Hey Terry next big rock you need out of your way. Dig it out like you did but then dig another deeper hole beside it and roll the rock into the deeper hole replace dirt rock gone.

You've got it easy. I'm also up in Minnesota, but in the Canadian Shield area. When we find a boulder, we use it for a foundation anchor for our structures!! try sinking a grounding rod in up here! You start out an agnostic, then after one foot, a budding optimist and in my case after I was able to sink it 3.5 feet, a true believer in G-d!

At 4:26, I was wondering if you had a tow strap in your van. with the blocks in place, you could wrap a strap around that rock and pull it up and out of the hole.
I had thought about doing that but after the whole "pulling well pipe, slipped chain, smashing into the back of the van" event, I'm a bit gun shy. Although a strap wouldn't kill me like the chain.

It will help you to have a Roto-Hammer drill and a long masonry bit (3/8"-1/2") about 18" long. Then you can make the line you want to split and deep enough to lead the split to where you want it

If you can get a towing, or ratchet, strap under and around the rock then you can pull it out with your truck. After that you just need to roll it to where you want it.

I thought about that but after the chain slipped off the well pipe and came back and smacked the van I'm still a bit gun shy with that method. Although a rope would do less damage.

Tie the rock with rope and use your vehicle to tow it out and have a plywood on ground to het the rock mobiles to a place
