Had the honor of playing a background actor in this film, I saw this movie at my school’s film festival last month and I really appreciate the fact that I’m in the trailer!
Which one are you?
@@missylou725
The one that needs attention 😉😉
Good for you dude. Onwards and upwards. All the best.
So cool!!

My husband played a background role and we actually had the amazing experience of watching it when they played it at the SCAD Film Festival in Savannah, GA. This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It keeps your attention throughout the entire film and I cant tell you how many times I cried!! I cant wait to see it again!
I had side role & I seen it at scad too. Congrats
My mom is from Savannah, GA! Are you from Georgia?
Agree!!!! It's one of the best movies I have ever seen as well, and it kept my attention the entire time. I was moved with so many different emotions throughout the entire movie! The cast of actors are so elite and incredible at their craft. You thought you were watching real life play out!!! It's an amazing film!
@@moebetterblues2744 Well, fascism IS a real life. Still.
Serious question: how do they handle Nick Offerman's character in the film? Is he a stereotypical Hollywood MAGA bigot with no redeeming qualities, or is he a fully-fledged and nuanced character?
Yes, we all saw Baba Saheb at 1:40, and it's a shame that Bollywood never accomplished this, so Hollywood stepped in.
AMBEDKAR POWER!
❤
Man people are crying already here😂
Who?
It's so sad to see that the Savarkar movie also going to be out in Bollywood but our honoured Ambedhkar 🥲
I have not positively anticipated seeing a movie to this extent in a very long time!! Isabel Wilkerson's 'Caste' is a tour de force. Ava DuVernay is one of the absolute greatest filmmakers of this generation! We have two exceptional and woefully underrated actors in Ellis and Bernthal. Can't wait!!
loooove bernthal MMMMM everything he does he just gives so much life to, he's a powerhouse actor
Bernthal is so underrated, he's a very good dramatic actor to the level of Tom Hardy imo. And for what I've heard of this film (and also judging by her previous work) Ava DuVernay should be getting the Oscar buzz that Greta Gerwig is getting.
@@butterflybunnyunicorn2518 I agree! 💯. I was shocked Jon Bernthal wasn't nominated for an Emmy or GG for his performance in 'We Own This City'. I completely agree about Ava. 'Barbie' was a cutesy, entertaining film. But, by all accounts, 'Origin' is an Epic Achievement that has the potential to elevate and shift human consciousness in a more positive direction.
I looove Aunjanue Ellis and Bernthal is always great.
I don’t go to the movies anymore because it’s often too loud for me, and my ADHD can make it hard to pay attention. When I saw this trailer, I couldn’t wait until it came out. It was better than I expected. I’ve loved Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor since The Mentalist, but she really shows her acting chops here. There are so many phenomenal actors. It’s a masterpiece. They all should be so proud.
This film 100% left me speechless. Ava DuVernay remains one of the best filmmakers of our time!
Where is her Oscar?
You saw the film? or are you commenting on this trailer?
its obvious these are 'paid-for' comments..... here is a real comment, she has barely even made any movies and you call her the greatest filmmaker? lol so sad
I saw the film.@@Buzz_Kill71

Aunjanue was in Men of Honor, Ray, etc .she's been doing her thing excellently for decades now. 🎉 if you call that overacting, yeah, I guess.
This film is what happens when sincere education meets creativity. Such an informative film. I learned so much through this film.

When Dr. Ambedkar shows up. Absolute shivers!
Do you support Dr Ambetkar ?
If yes then why do you say JAY BHIM JAY MEM like Ambetkaar was pretty clear that ALL MUSLIMS should leave INDIA and was not a fan of JIHADI Terrorism of MUSLIMS , why not promote that ??

@@InjusticeinIndiaand in same manner he had said that if Hindu Rashtra will ever made it would be the most disastrous thing for Dalits and backward classes of the country, stop spreading hate we can see through your fanatic behaviour ..,,
Dr Ambedkar first articulated caste inequality in Indian society. He was of the opinion that nothing can build on the foundation of caste. On the other hand, he worked for the 'annihilation of caste' because he believed that anything that is built on caste is going to create inequality within.Making sincere efforts, he tried to put an end to the evil practice of untouchability through constitutional provisions. contribution towards the eradication of social evils like untouchability through constitution needs to be seen as an effective means of ensuring an equal future for the coming generations.
Dude I hope you're a writer... This is so beautifully written ❤
Origin is an amazing and touching movie that tells the truth while explaining the intricacies of caste. Ava Duvernay is an incredibly talented writer, director and producer and I appreciate her sharing her gifts with us. I must also comment on the cast. Ellis, Bernthal and Audra McDonald were great and gave heartfelt performances. I strongly encourage everyone to see this movie.
Who is here to see DR. Babasaheb Ambedkar 😍
Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (14 April 1891 - 6 December 1956) was an Indian jurist, economist, social reformer and political leader who headed the committee drafting the Constitution of India from the Constituent Assembly debates, served as Law and Justice minister in the first cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru, and inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement after renouncing Hinduism.

"Caste: The Origins of our Discontents" was one of the best books I've ever read, I highly recommend it. Looking forward to this film.
I saw the film last night and bought the book immediately after.
I am keen to find out, how did you find the book?
@@toyeen2247 I'm sorry, I am not sure I understand the question. If you mean how did I discover it initially, I am not sure, it probably came recommended based on some other books I'd been reading or appeared in my Goodreads feed. If you are asking where I found it, I actually picked it up from my local public library, but this is one worth buying for sure.
It looks like a great film and all these great actors and if Jon Bernthal is in it that's proof of quality. I hope we see it in France very soon.
This looks incredible. Ava is just a masterful director.
If that's the case, please explain A Wrinkle In Time.
i like Jon Bernthal as a nice guy, he should play more of these
Had the honor of seeing this in a special sneak preview months ago and it is the BEST most thought provoking movie I've seen in a long time. I cried so much so I'm not sure I can watch this again but trust me it's worth it.

Few movies have the power to challenge us to see ourselves in history anew and leave such a profound impact as this film. 'Origin' is the must-see film of our lifetime and an overdue conversation we all need to have.
Perfectly stated.
What is supposed to result from such a conversation?
The trailer does not give justice to this masterpiece of a film.
Please read the book, Caste - Origins of Our Discontents, also. This is one of the most important works of our times.
Also read "annihilation of caste" Written by Dr AMBEDKAR father of indian Constitution. you will get the real, true and original picture of indian culture and community.

Can't wait for this! Love Isabel Wilkerson's books and everything Ava DuVernay does!
I had the pleasure of viewing this movie over the weekend. Eye opening. Tasteful depiction on screen from the book. Even though Ava tried to spare us through the horrific…
There was still no way, not to shed a tear.
You’ve done it again!
I cried through half of it
We remember you Trayvon Martin ❤
You remember or were taught a total lie of what actually went down it appears. Martin was guilty of attempted murder according to witnesses and the 911 tape. The first racial lie of epic proportions by the media and the left\Dems. The next hoax was the Michael Brown fabrication. All rooted in anti-white hate.
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Thanks you for releasing this movie, I had the pleasure to watch it when visiting the US and I'm sad to see that such an intelligent movie is released in some obscure online platform that hardly anyone watch at the end of May 2024 in the Netherlands. Meanwhile I would like to see this movie being shown in classes around the world or at least in my country. It is better than The Wave and Blue Eyes which are shown in our schools on this subject.

If the movie is as good as the trailer, how are people not talking about this!?
It's a shame because I thought the movie was brilliant
Very good question. It played here in Montreal for only one week.
I was a background actor for this movie and it was a wonderful experience. And the location for the funeral scene was actually the church I go to. Overall the experience to take part in something like this is so special. Acting is part of my life and this was one of my favorite days because I was taking part in not only something big but also in something I loved doing. I did not feel I was actually working because it was fun. everything in this movie needs to be talked about.

Origin had me thinking about the future. Seems like every year there's more and more questions to ponder on while watching films like this.
1:39 babasahab gem of india💙
It played in Montreal for only for a week. I got to see it on Prime. I am glad I saw it at home because I got the ugly cry so many times. The sentence "It was all a lie. They knew we weren't inferior". I can't imagine what it must have felt for those children who acted in the pool scene. It would be great to hear from them some time. Kudos to the team filming in India, that was magnificent and such important work. All bringing us up to date with the slow yet so quick Trevon Martin scene. And Nick Offerman, oh boy, he was born to play a MAGA. Yet the scene between the two of them never devolved into the hatred I was expecting. A very very special and important piece of work.
I can't wait to see film, so much excited to watch, moments of Dr BR Ambedkar (the father of India) in this movie. Jai Bhim
What an eye opener it was!
To add to this theory of caste, it just doesn't consider a particular set of people in a community but sometimes only your skin color creates discrimination in India. Although we are brown but we have more color differences among us than the entire world.

Extra special to see Blair Underwood again, especially in this magnitude (not just eye candy) and Audra McDonald too. She always adds extra juicy creativity to her work. I have a lot of gratitude for how she shows up as I had the pleasure of doing private security for her while she worked Frankie & Johnny on Broadway.
Although crying is a release, I wish I could still cry tears due to the subject matter of the film but trauma whether by bullying, terror, or dehumanizing has a way of desensitizing me from that appearance of being vulnerable. Instead, I dissuade it and developed what I call a super power to confront it. I left the theater feeling fully charged up about myself, and my purpose, intentionally and unapologetically.
That's why the best line in the movie to me is...
"It was all lies, they knew we weren't inferior."
