today i was just given this same mower for free. removed the deck and power washed the filthy thing. before trying to start the engine (new gas &batt) i notice when rotating the crankshaft there is a scratching/rubbing noise coming from that "clutch/pulley set up attached to the bottom of crankshaft. i havent gotten onto google to look up owners manual yet but am wondering if i should attempt a start up or not before trying to remove that assy.
I am sure you got it going by now but, I would of started off by changing the fuel filter and completely draining old fuel and drain carb then fill with some fresh fuel. I had an husqvarna the neighbor gave me with the same twin cylinder kohler except mine is 18 hp and I believe all the L130 John Deeres had 23 HP Kohler Twins. My husqvarna and those L130s have the Command/Pro Series Kohlers which are some of better modern Kohlers made.
Any Transmission issues with your K46? If it's slowing down or not climbing hills, you can change the oil in the transmission. If it's not too late. I did on mine and it works like new again. They come new with 10w30 dino oil in them. From what I read, switching to 5w50 synthetic oil could bring it back to life. In my case it did.
No issues with the Trans. I have heard that the oil they use when they're is not the for these transmissions. I'm not going to open a can of worms with this since I'm not having any issues.
No I didn't. I replaced the fuse with the correct size and haven't had an issue with it. I'm assuming the original owner was messing with the starting/charging system at one time. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I was actually trying to see if you still needed help. Mine was shorting out. Found the short, which was blowing the fuse. In the corrugated line running along frame to the front on right side if your sitting on tractor. where the hinge bracket on the hood is...it rubbed through the line and was causing the short blowing the fuse. I was thinking that might be your issue too. All is good then!
I have the same tractor my did the same thing it's suppose to have a 30 amp fuse and it's probably because the headlight wire is running through the hood spring and shorts it out
Man that was a steal 150 I paid 300 for mines with a 130hours on it looks brand new

change your fuel filter. that is why you have to use starter fluid. filter is clogged or dirty
Did you ever find the cause for the fuse blowing?

Did it come like that? Or do you have the air filter & cover?
