I can not believe they do not know the details surrounding the engagement with the School Resource Officer. How difficult can that be if you talk to him?
Don’t worry, they have a plan. Underpaid, under appreciated teachers will be armed. After they pay for their own training and purchase their own firearm . A lot of teachers pay out of their own pocket for school supplies.
Imagine knowing a shooter is in your child’s school and you have to wait outside while police officers are seemingly just hanging around instead of going in to save the children. I can’t fathom. I just can’t.
I bet they only killed him once he left the classroom where he killed kids, once he barricaded inside the classroom nothing police can do when he has hostages .
Well, in your hypothetical scenario, were they white cops, or cops of color? How far from the extraction point are they? These cops are cowards, and I doubt they would have gone in for any other cops, unless white and right next to the door. #CowardCOPS
Theres other kids hiding and the shooter is going to diff rooms.. ITs a hostage situation. multi news media tell a diff story and then it gets ran through questioning the cops and yet the news are talking about diff timeline of the encounter like the shots outside was near the ditch area with 3 others that were checking on the gunman when he crashed his truck but he fired at them and other callers thought there was an exchange prior to the gunman running in. And then there was a first shootout later on inside but that was with 3 law enforcement and the gunman open rounds and cops were running out of ammo and had to wait for backup of which the other half of school was being evacuated and law enforcement is trying to figure out if theres more than one shooter in a now growing hostage situation. Parents mad outside while tact team is coming and the gunman is barricaded in and then hears a student place a call and then seems to open fire during which the tact team had to get a school staffer to open a certain door because of lockdown mode and then they have the final exchange with the gunman.
The whole “we were trying to evacuate the other kids” makes no sense. Policy for classes during lockdown is to hide and stay there. We were instructed to not let ANYONE in even if they said they were police. And also it is policy for ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT to immediately engage the shooter. Not to wait for some other team to get there
The lesson is distressing but clear: in such a situation, the teachers and children are on their own. They cannot rely on the police. The survivors were those who took actions for self rescue.
Tepublicans are only interested in stopping mass shootings, eventually, using a good guy with a gun. Not preventing them from happening in the first place. Public safety is not their concern.
Thank the Supreme Court who years ago ruled that the police’s job is not to protect a citizen but to investigate crime and make arrests. This was affirmed by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

I don't even have a child and I'd have gone in if nothing was being done and he was systematically murdering children! God! These parents and children deserved so much better than this! Agony!
It took 40 plus minutes for the cops to go in. They took credit for saving lives for killing the gun man however it took 40 plus minutes for them to grow balls.
This "law enforcement officer" is trying to deflect and is so defensive. He acts like they did a "good job" reacting to this gunman. No. Response time was great and looked like they had a ton of police there. But instead of stopping the gunman quickly police pepper spray and handcuff parents? Wrestle them to the ground to stop them from taking action?! You all did close to nothing and for an hour?! You let babies die for an hour!? My children are elementary school children and I would have acted the same as the parents. These officers are disgraceful. Cowards
When first interviewed Lt. Chris Olivarez didnt even mention the victims, he was too busy praising his cops who work for him, and later on, decided to mention the victims. Says lot about him as far as I am concerned.
I side with the parents who were willing to risk their lives to try and save their children. If they did not succeed , their relatives could honour their memory by knowing they tried .
One mother did. She was handcuffed for a while. Knew a law enforcement officer and was able to get the cuffs off. She ended up jumping the fence and going inside to reach her child and take the child out.
You would have to shoot me or tie me up to keep me out of that school if my girls were in there...any bullets the shooter uses on me are less he has left for the children. And I would die knowing I did everything possible.
We want all body cams of every officer open to the public,we want complete transparency for all the families effected If they think they can get away with covering up mistakes or cowardice they are wrong .They just need to let the cards fall were they land .
Cops are afraid of dying and that’s normal. Why should cops die when we could have easily avoided this tragedy? If you don’t want kids to die, then vote for gun control.
They are going to get away with it, look at that community? They are very poor and mixed race, no one cares. Trust me, there will be no repercussions for the cowards that stayed outside waiting fo more kids to die, never mind the injured ones that could’ve been saved, what a shame.
My mom once told me that me and my brother were her life, imagine loosing the one you love the most, the one you're working for every day, the one that you make plans and plans to their lives, I can imagine loosing someone I love like this. 💔
The fact the parents would go in with no guns and willing to risk being shot to save their kids only to be told by the cops they can't go in while they have guns but aren't going in makes me sick to my fucken stomach
You're a joke. So just let the parents go in there and get shot dead? This is the narrative you and so many people are using to justify hating on cops once again when you should be praising them. Get a life.
The crazy thing is that a bunch of them actually had guns !! because Texas is so loosey-goosey with gun laws that there be lots of people , even soccer moms, packing heat. The parents were ready to go in there and fuck shit up and save their kids and the freaking police officers wouldn’t let them
@@Wordavee1 Well, he could explain how parents were begging the cops to actually do something. He could have addressed that. But, he didn't, did he? Why would he make excuses for failure?
The officers lack of action is going to cause a serious breakdown within that community of people against cops. No one will trust law enforcement to help them ever again
They haven't trusted law enforcement for over a decade. Is this new info to you? Per Crown Rock v. Gonzales, Supreme Court, 2004, police are NOT under any obligation to protect innocent life, only apprehend the criminal. A failure to protect life cannot be held against police. People have rightly not trusted police to protect them since then, because they literally don't NEED to protect you.
They waited about an hour to go in while parents outside could hear the gunshots and they were being restrained from going into the school. Those parents who lost a child are always going to wonder if they could’ve done something to save their children?

I had to appear in court in Texas in 1975. I had been arrested for a DUI even though I had had one beer hours before. The day in court none of the cops involved showed up. The judge said “Well we don’t need those liars here anyway.”
The parents were ready to save their children, but the cops told them no and to wait for their small town's SWAT team. Uvalde's police department gets 40% of their tax dollars. Fully-funded police in a small town with a SWAT team, and they waited 40-60 min to enter the school. They know what happened. Make all police body cameras and car cameras available to the public NOW. These questions should have already been answered by now.
@@bobabooey69420 well defunding the police might have at least ended the complete waste of money that they are and giving the town some other means to protect themselves against the onslaught of right-wing racist hate
If they're shooting at you, they're not looking at the kids. Keep him busy. Engage him. Don't just hold a perimeter while he's on a rampage inside. You're a badass when it's a black kid playing jn a park or a black driver you pulled up, but when it's actually your goddamn job while toddlers are dying all of a sudden you have procedures. And now it's the fault of the doors somehow.
It's always the same. Cops first priority is to praise themselves, never look at what could've been done better or what they got wrong. It reminds me of the escaped Texas inmate who has still not been caught. He is serving 2 life sentences, got out of cuffs, leg restraints, cut through metal into the drivers compartment of the bus, over powered 2 men with shotguns, and all the Sheriff could do was praise the 2 cops because they shot out the bus tire. They couldn't be more incompetent if they tried. Same thing with the New York subway shooter, he called 911 himself and said "I hear you're looking for me" and told them his location. The cops at the press conference just praised themselves for catching him.
NYPD was quickly able to identify their suspect in the subway shooting within 2 hours ...that's why the public was able to to finger him. These are two different scenarios.
If they aren't going in to save my kid what good are they? Geezus. Our house was burglarized recently and the cops didn't even take a report. What are we paying for? We had a registered sex offender parked outside of our public library - across the street from my kids' school - letting kids pet his dog. I FOUND HIM ON MEGAN'S LIST and had to run him off myself by threatening to call the media. It took weeks. The police did nothing and so are of no use to me whatsoever.
The police officer had nothing to do with the guy shooting the kids. Also, there is an investigation. STOP DEMONIZING THE POLICE! STOP BLAMING THE GUN! BLAME THE INDIVIDUAL!
Exactly! We should have at least a rudimentary timeline of the gunman in the school by now. I think there was gross incompetence that the cops are trying to hide/find a way to explain.
I just seen video of a shooter with this type assault gun in action entering with just a handgun would be suicide but would have used up amo that was used on kids
These are probably the most incompetent cops I have ever experienced. Two days now, and they cannot provide facts. Then, to add insult to injury to the parents, these cops keep changing their stories. Incomprehensible!
Right they keep changing their stories. An investigation needs to be done and they need to look at every single camera inside/outside school along with body cameras from the police officers to see what really went on .
False flag attacks or something. The fbi knew about these shootings before they happened. They are grooming the shooters like the plot to kidnap whitemer, January 6 and many others. We are pawns in their games.
That chief knows everything, he just won’t admit his officers failed. That school resource officer was a coward who had a chance to do something and did nothing. And the rest of those cops who waited 40 minutes should all be fired for cowardice.
You do not want cops investigating cops. He is hiding many failures of these useless cops who sst behind cars waiting to see which of the the agencies would go in first.
Why did this officer even give this interview if he knows nothing, the only information we got from him was basically that they spoke to the resource officer and interviewed him. Thanks for that compelling information. This cop talked the entire interview and still gave no relevant information. He can't say he doesn't have a timeline for what happened and he also wants us to believe his officers interviewed the resource officer and haven't reported to him the details of that interview? I don't buy it for a second.
@@randal_gibbons why didn’t the kids have guns, they should be armed with a minimum of 22’s. What kind of weak and pathetic Texan sends their kids to school not packing. A knife, brass knuckles, throwing stars, bulletproof backpacks, something anything.
Back in my days, I worked corporate security and we had a better security protocol to neutralize a shooter and save all the employees within a building, than these buffoons in badges! There is simply no excuse for any of those 19 officers to have not gone in, in tactical formation within the school building until they reached their target. Even if they didn’t have bullet proof vests or infrared cameras to see where the target was located, the officer in charge could have sent a group of 3 officers on all sides of the building. That would have left them with 7 officers. Then 4 officers should’ve been sent to the top of the building, while two officers stayed outside giving the parents reports and the 1 officers giving the officer in charge 9/11 reports to make any last minute tactical decisions. All these 21 souls could have been saved if these buffoons could have put in practice the oath they took, which was to serve and protect. And this is why people are fed up with police officers. This is a tragedy that could have been avoided. May they all 21 souls Rest In Peace.
No, not all of them. The few minutes after the first 2 engaged and he got into the classroom means some are dying regardless. Less would have died sure but there's no way to respond that fast unless those same 2 that got shot just kept going and forced themselves in. Nobody has said anything about how fast he killed once he got in. If he starting shooting as soon as he got in the classroom there is no such thing as a fast response for that.
It’s just very hard for him to admit that: 1- officers chased the gun man inside 2- gun fight between gunman and officers 3- officers backed out and allowed the gunman to barricade himself inside the classroom 4- officers sat outside and waited for SWAT to arrive SHAMEFUL!!!!
If the cops were not willing to rush on there and risk their lives to save children then they should have let the parents risk their lives ... Setting up a perimeter while a madman is inside a school killing people is not acceptable .They know what they signed up for...to protect and serve ....if they are not going to risk their lives to stop school shooters what good are they ? Setting up a perimeter ,waiting for swat ,putting together an assault team all the while children are being executed seems to happen again and again.....were any of them even intelligent enough to warm the school to lock down while they were chasing this idiot and how do they not cut off his retreat into a school or pursue him with all available resources into the school and engage him immediately ? Even if it would have saved one of the kids it would have been worth it.. This should be a story about dead adults who saved children not about adults making sure they didn't didn't take casualties while children died like at columbine ...

This guy Lt Chris olivarez has been giving interviews from yesterday praising himself and the law enforcement officers on their supposed "bravery" while dodging important questions asked by the reporters. He even started one interview praising their "bravery" before relaying condolences to the victims family in one of the early interview. In that interview alone, he mentioned "bravery of LE officers" 3 separate times. Those officers were "bravely" tackling, tasing, pepper spraying and handcuffing parents. A boy who was hiding under a table covered by tablecloth in a classroom with the shooter in it gave interview. He said the police instructed the children to yell "help". One student a girl in that same classroom yelled "help" and the shooter located her and SHOT her. Whichever police officer who gave that instruction caused the death of this poor girl.

At the time of these questions, more than *40 HOURS* had passed since the last shots had been fired. This officer is giving answers as though it had been less than 4 hours later. So, in the last 2 mass murders (refuse to call them shootings), we had first a retired cop as security, and then, from what I heard; a school guard, and 2 officers engaging with the gunmen. In both cases, it was futile because said psychopath was wearing body armor. And in both cases, said psychopath fired back. First, killing said security guard, and in this one, injuring 2 officers. Considering the "Good guy with a gun" argument, this goes beyond that, because it wasn't a "good guy"; it was supposedly trained individuals whose job is or was to protect and serve. It took 4 Border patrols firing at the individual to take him down, and we don't even know who got the killer shot. Pass gun legislation NOW. There are no excuses anymore. There's blood on the GOP's hands. We don't need to turn schools into high security prisons with more armed guards, or arm the teachers; they already don't even get damn funding for books, now there's money for guns? Pass sensitive god-damn gun laws. How is it possible that, in TX, someone fresh 18 can legally purchase guns, and ammunition, before they can even drink, smoke or rent a god fucking damn car.
WOW why don't you get a job with the DOJ...YOU"RE SO SMART! Now ask yourself how many would have been killed if the COPS WEREN'T THERE? FACTS: AN EVIL MAN FOR WHATEVER REASON COMMITTED AN EVIL ACT WHERE INNOCENT CHILDREN WERE KILLED. ASK YOURSELF WHY DID HE DO THAT VS WHAT GUN HE USED! WHAT MAKES A KID GO KILL HIS GRANDMOTHER AND THEN SHOOT UP A SCHOOL? DID THE GUN MAKE HIM DO IT? GET A CLUE!
Because they are cops, it isn't their job to put themselves in harms way. Oh wait..... *STARE* By the by, goes to show how well trained the cops are that they couldn't get the drop on the gunman. Makes me even wonder how many of the kids were killed by police bullets because we know that the average cops couldn't hit the proverbial barn door while standing in the barn.
I’m sure most fathers would be willing to run into that school even if it’s just to draw fire away from those kids to give them a chance to escape. If those people were being held outside by fully armed police while they could hear shooting inside then heads need to roll.
That's what it is starting to sound like. This situation just went bad to fucking horrific. Every shot those parents heard was another life...... Omfg.
D cops. Bloody hell. All parents would not even hesitate to run into that school. CHILDREN. Should matter. But in this country guns and coward cops prevail. What were they landing waiting for? Christmas??
I don.t think there is any parent anywhere that wouldn.t have charged that school with a weapon or their barehands. I can't imagine that cops stood there and did absolutely nothing. If this turns out to all be truth and not rumors. What good are coward cops??
Strange that the right to bear arms doesn’t extend to citizen dads in protecting their children. Only the shooter and the police seem to have had the right. Unarmed citizens were victims. The logic behind the second amendment is bull.
Right? It seems like the 2a only counts if you are in a position of power or influence or if you're planning to do something terrible. So much for their bullshit "good guy with a gun" fantasy.
@@Noneofyourbizniz1 giving them guns and letting them go in there and save their children....the guns the cops have belong to the citizens they are supposed to protect and if they are just going to set up a perimeter and eat doughnuts while they wait for swat like they always do ..then the parents should be able to use them if the cops are not going to risk their lives..,.I think that is what the point was ....this should be a story about dead adults who saved children like it would be in an ideal society
Sadly, mass shootings will always be part of American society. There’s far too many guns, an entrenched gun culture, and no way to properly secure all schools, churches, grocery stores, and public spaces. Other western countries have similar levels of mental health issues. Yet, the main difference is that those countries were able to restrict gun access and use. What do you mean the police officers did their job to the letter. They made sure parents couldn’t enter the building. Yeah that’s about all that they are legally required to do. For some reason people still believe in his old wives tale that police are there to protect you😂. That hasn’t been part of their job title for decades, the Supreme Court ruled in the 80s that police aren’t supposed to protect your children either so that legal theories out the window too. I wish to defund the police movement was willing to reallocate that money to a force of armed men and women that are there to protect you and have that legal duty to keep you and your children safe. Too bad we’re stuck with the crummy excuse for law-enforcement we hire now a days.
@@Hoffman-Creations no, they did not do their job. They're duty requires them to enter into the school, rescue kids and locate the shooter. You can feel the cops need definding...that not what this issue was about. These cops failed in the worst way. A mother ran in and got their kids. Yet cops stood like cowards while those babies died. We need gun reform, better trained cops and better safety for our kids.
@@whos2knw they did their jobs perfectly fine according to the Supreme Court… According to Supreme Court they have absolutely no duty to the protection of those children. The only job they had, only because it didn’t risk their safety was to keep those parents back. Are you gonna argue that the Supreme Court of the United States doesn’t know what a police officer job entails? Personally I think we need to you take away 80% of the funding from police departments and instead hire people who are there to protect us and our children. I don’t know what we could call them but we definitely can’t call them Police officers or law enforcement officers. That is simply due to the fact that law-enforcement isn’t required to keep you safe. Otherwise that officer would’ve gotten in trouble rather than protected when he held the door shut on a bunch of victims trying to escape the subway car where a man was viciously attacking them and killing them with a knife in New York. If you or I did that I’m pretty sure we would get charged with accessory to a crime though.
@@Hoffman-Creations if they did their duty perfectly fine why would the police need defunding? Abbott admitted they did NOT perform their duty according to their training. They get Active Shooter training and it does not consist of the cops outside while the shooter is inside with the kids. If teachers get active shooter instruction, why wouldn't cops? ALL reports say those cops remained outside, clueless. One of those cops was hollering for the kids to yell out is they needed help?! And that is something you never do. Some parents even got pass them and got their kids out, one of the cops got his kids out as well. So NO defunding is not the answer. In fact it's rather naive in thinking and is actually just another catch phrase used by the Republicans attempting to distract away from what needs to happen...gun reform. NO CIVILIAN NEEDS ASSULT WEAPONS. We need sever gun reform and the there needs to be better training for police departments.
@@whos2knw i’m just telling you what the Supreme Court is going to say is that they did their jobs to the letter of the law. It doesn’t matter if they violated department policy, because it’s been held that if the department policy can violate the officer safety the officer can violate that policy with impunity. I don’t think the reporters were saying that the cops all remained outside, I thought that was the sheriff. Are you really saying you’d rather have somebody who has no duty to protect you and your tax money goes to that? Personally I’d rather reallocate the money to somebody who has a legal duty to my safety. If you can prove I’m wrong about over 40 years of case precedence being established on the records of local, state, federal, and even The Supreme Court of the United States. If police departments actually offered security, or were legally mandated by law even, I would change my tune instantly. But it’s a shame because our tribal police have that written into our law to protect the community. If only America’s cared half as much about the effects of “law-enforcement officers” and their legal duty’s on the community. Currently as it stands the parents ant the OFF-DUTY officer getting in is probably the only thing that they could get written up for according to the law. That is also supported by department policy. Until that “active shooter policy” can actually be mandated. It’s as hollow as the promise of your liberty or justice in the United States. To be fair my fear of Americans giving up guns are colored by my native American culture. My people only signed one contract with your crooked government. When they weren’t going to uphold their end of the deal (we still upheld ours because we’re civilized at least). But our nation didn’t give up their rights to bear arms like a lot of these other nations that genocide was a little more effective against in the US.

Not to wait for some other team to get there
Cops couldn't take him down in time but the teachers are supposed to do it next time. You know, when we arm art instructors with big guns.
They missed that day at training and in their manual.

So they shouldn't try to get the kids out via the windows?
The lesson is distressing but clear: in such a situation, the teachers and children are on their own. They cannot rely on the police. The survivors were those who took actions for self rescue.
Tepublicans are only interested in stopping mass shootings, eventually, using a good guy with a gun.
Not preventing them from happening in the first place. Public safety is not their concern.

It's always the same. Cops first priority is to praise themselves, never look at what could've been done better or what they got wrong.
It reminds me of the escaped Texas inmate who has still not been caught.
It’s just very hard for him to admit that:
1- officers chased the gun man inside
2- gun fight between gunman and officers
3- officers backed out and allowed the gunman to barricade himself inside the classroom
4- officers sat outside and waited for SWAT to arrive

But its not too late for you to move to a safer country.
It's never to late...how can you be such a quiter? Get out and vote these Republicans out who won't vote yes on anything that helps us regular folk. FFS vote them out.
Yeahh… well time to get another abortion :)
@@kathyweis7451 what? All three branches of government are Democrat controlled. This is your fault!
@@kathyweis7451 You’ve forgotten that there are lots of democrats that love guns too. The simple fact is that gun and ammo sales are huge money makers for corporate America. Both sides of the red/blue game love money first and above all else. As a result, neither team as a whole is motivated to do much more than bitch about the issues these weapons create.
Those fathers may have died but they would have died saving their children shame on those officers who stood by and stopped them! and didn't do their job and go ! it's unacceptable and shocking to me😠💔
I think the fathers would have been able to take that punk down, thus saving most of the children, because they weren't cowards!!!!
Your dumb the dude had an assualt rifle and body armor they would have been Immediately killed.
It's so terrible... breaks my heart thinking about those families and dads who were prevented from trying to save their kids by these fucking cowards.
It was a Mother who went in to get kids out. Fathers may have wanted to, but it was a MOTHER who actually ran in.
@@zer0set721 makes sense. No one more likely to risk death to save their kid than a mom.
Every time I see one of those stupid hats all I see is cowardice and liars.
The lieutenant is lying he knows if the resource officer fired on the suspect. he also knows the time-line. They are trying to do damage control.
I suspect the resource officer was NOT on post or possibly impaired and let the shooter walk right by them. This is an obvious fail on the part of the LEOs.
The man in the cowboy hat kept saying they were trying to “preserve the further loss of human life.”
No! We must “prevent (not preserve) the further loss of human life.”
The only loss of life these cowards were worried about was their own. Pathetic
That's his uniform! He's the Sheriff, not just some guy so this is official bullshittery.
They were preserving a crime scene, not prevent additional deaths. This is a bad interview for all those cops/deputies standing around.
SMH the cops that arrived on scene first should have found a way to get into that classroom instead of waiting outside!!!
When dumb cops try sounding smart, it always backfires.
Sounds like he police chased him into the school. Then they weren’t brave enough to go in. Now covering it up.
Yes that’s what I thought. Weren’t they initially chasing him after he shot his grandmother? Or when he crashed his truck? Something isn’t adding up.
theres a difference between being brave and being stupid, the police that chased him only had a pistol, he had 2 ar's, if they went in they wouldn't have stood a chance against him
@@seemopps lol... The guy who took him out, did it with a gun... Excuses are pathetic...
@@calisto2735 no shit they did it with a gun, but 2 officers with pistols aren't enough to go against someone with an automatic rifle, they also had to use automatic rifles to take the guy out, not pistols, and not just 2 officers
@@seemopps but there seems to be a huge delay in targeting to kill him, he can’t even give a timeline. There needs to be a sense of urgency when there’s an armed gunman in a school
Is this a sheriff flapping his lips but saying absolutely nothing just like a politician? Who is this guy, and why is he still....
The phrase, "this could have been worse" should NEVER be used in this story!!!
THIS IS BAD!!! THE COPS DIDN'T RESPONDED FAST ENOUGH!!!!
@@whos2knw they did their jobs perfectly fine according to the Supreme Court…
According to Supreme Court they have absolutely no duty to the protection of those children.
"It takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun"
That continues to age poorly
All those good guys with the gun were taking selfies 🤳 to the border patrol shows up n be like hold my immigrants n went inside
explain how men , only men keep targeting schools to kill kids and not women... every time it gets closer to election and as well when democrats are in presidency.
This guy knows the truth that for an hour and a half the cops sat outside and refused to go in.
Ridiculous action, ridiculous explanations, shameful responses!
