I hate all the accessories on the recurve bows. T-T

Yes, but there's no such thing as target barebow in World Archery and there never will be. Deal with it.

If they're not your cup of tea then don't shoot them. Can't we all just respect the differences in the disciplines & enjoy our archery without silly elitism!?

those accessories make it possible to hit the 10 ring which is the size of a DVD consistently at 80 yards. Without those accessories, you are lucky to hit the entire target consistently. Which is why originally, archery was scored with hits and misses and the colored rings were added later. Olympic recurve is not for everyone. There are plenty of different tournament formats to please every type of archer.

Do you hate modern tracks and wish we went back to cinders, do you hate modern poles and wish we went back to stiff poles for the pole vault, do you hate modern tennis rackets that make the modern game possible (should we string rackets with gut again), do you wish all tennis was played on grass again, do you hate modern track shoes, do you hate the modern brushes used for curling, do you hate astroturf, do you hate computer designed bicycles, etc.? The stabilzers look big so they're distracting, but Olympic bows have no cams to reuce draw weight, have no rear sight at all (that has to be done by feel), the front sight can have no magnification and no level to make sure your bow is straight. How well could you shoot a rifle if you had a front sight with no rear sight, and no scopes at all? There is no release aid allowed, you must completely control the release hand, the most difficult aspect of the sport. You must hold the full draw weight of the bow, and control its release itself. The stabilizers help steady the bow but add a lot of weight, the more the better, so they add an element of difficulty and athleticism you are forgetting. They help a very accomplished archer improve, but make it more difficult for a novice, they won't make a bad archer better. Using this equipment is like using a good bicycle, not like using a motorcycle. The gear doesn't do anything for you that you don't have to work to earn. Compound bow competition is totally different, it's more like shooting a rifle, but people don't see the long stabilizers and don't get that they're 10x easier to use because none of the restrictions I mentioned above apply. That's what you might complain about. Shooting them is virtually like shooting a rifle. What the gear does is equalize the shooters, makes sure that it's the archer that makes the difference. The rules and equipment you see were being used back in 1972 and earlier with slight differences in materials. The most important change has been in the arrows which you haven't even mentioned. Lighter weight carbon compared to aluminum, but too light arrows do not carry and are too affected by the wind so there is a point of diminishing returns anyway. The rules have been the same for over 50 years but scores have been going up due to improvements in archers and coaching, not because the accessories have changed.
