Great video, definitely better learning the Italian names since that’s what they’re written in Italy anyway (for the most part), looking forward to the next cityquiz video
I don't think your France video is doing bad because of plonkit, just the video idea that a casual viewer wont watch because they can't name a single France department, your all subdivisions around Europe did well because you had every country, honestly I started watching, got fascinated in Iceland but after Finland I skipped to my home country, what I know all subdivisions of. But keep up the good work still really impressive stuff
There's a UA-camr called sweating geography who does a ton of videos of the 100 biggest cities in countries and regions (like Baltics), would be cool to see. How about Hungary 100 cities first?
Impressive pronunciation! If I didn't know you, I probably would've thought you were Italian. A few minor corrections (not that you need them): The stress in on the first syllable in: Teramo, Cuneo, Udine, Trapani, Ascoli, Pesaro, Sassari, Cagliari. It's on the second one in: Imperia, Savona, Verbano, Pavia. Btw how are you so good? Did you actually try to study the language?
Seeing you type Siracusa gave me a question. In the USA, many city names are directly taken from European counterparts. Sometimes spelled the same, sometimes different. I suppose it's fairly rare that they will look similar on geoguessr, and if they do, the language probably won't be the same. I'm sure pros have strategies and knowledge that make sure such ambiguities are easily resolved to the correct side of the Atlantic. But does it ever happen? Has it ever happened to you or someone you played with, going for the wrong Birmingham, Melbourne, Naples or Aberdeen? Something like that? And I'm not talking Portland OR vs. Portland ME. I mean different continent.
My ELO on GeoGuessr is only about 1200 and that has never happened to me. I mean, not only are all the obvious and non-obvious METAs completely different, but also the look and feel of North America is completely different to Europe. In my earliest GeoGuessr days I might have confused some Spanish town for a Latin American town of the same name - you have a greater chance of some dry part of Spain to look similar to some semi-arid part of Mexico or Argentina and the latter can have all white road lines occasionally, so this might have happened before I learned very much. This does not happen to Jake, though, especially if a town name is visible, because it will be written on a sign, which is extremely distinctive in design.
@@michaelwisniewski6047 Thanks, I kind of expected that to be the case. Just thought there might be exceptions where it's close, say the name is on a car promoting a business with no ther writing in sight. But i guess there will always be secondary information to give context.
Nailed most of it. Few mistakes he made, I write the correct version: Cágliari, Téramo, Trápani, Údine, Cúneo, Verbáno-Cúsio-Óssola, Sássari. Great job btw
jake lyons in 2069 - naming 200000 villages in china from memory
i think this is the best version! the ui on seterra is super sleek and satisfying :)
12:42 to create a custom Seterra map you need a pro subscription to GeoGuessr
I like the Seterra format. It’s a nice combination of the other ones.

Oh and Savona doesn't mean soap, we call it sapone. But the origin of the city's name is still uncertain.
Hey Jake, why not try and name all 1,052 European subdivisions blindfolded 🤣
Do Gotland municipalities

@@darkshoxx The times I've seen pros send wrong side of the atlantic is when there's just forest and no road markings.
