Nice vid, thanks. General question. How much does a team spend on a car in total (price of a car, preparation, livery)? Who pays for it (sponsors?)? Is there any trophy money? Can cars be reused for further races, or are they going straight to the press? Thanks :)
Varies from driver to driver depending on how much and if they have sponsorship. The kit in the car is 1k onwards depending on how racey the set up is, cars themself start around £50 for a merc shell but can quickly add up over a couple of grand such as for a rarer mk2 Granada
@@sjbangervideos thanks for your answer. I'm really impressed how well prepared (some of) the cars are (sturdiness, spraypaint etc.) Hope I will see it live one day. It looks like a lot of fun
@@timx The cars in this video are basically rust buckets with a sprinkle of paint destined for only 1 meeting, the modern day bangers are built much harder and can last all season in some cases.
0:58 - 1971-1974 Australian HQ Holden Kingswood station wagon - how did that car end up in England?
And even rusty ones are still fetching decent money here!

As a classic car restorer I see many £1000.00s rolling around that track.
Banger racing seems pointless, but it is more exciting that demolition derbies.
RIP kingy 206
