I've got this, and it absolutely rox. The only thing I've found that comes close is the Philosopher's Tone. And Diamond are truly kings among men - awesome folks to deal with.
@dreamofways - Close. The highest peaks are brought down and the lowest are brought up, to average out the overall levels. If you kick on your compressor with the level set at unity gain, then your signal will initially sound quieter due to the squashed peaks. This is why compressors "makeup gain" knobs. -PGS
A compressor basically evens out all dynamics. All softer pick attacks are brought up and all harder attacks are limited to relatively the same output level. Depending on the setting, some compressors can affect the tone. Sometimes making it bassy, but more frequently making it brittle. The tilt EQ in this case in addition the "high cut jumper" is used to compensate for this.
best compressor i've ever used, and the only one i've ever liked - although i'm sure i'd like the empress compressor also. however, i've discovered that i don't really like compression, haha.
Great demo as usual Andy. You have saved me countless hours and dollars in buying and testing pedals. However, one pedal I would like to see demo'd is the Demeter Compulator. Any chance of doing it in the near future?
@Blacktaco07 Compressors really have to be heard in person if you are going to choose between two of them. Its really hard to make a good compressor-buy based on UA-cam videos. Its all subjective anyway - some will say, this and others that - but hey, they are both really really nice companies and I'm sure you won't be let down either way.
Could you do an A/B comparison between this Diamond compressor and the Rothwell Love Squeeze. I have whittled down my choice between these two compressors. Thanks
you'd probably want the eq for that. i have the sbm, too. i don't understand why you bought it if you didn't like it, because it was made to BE fuzzy (thus the name fuzz pedal)
The only thing that bothers me when it comes to compression and single coils is that it almost takes away from the chime and snappy response you purchased a strat or tele for in the first place... It almost gives a tele a Semi - or hollow body sound which isn't necessarly bad. it gives you two guitar sounds in one instrument.
I have a question. Coming from a punk and grunge rocker, can someone either send me a link or tell me about about what it would sound like if I were to put some distortion on it, or maybe plug it in to a Fuzz pedal?
Andy's awesome. He just pumps out the videos. We intend on doing thousands.

Please check out this demo in the Video Library section of our site for HQ, unprocessed audio. UA-cam was not quite there in 2008. Thank you,
PGS
just so people know the EQ knob kinda "clicks" in the middle so it can easily lock in the middle

the notes really bloom with the pedal on! nice demo!

Sunshine Daydream!!! Love Love Love!
just bought it. Wish me luck!
It amplifies a signal in relation to the input level.
does this compressor work for bass guitars?
Could you do an A/B comparison between this Diamond compressor and the Rothwell Love Squeeze.
I have whittled down my choice between these two compressors.
Thanks
pretty cool, 2nd Dead song I've heard from this guy, good taste. So far I like the Keeley best, but the "Sammich" for smoothness.
Whats the song called, when the video starts
Diamond makes a comp just for bass, a bit more expensive, but I'm sure it's worth it.

yes! i don't find it very dramatic as a compressor but i hate that sound. like i said above it just adds some body and sustain.
sounds great
@BetaSP how are you liking it?
You know what compression is?
what is a compressor and what is an eq for?
I have a question.

@ProGuitarShopDemos How about the EHX Hog pedal?
how's this sound on bass?
hows it work with a bass?
Thanks for the demo, but there's a lot of clipping :-/
How much?
what exactly does a compressor do?
sugar magnolia (8)
Ive had two keeley's they are noisey for my taste
And boy have you.
Mine is for sale! Anybody?
watch the video, kid.
not if you know how to use it
"Doesn't really do much in terms of a compression ..." ??????
open your ears buddy
