.”, and then I’d hear, “oh…..well maybe it would be easier for me to go home with you tonight.” Ah. 18 and living alone in the city was rare. Everyine knew me used it as a hub.

I've noticed most people who don't mention Perth haven't been or they've only stopped by briefly and have not done much while there or travelled down the coast to the surf beaches, wine region etc. The rest always seem to rate it at least worthy of a reasonable mention.

Kind of weird that you hate a place that has been voted in the top 10 most liveable cities on earth and is home to the most millionaires per capita? Surely the beaches are at least a redeeming feature. It’s the best place to have a career in Australia if you exclude Sydney and Melbourne, but not to say it’s not up with them either. Everything you said about Melbourne applies to Perth… but we also have great beaches…. And a waaaay better river 😏
To me, with all that high rise on the beach, the Gold Coast is dead set a turnoff. Check the shadows on the beach at 11:15. There are less than 6 high rise buildings on the beach in Perth, and they are only 5-20 storeys tall.
The isolation is no biggie in Perth. 3 hours to Bali (where every man and his dog go for holidays), 5 hours to Singapore, 4 to Melbourne, 17 to London 😊

From Brisbane you can go just over an hour north to the Sunshine Coast or go south less than an hour to the Gold Coast. A short drive inland from both these areas are their Hinterlands, rural and semi rural, with lots to see and do. Both areas have easily accessible airports with the Gold Coast just upgrading to international flights. All 3 areas are very liveable, with great public transport, road systems, education and social life. All 3 areas have amazing food, with fruit, veggies, and livestock farms in all areas. Seafood is caught locally. I've lived in all the places mentioned except Perth and I can only take my friend's word that it is a great place to live. Of all the cities I would suggest look at the Gold Coast as a serious option. I get the feeling you'd fit in well and really enjoy it. It's a city but, like Brisbane is very casual and relaxed. A lot of people commute into Brisbane from the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast though it's easier and quicker from the Gold Coast.

I live and grew up in Sydney but have lived in Brisbane and Cairns. I love Sydney. It's by far the most beautiful city but also the most expensive. If you make good money, you can live well here. It's got better weather in general than Melbourne and much better beaches. Brisbane is a great city and another good option. It's surrounded by mountains and you're close to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and anywhere in Southeast Queensland is beautiful and has a great climate. I've never been to Adelaide but I hear it's lovely and has pretty good weather too. Perth is great. The best climate overall I think. The more northern cities like Darwin, Cairns, Townsville etc are quite hot and humid and they also get cylcones occasionally. Wherever you choose I think you'll make the most of it and us Aussies are pretty friendly and welcoming wherever you go. Take care Mat. Peace... ✌

Quick and easy access to world class wine regions, pristine beaches, and the beautiful Adelaide Hills. Also easy access to the Outback if that’s your thing.

Cost of living is relative to income. Everyone says Australia is expensive. That’s true for many tourists. However, if you are earning wages here, it’s pretty reasonable. Having said that, real estate prices in the major cities can be absolutely insane. They never mention inland regional cities in any of these reviews. There are plenty of those. The coast and cities are great for a holiday once a year, but I’d much prefer rural areas as a place to work and raise a family.

I'm an Aussie and have been to every place mentioned in this video. Maybe you should, too, ie, take a' kangaroo-hop' holiday around Oz before choosing a place to live. Of all of them I prefer and live in Melbourne. I live 11kms from an easy reach to the city centre, near the bay in an area with many parks and recreational facilities and good shopping areas, services and schools. I like Melbourne's buzziness, it's cultural vibe. It is Arts-focused with a number of excellent concert venues, art galleries etc. It has a love of sport, especially Aussie rules where the AFL originated. It is a mentally-orientated, Academic city. Melbourne is a beautful city with lots of parks and gardens and with much of it wrapped around Port Phillip Bay (which enters the ocean between two lovely peninsulas) and its beaches, or near the mountains. We do have four seasons (and they can occur in one day!) I like the variety of the weather. Melbourne has a temperate climate.
Most of the other places are like big country towns and/ or are full of tourists and retirees. People live there as it suits a more laid-back, quieter lifestyle. The weather up north can be hot and humid, as in Malaysia. Perth is a small city and can experience really hot, dry weather and is the most isolated city, as is Darwin. The 'top end' places of of Oz, Darwin and Cairns, both really are country towns, and are subject to cyclones. Adelaide is a small city and has a very dry and sometimes quite hot climate. Canberra is an inland Government town-city and boring and can get quite cold in winter. Brisbane is a small city, inland on a river but not on the sea, and has high humidity in summer. Hobart is like a big country town and gets quite cold. Sydney has a lovely harbour and beaches for those who live in the eastern suburbs and also has tourists due to this. It actually has more rain per year than Melbourne. It doesn't have a central business, retail and entertainment district like Melbourne. For me, it is a show-off city with little substance. They are my opinions and some others will disagree.

Gold Coast is just below Brisbane so South, North of Brisbane is the Sunshine Coast. I am even further North above Bundaberg. My son and his in laws plus all extended family live in Cairns. Cairns is beautiful but not busy enough for you I think. They are all in Queensland. You have to remember there’s no ocean swimming in Summer in Cairns which is almost at the top end. Queensland is so big it takes us 4 days to drive to visit my son and his family. I don’t live down near Brisbane. I have a sister who lives there on the water canals in the Gold Coast. Gold Coast can be expensive, crowded and full of tourists. At the end of every year they have schoolies where every high school graduate comes to get drunk for two weeks from every State. Darwin is more a country city, no swimming in Summer because it is at the top end. You can swim in the ocean pools or you can swim in the ocean if you love salt water Crocodiles, blue ringed Octopus that can kill you and stingers, all dangerous, same as Cairns. The further you come down the Coast the safer the ocean is if you stay away from sharks, they are protected and everywhere.
I don’t like Brisbane but my view is from years ago. Many love it now but I refuse to go and see why. It has come a long way since I was there.
I was born in Sydney and I grew up there. The Harbour, the bridge, the opera house and the Ferries I will love forever but I will never go home again. The roads in and around the City were badly planned. Driving there is a nightmare. My choice and where most of my family still are was Melbourne. I lived most of my adult life in Melbourne and it really is the best City anywhere. I live on a beach in Queensland and Melbourne will always be home. It just got too cold for me and too hot, it does both. I live in more of a steam bath, the humidity can be at 100% but I always have an ocean breeze. The first time I went into the sea it was weird, the water was warm enough for a bath. I prefer to swim in my pool but I love to walk in the ocean at low tide.
Tasmania is so beautiful except for Zeehan, just keep driving through, it only takes a minute. Adelaide is laid out on a perfect grid. It is the easiest to drive around and I love it but might be a bit small and quiet. Perth is gorgeous, the light is different there. I do not like the City but you can live in some beautiful homes around it and still work in the City. I lived there for 5 months when my husband was sent there to work. They pay for where we live and my airfares every 5 weeks each way. We flew home to our house in Melbourne to see our youngest. The balcony of our Unit hung over the ocean so I didn’t need the City. I loved it but I was always aware of the time difference and that changed for some of the year because they do not have daylight savings, they don’t need it but my State doesn’t either. The one drawback in Perth is the shops all close at midday on Saturday and open again on Monday. They also close at 5.00pm during the week and one night they stay open until 7.30pm. Our late night shopping in a Melbourne went to 9.00pm. I didn’t have my car with me so if my husband worked back on that one night I couldn’t buy food for another week. They were the hours I grew up with in Sydney and I don’t think they are wrong. It is good that most get most of every weekend off, you just need to plan ahead.
All home prices in every State went up very high. Something like 15,000 expats came home because it was safer here, especially in Queensland and Western Australia, also the Northern Territory. Houses everywhere were bought. People threw renters out because of the profit that could be made selling those homes. I have never seen so many people sleeping in cars or in friends houses and it wasn’t fair. Our border was locked for two years, we were flying people in from New Guinea with Covid because the hospitals were full and they were leaving them outside, we took them off infected ships but our Government never let them get near us. I would wait a year or 18 months because the prices are starting to go down again. Sydney has always been expensive, Melbourne has always been really cheap and underpriced but I don’t think it will go back to that again. Brisbane was always affordable and Adelaide. Hobart and Launceston was affordable.you pay more there for what comes across from the mainland. All of our Cities are in recovery and they all have empty businesses that didn’t get through Covid. Some are staying online for good and new one’s are starting to come back again. Now you have to come and look and decide if you want to move here and where. It looks like I wrote a book but that is just a brief overview. I preferred to move down the Peninsula in Victoria and every time we moved house we moved further down. It doesn’t matter if you move 45 minutes away because public transport is so good and it is way cheaper to leave your car at home. I have been told that Sydney is fixing their public transport, they had to do something. They tore all of their Trams out years ago, now they are trying to fix that mistake. Sydney is very beautiful but you have to get into the beautiful part and most cannot afford to live there.
You can’t make me go back to Canberra either. Don’t do it, there is nobody home. I have a cousin who lives there, I haven’t seen him since he moved there. There are many more good Cities besides our Capitol Cities.

So there is a big choice to choose from. If it’s Melbourne you can travel anywhere in a short time around Victoria, just do you’re home work first to be sure.

I tend not to trust videos that can't pronounce the cities they're talking about.
    That said:
    1) Perth is the place to be. Absolutely beautiful, sunshine all the time, super laid back - there's not much that isn't perfect. I love the architecture, the landscapes, the beaches, and the people. It is crazy-remote, but if that's a workable issue then I don't think much else competes with it. If you're coming from Asia, Perth will be familiar in a lot of ways due to immigration. Affordability is good. The state had a program recently (still?) where they'd pay immigrants $50,000 just to move there. The beaches are beautiful, quiet, and relaxed; not like the overrun sardine cans on the East coast. Great wine country, great culture. The worst weather in Perth is better than the best weather anywhere else on 98% of the Earth. Big city with a small city feel. Nearby Freemantle is awesome. Optus Stadium is great.
    2) Melbourne would be #2 on my list. If you enjoy sports, it has like 47 professional sports teams to go with great food, music, and cultural/arts scenes. Go this way and you're in the rainforest, go that way and you're in the mountains, go another way and you're in the desert, go the remaining way and you're in the ocean. Downside is the weather. Melbourne often makes you think you're not actually in Australia. It gets hot sometimes, but winter is pretty grey, wet, and depressing. They say wait 5 minutes for the weather to change, but when it's bad it takes a lot more than 5 minutes. Penguins live here! I think it feels like the most metropolitan city in Oz. Reminds me of a safe, clean New York with way better urban planning.
    3) Adelaide is the sleeper of the bunch. Like Melbourne, the weather is sometimes a bit dodgy but the city is stunning. Parks, architecture, history. Working class town but not missing out on the class. And the Port Adelaide Power play there which increases the draw of the city significantly ☺
If I were to talk down spots: Sydney is overrun with tourists and EVERYTHING is at least twice the cost of anywhere else. If you're not a dentist, be comfortable with poverty. The infrastructure can't support the growth and activity - driving and parking is an absolute nightmare (though prepare yourself for Aussie drivers anywhere you go). I'd rather live in the Alice than Sydney. I actually used to dream of living in the Alice, but it's become worse than a third-world war zone and the NT government is not very good at fixing their mistakes so it's also off the list. Most people rave about the East coast locales, but it's just to crowded and noisy for my tastes. Cairns used to be great until the tourists made it standing room only. It's still beautiful, but I'd think twice before considering a move there. I don't think of it as a place to go with a career either; it's more a place to retire.

There's a hidden small city gem in a patch of paradise less than an hour south of the most congested under developed most expensive overcrowded city in Australia, and the world for cost of living, Shitney, I mean Sydney.
That gem is a city called the Gong, Wollongong. 60ks of the cleanest uncrowded city and metropolitan surf beaches of any city in Australia. Drive no more than 20 minutes from anywhere, 5 minutes for most suburbs and you can have your own part of any beach to yourself, they are that long.
Then the untouched subtropical rainforests along the escarpment at your back door can be your own to explore, mountain bike or hike along endless bush trails if it's not beach weather. Ocean, beach, rock, river, estuary, lake, freshwater fishing. Whichever you prefer it's all here minus the pro's and their nets. Not to mention water skiing and competitive sailing on the lake.
Having the escarpment five k's from the coast gives Illawarra it's own weather system and protecting the coast from the hail and storms that smash Sydney.
If you're addicted to earning the big Sydney bucks it's a short drive to work by freeway up to Sydney or an hour by train. Why would you though when you have everything here without the headaches.

Honestly, it really depends on what you are looking for and climate. Up North is usually much warmer and humid. South is cooler and greener. All States have bushland and beaches. I grew up in Sydney and travelled from Western suburbs to the city to work for a goodc7 years - I was young then and loved the shopping, night life, etc but as it got busier, traffic was worse, toll ways started appearing and I relocated with my husband and baby to Country (Central West). We lived the quiet and more isolated life whilst the kids were growing up then made the big move to Western Australia. Never regretted that. Now I live up North and enjoy the country town feel in a Smaller city with farmland 10 minutes away, beaches about the same and can be in the middle of town in 10 minutes - no bumper to bumper traffic and have everything I need. Downside is that whilst 2 of my kids (now adults) moved up here one is still about 4.5hrs drive away in Perth. Fremantle would be worth looking at - it has lots of night-life, public transport and plenty of cafes, restaurants, etc. It also has historical buildings, very tourist oriented, lots of "quirky" and interesting people and is still easily accessible to city of Perth by car or public transport. Plenty of bike paths too and a few nice beaches and parks. It's south of Perth so cooler climate.

Agree with the sentiments when comparing Sydney and Perth. What strikes me is the big city feel of Sydney every time I go, even compared to Melbourne, which has pretty much the same number of people. So many impatient people hooting car horns like they're in the middle of New York. Its probably the least chill vibe of all the cities I find but people are just as busy in plenty of other places. Don't want to be too negative to the place though - the beaches look OK and I'm surprised how mild the climate has been there this year particularly.

The Gold Coast is a place to live if you have lots of money, enjoy surfing and aren't interested in anything cultural. The traffic is horrendous as there is only one "freeway" north/south and no room to build another one. If you like stressful driving the Gold Coast is ideal. Rents and house prices are very high as everybody wants to live on a boring canal development. The Hinterland is spectacular but not really that easy to get to. There is a train service into Brisbane but from the central and southern parts of the Coast you also have to use a light rail or walk as the railway only goes so far. The Pacific Highway has been in a state of "improvement" causing traffic delays for as long as it has existed - it never seems to get finished as traffic is increasing so much that once another lane is added, it's time for yet another. There are many places in Australia which are much better than the Gold Coast in which to live, including many of the larger inland cities that never get a mention on videos like this.

Within a relatively short driving time I have access to long pristine deserted beaches ,a huge number of lakes and waterways, sub tropical coastal forests, world-class vineyards , mountains (or what we Aussies call mountains) historic towns and villages, scenic parks and nature reserves ,and the magnificently beutiful Port Stephens who's senery is on a par with a tropical south-sea island (not an exaggeration) . We have in our region best practice hospitals a world class university major sporting facilities and some of the best restaurants in Australia not to forget light and heavy industries and one of the busiest shipping ports in Australia catering to the largest coal handling facility in the southern hemisphere . If asked every Aussie could give you the same kind of biography of their home town which I'm sure only makes it more confusing for you , so good luck in choosing a place to settle down in .

Perth is beautiful but it’s too far away from the rest of the country. I feel like if you’re going to live in Australia, you’d like to explore it and the best place to base yourself is somewhere central for driving trips and with a domestic and international airport. South East Qld has all this.
This area has good hospitals, good universities, great facilities, and it’s large enough give you a city feel and small enough to feel like you have space. It’s not too far North to put you in a cyclone zone and being coastal, the weather is temperate.
Adelaide is too rural and too quite for you. The same with Darwin or Cairns plus you can’t swim at the beaches as they are crocodile and shark infested… not to mention tropical cyclones.
I’m from Sydney. It’s now too expensive and traffic is a nightmare. Melbourne has four seasons in one day.

South Australia and Victoria experience extreme temps, they have beautiful countryside and Victoria has the worst state government in the whole country. It’s too hot, too dry and too isolated in the middle of Oz and Queensland while hot and tropical the further north you go, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast to the north and the Gold Coast to the south are fabulous temperature all year round, still quite country with all the best the city has to offer. Well as a person who has lived on the G.C for 40 yrs I can say this is the common misconception to this place, as the MAJORITY of Australians come up here for holidays and spend all their time on the beach or in our wonderful rainforests and spend all the cash at the theme parks that ONLY THE GC has plus International guests visit here and then decide to LIVE here. So in the end, bag it all you like, diss this place, call it tacky , call it everything you can think of, in the end, Y'all come back here every year, without fail. LOL! AFAIK, Sydney is more beautiful overall than Melbourne with more tourist features. However the bay and hilly nature make the roads somewhat hard to navigate compared to Melbourne. Sydney's shops are geared towards early birds who often exercise in the morning in lovely surrounds. Melbourne isn't a great tourist destination but often makes the "World's Most Livable Cities" list in the top three. The inner suburbs have more of a grid layout making driving and public transport pretty straightforward, and if you can afford to live on a train or tram line you're pretty set. Melbourne shops were geared more towards Nightowls, but covid may have gotten rid of the 24 hour supermarkets and gotten restaurants closed earlier than they used to be.
You really need to watch more videos and especially find locals to talk to. For example, I hear Perth has a great nightclub scene (in Freemantle?). It's also got great beaches, and a lovely Mediterranean Climate when it's not in drought. I don't know how multicultural it is, you need a local to talk to about that. I know a lot of white South Africans have settled in Perth, but I don't know how many is 'a lot' and if they are impacting the culture.
Australia has a really mixed attitude to migrants. Many Australians are enthusiastically multicultural, and mixed-race couples are common in many areas. And then there are the people sure that the latest wave of migrants are 'stealing our jobs' and have very dim views on Aborigines. As always, it's the more multicultural areas where the majority of Caucasians are used to and happy to live and work with people that don't look like them.
Many immigrants love the weather and culture in Queensland. I can't really give any personal experience. Melbourne is cold in Winter, hot in Summer. Up north it doesn't get that cold. Further north into Darwin it's Wet Season and Dry Season, with dramatic tropical rain.
Covid inflation has been a big problem, some people manage to avoid it by working from home for a really well paying online job for a company not necessarily based in Australia. Weather may play a big role in where you'd like to settle, whether you enjoy humid heat or can't cope with it. Tasmania is like a mini Britsh Isles weather wise... very green with the purest air in the world coming straight off Antarctica.
I think Adelaide is closest to many of the spectacular outback destinations like King's canyon, Ularu etc. It's also got a lot of the world's best wineries near it in the Barossa valley. It would be great if you want to see a lot of the outback via car trips. Sydney probably has the easiest access to downhill skiing in Winter, but Melbourne is not bad for that either, as far as Australia goes.

Melbourne would be my pick. We have about 5.3 million ppl, a big job market (including fin tech), good schools, a thriving cafe/arts/music culture & lots of markets, festivals etc. Always something going on. Rentals are expensive, but that's the case pretty much everywhere these days.
You could also consider a large regional town close to a major city, e.g. Geelong, Newcastle, Wollongong, as property is cheaper. Not sure about job opportunities in your field, though.

The figure of 5.3 million would include Geelong and several other towns surrounding Melbourne. 4.9 million is closer to Melbourne’s population.

Choosing between the Gold Coast and Melbourne, I would certainly consider the weather. Winter in Melbourne is horrible and the weather is very changeable all year round. But it has more to offer than the Gold Coast to young people like you, I think.

Some people actually enjoy the changing seasons in Melbourne. Summer usually has a dry heat which is far more bearable than the humidity in the northern states. I find early autumn in Melbourne is the best time of year and love watching the leaves on the trees turn as we approach winter. Yes it gets cold in winter, but so do both Adelaide and Sydney, despite what some may have you believe. Then in spring you get to watch the blossoms start to come out, the roses and magnolias start to bloom and you can start to feel the warmth in the air.

You couldn’t pay me to live in a city. Biggest place I’ve lived in is Canberra but it’s more like a big country town. Canberra has the highest median wages in the country at around $80k pa . And extra public holidays lol Other than that I live in rural areas. Now I live in a town of 200 and it’s bliss.

It always amuses me when people mispronounce Cairns, it prounced like Cans of drink. Unfortunately it's like you're living in a sauna, you'll definitely need air-conditioning. Cairns without it is a form of cruel and unusual punishment. I'm originally from Brissie (Brisbane) and currently live in The Atherton Tablelands up a Mountain Range behind Cairns. Our climate is definitely cooler. I'm considering a shopping trip to Cairns next week. Hanging out in an air-conditioned Shopping Centre, especially during summer would be good. I'm always happy to get back up here. Well I get sick when it gets too hot. It really saps my strength, if I'm not careful enough about hydration I've been known to faint. Well My Grandma came from Finland, she couldn't handle it either. I'm of Mixed Decent and proud of it. Including both Highlander and Lowlander Scot. I'm also of Irish, English, Russian, German, Hungarian, French, Mongolian and Chinese decent. Cairns' peek tourist season is during our winter, it's a bit more comfortable then. Plenty of people visit both Cairns and The Atherton Tablelands.

The Gold Coast is an hour from Brisbane & too many tourists...as a Sydney boy, I am obviously going to say Sydney. I can't live without my beaches & there is 100 to choose from. It is expensive, but so is Melbourne. The closer you live to the water, the more expensive it is, but the weather is better than Melbourne. Cairns VERY humid beware. Adelaide is very quiet. You have to ask yourself these 2 questions....1. What can I afford & 2. What can't I do without (or what do I need to be happy)...then you choose. Like I said, I need my beautiful beaches....Sydney for ME (I do love Melbourne, but Sydney suits me better)...

Perth for me is too far down the list the isolation is more a plus than a real negative with flights etc and is large enough without the downfalls that come with being so large that it’s a 2-3 hour commute to work like in Sydney or Melbourne. All lists are very eastern states centric. I’ve lived in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne and still prefer Perth by far❤

Please take note.. the intro of his video says its expensive to live here.. NO.. its not.. let me explain.. he also says high wages in the next part. Our wages are higher than a lot of other countries and our cost of living is higher also.. hmm.. maybe they offset each other? Life IMO is easier here (Aus) than in the US. I have never been to Canada but its possibly around teh same? I'll leave that for canadians to talk about. NZ is probably similar and to me.. just to ME, the only other country i would consider moving to from Aus is.. NZ.
Its all subjective. What do you want from your life? If its just food? jeez.. probably anywhere in EU will cover your needs without having to move. Lifestyle.. Aus has MANY different types of lifestyles covered.. from self sustainable to big city.. Australia can cover (in General) almost all types.. but if you want extreme living styles, a lot of other countries will have you covered. Again.. Everyone is different. I dont know what you want from life, so asking me to comment is like asking me if you are pretty or not :p
Edit: Personally, i wouldnt want to live in any of those listed, Again, thats personal preference. Any place with more than say.. 2000 people is too big for me :p Smaller towns have a much more friendly vibe. anyways.. just for edit :p

Darwin hot & humid year round. Cairns, Townsville & Mackay not too big, relaxed. Brisbane, plus Sunshine Coast great. Gold Coast OK. Melbourne great, love the cafe culture. Sydney not as ‘user friendly’. Canberra stats prob skewed by Parliament etc. Adelaide supposed to be great. Perth a bit remote from rest of Australia. Hobart & Launceston bit behind the times.
