Fixed the audio issue during TSD's part, which is the reason for the reupload. There's another turn-3 win playline I didn't mention here: Turn 2: 10th District, swing 2 Turn 3: Giant Growth, Giant Growth, swing 10, cast Thud, win Also, remember that you can Shock your own 10th District to give it a counter. It comes up sometimes!
Especially with Feather in play, shocking (or even interventioning if it survives that) your Legionnaire can be great, just be careful of red instant damage in response.
Dev I just wanted to let you know how much your videos matter, you're one of the only mtg youtubers I watch, and recently my childhood dog has passed. I spent the whole day watching your content and inhaling cool whip out of the can while trying to create a brew spicy enough to make her proud. Thanks a lot.
10:00 - One added benefit of Feather and Arcanist... if you put down a Feather with Arcanist (with target-able spells in the graveyard) you can recast them with Arcanist and if they target your creatures, they come back to your hand at end step! Sadly, having Feather down with nothing in your graveyard makes Arcanist a basic 1/3 creature.
When I built my 3-color Feather deck I added blue and went Jeskai. Beamsplitter Mage fits right into the deck and works like a discout Dreadhorde Arcanist. This looks a lot more fun. I am also interested in the version with Dreadhorde Butcher, I never even considered it before. Great video, I was looking forward to it when you mentioned you had a deck with Thud in it during your gameplay video.
Hey Dev, really nice deck. Wish I was playing magic because I would definitely play this deck. Love a good turn 3 win in stardard. Haven't played one since I made a boros version of a deck called Dogs in boats that craig wescoe made. Totally agree with you on going fast in game 1, so I agree with the sideboard choices. Good to see you finally doing game play vids. Cheers for the good content man.
Samut's Sprint is secretly very good with Kraul Harpooner. I don't know if that's better than the versatility of Integrity/Intervention, but sprint is more easy to be slapped back by Dreadhorde Arcanist, and a Hasty Harpooner can be Very scary. In my Boros Feather deck (that wins on turn 4 regularly) I do prefer the sprint. I scried so many lands to the bottom with it, it's really great.
I started playing this deck, 5 games in and i'm having an absurdly fun time with it. Cut 2 thuds for 2 sheltering light for B01, seems to work great. Tried out sammy's sprint as a combo with kraul harpooner, but it was too inconsistent
There was a 4 color version of this in modern, with phoenix and a bunch of pump spells and arcanist. I think it got hosed by the London mull not going through. Love the idea. Very hard to deal with
Im playing pauper on arena...i have four artifacts in my mono black deck...after about 15-20 games have yet to see a single artifact...the shuffler is messed up. Thanks for listening...i didnt know who else to talk to. Fml lol
Man, I was hoping to see an all War of the Spark deck. I know those cards from Allegiance work really well with some of the new Spark cards, but I currently trying to build an entirely new "solely Spark" deck, and need some pointers on fast take-downs.
Anyone playing versions of this after core ‘20? What changes did you make? I think Gods Willing comes in for healing grace. But the biggest move I’ve made now is that I went from Naya to Mardu. I replaced harpooner with Butcher (because butcher/thud is just too spicy to pass on), infuriate replaces giant growth, and I’m using Arrester’s Zeal instead of Colossus. Obviously, Zeal doesn’t give you all the power and trample that make Colossus great, but evasion is beautiful for Butcher (Gods willing gives it too), and when you thud for double damage with Butcher’s trigger, I think you’ll find that you don’t really need the extra 2 power. Plus, you can reuse Zeal off of an arcanist trigger (minus the flying). Did anyone see anything new in green that would make them think this should stay Naya?
I made a Jund turn 3 win deck also. It's on Streamdecker if you want to see it, and I made a video on UA-cam of it. We need to play them. I use the same concept but with Dreadhorde Butcher. I can do the combo without the Shock also. So finding the pieces to combo are easier and use the shock to kill ther 1or 2 drop instead, so butcher can connect face. The decklist is on my video too
@ Jacob Leusink the split cards when not on the stack have a converted mana cost equal to both sides of the card combined. so you can get Collision // Colossus back after casting it because arcanist is a 5/5 and Collision // Colossus is a cmc 4 spell but Integrity // Intervention only makes arcanist into a 3/5 while having a cmc of 5 in the yard.
I don't feel this is a deck that gets the luxury of playing a basic land and if it does, it's probably a Plains. Even if you're willing to treat Feather like a 4-drop due to mana color intensity, you're going to wish you had 16 white sources. Double Red is really nice to have, but you usually won't need it until midgame when you're swinging and activating with Tin Street Dodger and you probably have 4 lands in play. I would strongly consider: 4x Clifftop Retreat 1x Plains 3x Rootbound Crag 4x Sacred Foundry 4x Stomping Ground 2x Sunpetal Grove 4x Temple Garden 15R, 15W, 13G While Ilit seems like a subtle difference, you're pushing your chance of Turn 3 Feather up 10% and turn 4 Feather up 7%. You lose only 2% of your chance to cast turn 2 Dreadhorde Arcanist, though drop 5% on the chance of turn 1 Shock isn't great.
Very nice deck. I'm returning to mtg after a year of hiatus, so I'll have to ask a few friends if I can borrow their shocklands XD Beside those, the remaining cards are enough affordable to be provided in a single day of trades. I definitely want to try this deck out as soon as possible =)
I love watching your gameplays and stuff Fuck all the trolls that try to discourage you bro! You have a huge part of the community behind you js! Also great tech
A few suggestions for this deck off of a little bit of playtesting.. Drop thud to 2-3. 2 of thuds in a game is a disaster and the 2nd one is rarely better than any random nonland card. Spellbreaker should be maindeck and a 4 of. This card crushes a lot of archtypes is very strong, topdecks well, helps this deck against its Achilles heel, instant disruption and is strong against sweepers due to riot. The only downside is that it is slightly slower and leads to less turn 3 wins. I would suggest reckless over shock but I can see this card choice either way. I know its boring, but githu lavarunner is effectively better than tinstreet dodger. Now the secret sauce that my feather decks have been missing since I tried them when WotS was first released...... DOMRI'S AMBUSH. Holy cow-scales this card is very close to an improved thud. It is amazing with arcanist, 2 +1/1 counters and do 2 then 3 damage to blockers/planeswalkers, yes please. Feather on the board? Domri's Ambush has you, my man. This card is everything the naya feather deck wants and more.
I didn't hear anything you said for 30 seconds after you introduced the Dreadhorde Arcanist because I was laughing too hard. You were just so nonchalant on that joke.
I buy 4 booster boxes of war ot spark...and pull only 2 dreadhorde arcanists..how bad can my luck b.... ? .try 2 make do w 2 until I break down and grad 2 foils 4 40....uuugghhh....keep it up Dev luv u bro...a shining star.. in an otherwise dark net.....

Let's ignore the deck tech for a minute, which was great as always, and focus on the background for a minute. Respect for the Calvin and Hobbes, BUT, how dare it not be Revenge of the Babysat, the best book!
just on number alone: just roll back to a recent pro tour where mono-red dominated (Earthshaker Khenra, Chainwhirler... you know what I'm talking about), and Sam Black had to mulligan down to 5 multiple times in a single matchup, running 22 lands (or was it 21?). Anyways, 22 lands with zero scry or card draw is pure suicide. You don''t want to flood? No one does. But getting mana screwed is way worse. One more land, cut a 1 copy of Thud, honestly with 2 thuds in opening hand you feel completely stupid.
Another reason to hate red. I play sooo many decks that don't do anything til turn 3 or 4. Fun decks. Guildgates, niv mizzet reborn. Have to fight back with massacre girl orzov, or golgari but these two are slower than this punch to the gut. Or even better ambush. Egh!
I'll echo the choir and ask about Integrity / Intervention. I've tried it in so many decks, but I've come to realize that it's just not a good Magic card. You're nearly always unhappy to draw it. I've heard Guided Strike as a replacement, but that doesn't feel impactful enough in an aggro shell. If Dreadhorde Arcanist lives long enough to attack, I want a bigger effect to go with my card advantage. Cantrips are great because you can dig for a card that's better for the current situation, but this deck is so redundant, a cantrip loses a lot of its utility. I'd like to toss Domri's Ambush or Thrash/Threat into the mix. Ambush works well with all of your "targeted spells matters" cards, but at Sorcery speed. Thrash is instant speed so you get to cast it on your opponent's turn with Feather, but can't recur it with Arcanist. Either can lock out opposing creature decks if you have Feather on the battlefield. I like Domri's Ambush, because I can split it over two turns with Arcanist or pump Tenth District Legionnaire to 5 toughness while probably clearing out their best blocker. Thrash / Threat is obviously on an empty board late in the game. I'm not really sure why you stretch the manabase for Feather if you're not running a fight spell or Ajani, the Greathearted (for vigilance). Double white bends your manabase so hard that you need to be able win the game when this hits. Recurring Giant Growth is a lot better with a 3/4 Flying Vigilance creature than a 3/4 Flying creature. Edit: I can see why you'd want to avoid two mana spells, so Ambush going into the sideboard makes sense.
Fixed the audio issue during TSD's part, which is the reason for the reupload.

Which do you prefer: Jund T3 or Naya T3?
Xero that was my question too
Also a question, how does Feather interact with Arcanist? Do you get back the card you cast from your grave?
@@JBergmansson yes, you can get it back, Feather's effect says: "as it resolves", which comes before Arcanist's "if it would go to the graveyard"
Especially with Feather in play, shocking (or even interventioning if it survives that) your Legionnaire can be great, just be careful of red instant damage in response.

Dev from The Place - still spreading love, still being kind.
What a deck !!! and I think it's great with 22 lands, juste the perfect number. I will try this this friday. Thanks for the decklist
Fascinating you drop a naya deck this eve...ive been brewing up a naya list with a different theme. Love that youve started demo-ing on arena.
You know arxanist on 2 into triple growth (one from attack trigger) then Thud is also a t3 win.
Love your intros man, what software do you use to make those beats?
Sony Acid 10.0, Protools, and Audacity
Thanks!
Chuck Mangione on a shirt? Dev's got that! Turn 3 wins? Dev's got that too!

I love this deck. Nice magic effects.

Great brew, Dev! I was missing a few pieces on Arena so I had to add Domri's Ambush. Good times!! Thanks for all the great deck techs!

It'd be epic to see this in action! Please bring it up if you enjoy doing so :)

What do you think about unbreakable formation in the sideboard for sweepers?
Trust me, in the next few days I'll be featuring this deck on my channel. I love this deck and I'll have the pieces for it soon on arena.
I love the cover graphic for the video! It looks so classy.
This deck “feels so good.”

Love the idea. Very hard to deal with
Would the deck suffer too much if you replace the Guildgate with a Plains?
Each deck on Arena after the deck tech!!!!👍👍😍😍👌👌🌮🌮
Just food for thought... if you made it a mardu version instead you had sorin or revival available for recursion
Still. Dem beats.

Only card I have problems with for synergy is Integrity and Arcanist you can't pull it back not sure if there is a reason for that or not.

Does Samut's Sprint make Kraul Harpooner stronger?
Hey Dev, my feedback: Best way to show off a deck is to play after the preview :)
isn't there a 2 drop with Double Strike(AND TRAMPLE) in these colors...?
I don't know how Thud is more 'consistent' than the super obvious 2 drop
Dies to 1-drop goblin that pings and to Chainwhirler when you're on draw, so no.
You should show off your deck techs on arena
Sweet!

I've had this deck for 2 months now lol
Instead of sheltering light why not Assure//Assemble? Permanent +2/+2 for 1 more mana.

Im like kronk every intro
Look like i have to test this on arena
I'm making a mardu exalted judith deck. There there's some ideas.
If you went Jund instead of Naya, you could do Unlikely Aid in the main deck as both a pump and a replacement for Sheltering Light. Just saying.
Ah man, just used all my rare wildcards on arena
if you really want another white source why not just change the lone mountain into another boros guildgate?
because aggro
