As a 50 year old white guy from London I know Dave is not making music & expressing himself for me. But I can't help feel pride that his voice & what he is saying has come out of the UK. Dave is special & although I can't say I listen to him a lot. How can anyone not see the incredible talent of this guy. He connects becuase he is speaking truth & that has no colour or age requirment.
I'm pretty sure Dave would say he makes music for everyone who enjoys and resonates with it, no matter your colour, age, background etc. Besides, you're a Londoner, this music is part of London/England culture too so it's made for you to enjoy as much as anyone else.
This track has a sister track he put in his most recent album called heart attack which is very similar yet even better in my opinion, very similar in style, 7 mins of incredible rapping about London street life. It’s unbelievable

I'd highly recommend 'Dave - Lesley' if you like storytelling in Hip Hop - it's an absolute masterclass.
This was deep. In your conversation about the things you go through it makes me think of a seed to a plant. The young seed just burst and fights its way to be on top but with time each sunrise it begins to grow , flourish, & mature until it succeeds into what it's meant to be. Fighting environmental factors it eventually gets to where it's going hopefully. I don't know why but this one gets you thinking of many things. Even in reflection there's light of which to grow by.

All I can say is there is a lot more where this came from. You are missing out on UK rap my friend. This song is one of Daves styles, which is more closer to poetry. I would argue he is one of the best lyricists in music. To say that Don did not know who Dave was just shows that Americans are kind of 'snobbish' towards their rap. You need to expand out, the UK has some bangers.
Dave's music is genuinely life changing. He's one of the few artists/musicians worldwide who is truly in their own lane.
