- Опубліковано 1 кві 2018
- Watch the crew of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Hartford (SSN 768) in the control room as the submarine surfacing through the thick ice in the Arctic Circle as part of Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2018. ICEX is a five-week exercise that allows the Navy to assess its capabilities in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment.

Imagine standing in the wrong spot on the ice when it surfaces
Толщина льда меньше 1 м ? ))))))) Уха-ха-ха-ха даже наверное
How the camera moves. I thought it was a 360 video and tried to move it around😂
Nice job. Your crew did a textbook maneuver. Still the best in the world.
Actually, as far as I can see in the video, the ice doesn't seem to be very thick, about half a metre or so. Such ice (we often have it here on the Volga river near Saratov, Russia, of a similar or larger thickness during our cold winters, when it is around minus 15-20 centigrade for a month or more) can be cracked by a common icebraker riverboat. So was it indeed "Arctic sea ice" or some pre-prepared surface (very flat!) which had just recently frozen?..
Wow its like nothing happens from inside
wanse27 yeah ikr
bcs. thin ice
Silent thunder
Amazing video.
Извините, я не сразу понял, думал, снег утренний выпал на всплывшую подводную лодку, у нас снег в 20 см. за утро выпадает. Поздравляю американцев, в The Guinness Book of Records зарегистрировали?!
its like the bus..... Three come along all at once. Amazing to watch
⚓ Thank You!
wow that's amazing!
Cool (no pun intended).
Thanks for sharing.
researched criminal:"HAHA! They'll never find me here!"
(submarine breaks through the ice)
What are those wheezing air sounds as the sub surfaces?
Everyone is so focused there. No messing about
Pretty neat!
...i love you submarine...
As someone who served on a sub for 15 years the only thing I'm disappointed in is that I didn't get to do this
What was the air hissing sounds, figure I would ask you seeing you might know & no one answered that question when others asked it in the comment section.
А слабо пробит лёд,где толщина больше 3 метра??
Pretty cool
The north pole be like US RUF backyard i.e. battle ground... South pole be like a free for all man!
Amazing people in an amazing vessel
I would like to see more sub videos
i notice in ww2 a lot of ships would try to ram a sub when its on the surface...
why is it the sub that can take the pressure deep under water can't take a ship ramming it?
and the ship is not harmed at all??
weight is not hull strength, its just overall mass, the hull is thinner than the subs
yeah but if you ram the side with the front, the front is very strong due to its shape, but side is weak
just seems strange that the smaller stronger vessel dosnt breach the thinner hull of the larger ship
Small subs don't necessarily have a thicker hull. WW2 subs can't dive over 200m. Naval destroyers generally have 1 inch steel as armor.
My little Brother: "Why submarines is useless because they always sink"
Me:😆
I was there 2016, USS HARTFORD
only in war thunder ice damages submarines xD
That was a lot less dramatic than I imagined it would be. If not for the animation, and, the video from the outside, there would be no indication they were doing anything out of the ordinary.
I subbed
X-FILES STUFF...
AMAZING !
errr....no.
Probably a dumb question.. but will it not be frozen in place after a while? Will it easily descend again?
Было бы там что пробивать... Для американцев это наверное рекорд .
What a ride
:46 “wooooo....Hey, don’t fuck up the ice” 😂
outthasky you mean 0:46
"Dont fuck up the ice" quote of the year right here
Do they have to weak the ice first?
What did the buttons sailors pushed as they had an impact do? inhaling fresh air into the sub?
Mayheamk Blowing the tanks...or making the sub more buoyant
Looks like we both want more subs ;)
Please do "control room view submarine crashes into iceberg"
How does the submarine stay above the ice? Is it stuck?
wow
Fast and Furious!
Woow super
Sub
They are all so young?
Wait, why didn't everything shake violently in the control room like in the movies?
0:45 "Heeeyyyy, don't fuck up the ice"
*hops out the hatch, plants flag in the ice... "No Hooters, No Fun" Also, repair job looks good.
Whoaaa!
They didn't do a Star Trek impact-shuffle?
Its funny that in reality in the submarine notjing happens but in movies EVRYTHING IS HAPPENING THE SUBMARINE SHAKES AND EXPLOSIONS!!!! AND ALL THAT CRATY STUFF
What did a guy on right do?
Was the ice ever too thick an caused damage?.. This seems to be a risky maneuver with danger of damaging the tower
Good question. Yes it can be too thick to break through but the tower is specially reinforced to be quite strong. The main hull is even stronger - it survives great pressure underwater - and will not be damaged. Also they have instruments on board to measure the thickness before they go up. Practice, training and teamwork get the job done safely. It is an amazing feat!
К нас на речке лёд толще
עידו המלך
Лёд 20 сантиметров . Ерунда . Наша Акула пробивает 3 метра льда. Американцам надо учиться.
For the next war against penguins 🐧😂
Please i am not able to understand all words in the video could anyone please type for me the speech in the control room
a
Something's missing... oh right... where is toretto and his family?
Never seen THAT in a video...
0:44 "Don't fuck up the ice."
Too late
0:46 Eyy Dont fuck up the ice!
Why didn't they move a bit? I was expecting that kin of movement when a ships wrecks on movies.
Not even shudderd.Strong S.O.B
Cool video my brother is in the Army, I was a JR.R.O.T.C. Air Force
3 Sub's at that spot..being British I think one is a Trafalgar class, not sure about the two US Subs
Лодка всплыла в полынье.
Why would a submarine surfaces in the middle of arctic nowhere? Were they on patrol or something?
supplie delivery for military research in the arctic, might be a missile defense base or something of the sort. also they may just be doing drills for something that may happen in a future war.
Hmm, bizzare. Not to mention it's a Los Angeles class submarine
Старое, уже это видел )
Looks like 14”-17” thick ice.
0:27 what is that guy on the right doing??
Blowing down the ballast tanks I think.
Wesley Tebaldi - he’s pushing the emergency blow handles, one for the forward tanks, one for the aft. Submariners call them “chicken switches”. Once activated, the sub is going up.
But in this case, it’s probably just to provide a little extra momentum to make sure the sub punches through the ice.
thanks :)
Blowing the tanks! I guess it makes sure it's punching through..while leveling the boat, as it had a slight 7deg nose up while surfacing
Wesley Tebaldi o they didn't tell u, it must not be none of ur dam business...
de_subzero
Holy fuck.
What wrong with their radar doesnt work?
Страшно, вырубай.
now i know why airbags are not included in subs..
Reminiscing the Cold War days...
Ok, break out the Mojito supplies
My Good it´s Humor the Stop and Stop Park the Nave Submarineir´s it´s yes ! Polo Gelo Acek Gelo Continnentir´yes ! My Magic the Number SuBMarienr´s Army LIVE World Army Millitr´s .
Imagine being like a penguin and seeing that shit
Why no jerks?
3 subs in 1 spot?
Ed yeah, the Hartford, Connecticut(Seawolf Class), and a British Trafalgar Class
UK US annual arctic get together, they slaughter a Russian spy and barbeque him....so I was told ;)
Crashes? I think a more appropriate way is to say "breaks through the ice'" or "surfaces through the ice".
Mario Avgherino it's called "click bait". :]
Какого хрена эта лодка забыла в нашей Арктике?
pros
Hi
King Mars he
So disappointed, it didnt even shake a little bit
😳🇺🇸🤙🇺🇸🤜🤛🇺🇸😎🇺🇸
"Environmentalists" will say "reeeeeeee you are killing endangered ice!!!!!!"
🤔
Its good to think that you see 18 year olds piloting these sometime without some old man like in a airplane etc.
For reference... you need to be a commissioned officer in the Russian navy before they let you "sit sticks". In the British navy, only senior enlisted are allowed to. In the American navy you can be the youngest noob on the boat, have an alcohol related incident, busted down to one french fry and have your license taken, and they'll put you in the chair six hours out of every 18 for 90 days straight. Too, they make no independent decisions either. Everything comes from the Officer of the Deck or Diving Officer.
Seamen stains lay to laundry!!!
Well that was very anticlimactic
:-)))
ff9.
Lol xD
These ship casuses global warming
Смех да и только. толщина лда сантиметров 30-40. Я бы подпрыгнул хорошо и проломил.
I was expecting sumthing else 😒
Один я видел на 10й секунде что с потолка капает вода? Ну тупые!)))
