Thank you for this update. By all accounts it looks like it went well and most importantly, mom is holding him close. This little one has won our hearts over. We appreciate all the updates
He had a huge team of medics including veterinarians and human surgeons from various local hospitals, in a pioneering surgery, the first of its kind performed on an orangutan! They are an exceptionally talented team and Blackpool Zoo has done a magnificent job in coordinating his treatment and care ! He is doing well post surgery and mom Jingga was being especially attentive to him! Later in the day, he was kicking his little legs around and climbing up mesh walls ! more update videos to follow shortly on the channel ! Thanks for watching and commenting ! 🦧🧡
I saw the caption about Jarang's second surgery, and I couldn't believe the change in him - he looks all healed!!! And Jingga just smiles sweetly at her beloved little man!!! Afterwards I read the Zoo's statement and I am so happy that this surgery was a success! I can't wait to see other videos of him climbing and eating. Thank you again, Ape Tracker, for bringing this adorable little guy and his sweet Mama to us!!!
It was wonderful to see him and to get to talk to the amazing staff about him. On my last visit he was off show and I didn't know why. So happy that his surgery went well Janie. 🥰
He is looking well and was active later in the day, kicking around and climbing ! More update videos to follow shortly ! Thanks for watching and for your lovely comments 🦧🧡

Thank you so much, Ape Tracker, for uploading this video and keeping us posted. This is the best video ever of Jingga and Jarang. I'm so thankful his hernia surgery was finally successful.
He was very lucky to have a huge team of medics in a pioneering surgery, the first of its kind to be carried out on an orangutan ! His surgery and treatment was carried out by vets and human surgeons, and given that humans have a wait time of around 4 - 5 months for hernia surgery on the nhs, his treatment has been quite speedy 😊
I’m so happy the surgery went well. He’s my heart ❤ For those armchair vets in these comments, Jarang has been examined by a top notch medical team to figure out the cause of his development delays but have yet to find the cause.
He is doing great, and has more development milestones to come ! Later in the day he was kicking his legs around freely and climbing up the mesh walls of the enclosure ! He had a huge team of medics including veterinarians and human surgeons from various local hospitals, in a pioneering surgery, the first of its kind performed on an orangutan! They are an exceptionally talented team and Blackpool Zoo has done a magnificent job in coordinating his treatment and care ! Thanks for watching and for your lovely comments ! 🥰🦧

It’s obvious mom missed her baby! She is really holding him close. I think it reminded her of how special he is and couldn’t wait to get her little guy back in her arms! Great job mom! Thanks to the entire team that looks after and cares for all of these amazing beautiful creatures! Thank you so very much! Baby J is a very determined, feisty little boy! He has leaps and bounds to make and he Will!!! ❤️❤️
After all the disparaging remarks as to her being a good mother, she clearly loves her little man & is doing her very best. As is the zoo. Prayers for his recovery.
Very happy to hear the surgery went well. Now the healing process starts and praying for things to continue to go smoothly. Mom misses her sweet little boy. She’s giving him all the sweets kisses. Thanks for this wonderful update. 🥰❤️❤️
Yes Denise, he looked happy and relaxed with mom 😊🦧 later in the day he was kicking his little legs about freely and climbing up the mesh wall ! @@ApeTracker1Oh my word do you have any video of the mesh climbing? Jarang must think he’s in Heaven with his mommy taking care of him and his new found mobility. It’s amazing really.
While it is not quite Christmas, this was the best of all presents! The love between mother and child, the success of the operation, and the good will towards these lovely creatures is a welcome moment in our lives. Merry Christmas everyone!
O how wonderful to see him after surgery. There is a notable change in them both. Mom is more loving holding him close to her chest. He is more relaxed and gripping and holding on to mom. As was said she may have believed she had lost him. Maybe she didn't hold him close because she knew something was wrong with him, so she didn't want to hurt him but unknowingly she did cause him some pain. Now she knows he is better and he needs her love and support to get better so they can bond more. She has gown up higher up as to protect him. Many prayers for them both as he heals and they both heal mentally, emotionally and physically!❤
Oh, she must have thought she'd lost him when he was taken away for surgery, holding him so closely now. Thanks so much for this update, I've been worrying how he'd cope with a second surgery. ❤
Yes, the staff usually train the animals in preparation for events like surgery separation, so she will have had the best care while he was undergoing his surgery and post aftercare She was especially attentive to him on this visit Thanks as always for watching sand commenting, have a lovely day 🥰
Very heartwarming video of mom holding him so close. Curious to know how Jingga reacted while her baby was gone for surgery. Did she have anxiety until he was returned to her?
Wow she must have thought something bad happened to him to be holding him so close. I'm glad she's finally giving him the attention here needs hopefully it continues.
Holy mackerel! I didn’t expect such good news today. Wow. Has Jingga received some sort of training with regard to Jarang’s care? He’s already more mobile. He hasn’t done anything like the contortions he’s doing on Jingga here.
It is great news for this little guy ! 🦧🧡 Jingga was especially attentive to him on this visit, maybe she sensed she needed to be more protective of him post surgery ? He seemed to be very happy and contented with mom, and he was active later in the day, kicking around and climbing the mesh walls of the enclosure! 😊 He has a long developmental journey ahead, but he is determined ! Thanks for watching, have a great weekend ! 🥰
So happy to hear that Jarang has had his surgery. Jinnga is certainly giving him the “ keeping you close” treatment❤. She obviously missed him. It’s up to you Jarang to show that you can get stronger and stronger from here on in. Thank you to all the staff for giving Jarang the help he required😊
She's such an incredible mama! 🥰 It does seen like she's bit thrilled to be on display right now. I wonder if keeping them behind the scenes for a couple weeks might be better for her metal health. I'm sure ha ing her baby taken must have been scary. Even for such an important health reason, she doesn't know that. But I also understand the zoo has their reasons for what they do. But once again for the Jingga haters, WE TOLD YOU SHE LOVES HER BABY! Maybe now you'll stop looking for reasons to criticize and complain 😊
His lower limbs already seem more mobile and strong. The biggest reason he couldn't ride her normally is because of his lower limbs just dangling and him not having the strength in the lower limbs to wrap around her midsection properly. It appears he is more able to use those lower legs better already. I am so happy to see this after the disappointment of his first surgery not being very successful. I really didn't have the expectation of the second surgery being quite this successful, but glad it seems to have gone much better than the first. Thanks for the update.
I can't stop smiling as I watched this beautiful video. All of us who love Jarang and Jingga have been waiting so long for this moment. It is such a blessing to see Jingga able to hold her precious Jarang so close to her chest to love him and feed him. It is very obvious how much she loves that little man as we all do. He has stolen our hearts. It's going to be wonderful watching Jarang continue to heal and gain strength and mobility in the future. At one point in the video as Jingga held Jarang close, she looked down at her baby with such love and a smile on her face. Well done, Jingga. You are a good mother and knew all along how best to take care of your baby. Ape Tracker Thank you for a beautiful encouraging video of our sweet boy and momma. Most of all, thank You Lord Jesus for taking care of Jarang and healing him. Amen ❤❤❤
Jinga looks a bit traumatised i think. How long before this video had the operation been done because sitting up high where she is will stop any humans for stealing her baby that's for sure! Some people think/thought she didn't care, others said she was adapting to his problems, I was on the fence, I admit. I thought she loved him but didn't think she was so clever as to adapt the way she held him because of his hernia. I thought it was just her way! think I have been proven wrong, she is definitely aware of his operation sight. I just wish she didn't plonk him on her head when so high up! That's because it almost gives me a heart attack. I get sweaty thinking about standing on a very high pole!! I know she knows what she is doing and being high is natural. He is such a cute little guy who I have still not visited!!!
I don't know the exact date of the operation, however Blackpool zoo has issued a statement, which can be seen on Ape Tracker community page on the Jarang update post www.youtube.com/@ApeTracker1/community which sates his operation was in November, this video was recorded in December so, a few weeks at least has past post surgery She was possibly aware of the others in the group and determined that she needed to be more attentive of him on this occasion, but they are highly intelligent animals, and are aware of much more that we realise. Jarang does have a strong grip. Later in the day he was climbing up mesh walls, Jingga wasn't letting him get too high ! but it wasn't easy to get him off the mesh as he had such a tight grip of it! Thanks for watching, have a great weekend ! 🦧🧡
This is great news! I don’t think that many viewers understand that Jarang’s health and survival are extremely important to worldwide Orangutan conservation efforts. Zoo visitors are not aware of the many facets of care that Orangutans receive every single day because it happens behind the scenes. There has been so much assumption about Jarang’s needs, best interests and his presumed neglect by his mother, yet none of us have any idea how much conversation, care and planning have been in the works since Jarang’s issues surfaced. Thank you, Ape Tracker, for sharing this much anticipated news!
I don't recall seeing his legs move that much before the surgery. I've never had a hernia, so I don't know how much discomfort and restriction it can cause. Jarang does appear to be more comfortable and mobile.
@@ApeTracker1 Thank U for keeping us informed !! Jarang has special needs and we all wish he can make it and grow up ! And at least survive even if not like others !!!
Meaby Jingga was holding him with his leg in the past cause any other way she was causing him pain, and now that the pain is gone she can finally holding him closer.
I've always wondered if Jingga carried Jarang differently because of the hernia.. they can hurt when pressed on/touched ( (esp where it was located) and I always thought she might be compensating for that by the way she carried him.
They usually spend time, training them in preparation for the surgery, so it is not a traumatic experience If the animals can be reunited soon after surgery, sometimes the mothers can be sedated or distracted during the surgery and recovery
