@Larry Stephenson I'm gonna assume you meant who so I'll answer to that, let's say Russia invades U!kraine with its force in a couple weeks Ukraine is russias but factoring in NATO then that's a whole new story its a proven fact whether you like it or not that the american military is well more equiped than the Russian army and an invasion of Ukraine will stop all trades from Europe to Russia so that might not immediately affect Russia but overtime the economy is going to crash and assuming NATO choose the option to invade Russia I don't see them having a problem with it because morale will be down there will most likely be riots going on all over Russia and most importantly Russia has no materials or oil or anything to fuel the masses of tanks,vehicles etc as well as the insane technology the major European powers have created is just mind blowing so in a realistic scenario Russia has no shot at successfully invading Ukraine without reprucussions

But we weren't strictly neutral. It's important to note that Ireland interred any German soldiers who ended up on our territory, typically bailed airmen from crashing planes, but sent Allies back to their respective countries, eg England and America. True neutrality would gave been to either jail any foreign combatant who ended up here, or to release all equally and send them on their way - but we did both. As such, we were not truly neutral.

However, the pilots that crashed and were arrested, many were actually allowed out to dances and dinners etc, some of whom even stayed, one of them was a family member of mine lol I never knew him though. The story of the two submarines (American and German) that ended up in the Fjord is also a great one too. Our greyish "neutrality" is also very clear by example of allowing American soldiers to land in Shannon Airport, something is still a highly controversial issue 🙄 🤔

Over 70,000 Irishmen from the Repiblic joined the British Armed Forces which is a figure that modern historians agree on. Previously it was thought to be 50,000. Also thousands of Irishmen served in the armed forces of the USA,Canada,Australia and New Zealand. Thousands of Irishmen and women worked in these countries also therefore obviously helping the war effort. Thousands of Irishwomen also worked as nurses in the forces of the aforementioned nations. At one stage Churchill advocated an Irish wing of the RAF. It was an Irish woman who was a meteorologist who passed on weather conditions to Eisenhower who as a result of this information gave the go ahead for the D-Day landings. The latter historical fact is never mentioned in history books or documentaries. Eisenhower acknowledges the fact in his memoirs. Irish regiments that had Irishmen from both North and south earned a high reputation during the hard fighting up the Italian peninsula that the Germans from a respectful combat point of view referred to them as the "Irish SS". The famous bridge that would be captured on D-Day by the Britsh Parachute regiment that would be later called "Pegasus" bridge was originally called "Antrim"(this is a county in Northern Ireland) bridge due to Irish paratroopers that came from this county and from both sides of the Protestant and Catholic communities. Churchill gave a glowing tribute to the Irishmen who joined the Allied war effort and the gallantry awards they received in a poignant speech in the House of Commons just after the war. Ireland get's criticism for it's official neutrality stance in WW2 but it was a belligerent neutrality that favoured the Allies.

Given the legacy of terrorism and thousands of deaths on these islands, I'm not sure that's something worth bragging about. Also worth pointing out that the only reason Ireland was originally conquered by Queen Elizabeth, the Virgin Queen, was because of her Irish counterpart agreeing to de facto aid her, for her own reasons, following which we had centuries of subjugation. One wonders how you refer to our Northern Irish and Welsh neighbours - I suspect you wouldn't deploy such a laissez-faire usage of "Brits" then, loaded word that it is.

Yea lol this was literally some Irish fisherman politely asking the Russian navy to move like 20Km to the left and the navy agreed because moving thay direction didn't take long and not doing so would have caused a bigger headache hell the fact that it wasn't naval ships that approached the Russians probably helped matters making the Russians realise ah ok these guys just want to fish and have peace in the water

If any fishermen were hurt here it would of been a P.R. disaster for Russia and the Russians knew it. Proud of these men for standing their ground. People were having a little bit of a laugh at Irelands expense in the beginning, but they showed the world they won't be bullied
That's literally it. The Russians didn't want to kill any innocent fisherman while they were out trying to make a living. That would've been horrible on Russia's part and there would be retaliation. The fisherman didn't "scare" the Russians as much as knocked some logic and sense into them.
