I ride a Greenspeed Magnum XL and love the relaxed seating position and having my head up instead of being hunched over and facing down. I also enjoy the ability to cruise at a very slow speed without any need to maintain my balance or feel like I'm going to fall over. Finally, I like that I have a built in lawn chair everywhere I ride.
I love my tadpoles! Low to the ground, fast, agile and stable giving me a ride not unlike that of a go-kart at high speeds. They're just plain fun for this grandma with a competetive streak!
I ride a tadpole. I think it’s easier to know where the wheels are to avoid things on the ground (like potholes) because I can see the two wheels in front, and the rear wheel is directly in the center. With a delta, I wouldn’t be sure exactly where the rear wheels are, so it would be harder to miss a small pothole or rock.
Delta trike with indirect, under-seat steering most comfortable. Owned BOTH Tadpoles and Deltas for 30 years... Upper arms vertical at rider's side best, not forward or outward stretched arms! Steering pivots HUGELY isolate rider's arms FROM road vibration! 2WD Delta for running dog off road or towing grandkids in snow. Got stuck off road on both my Fatty and my Roady tadpoles. Deltas can be stored vertically upright in way less garage floor space (6-inch fold-out lever at top of seat back). 95++% of riders tour, get exercise, and view wildlife. Tadpole IS the BEST sports car! Not often seeing sports-car-riding though. Delta IS a jeep, SUV, minivan, station wagon. Delta tires most directly under the rider's torso AND any cargo, not the rider's knees! NO "Tadpole DISASSEMBLY" for ANY flat tire ON A DELTA! "Jus sayin." Twin deltas can immediately become a tandem, OR, immediately two solos, while ENROUTE! Buy two Deltas, but literally get three recumbents! Rohloff or other gearbox. E-assist. Wheelchair accessible, limited-mobility, 70yo senior on my 25-inch seat height! 3 Hase Lepus' owned here. Never outgrow a Delta Planform trike. Grow oldest on a Delta Planform trike.
Of course, always try out both trikes and see what you like best. Also think about what you are going to use the trike for. I use the ICE Adventure HD with a raised seat and a 48V 2000watt hub motor. 2 batteries of 48V 49A each and a smart BMS 13S 60A. I drive short rides but also regularly long rides. Fortunately, we have many good and pleasant cycle paths in the Netherlands. But the most important thing is that you enjoy riding a trike. And for off-road riding I prefer to use our home-built quadricycle.
Delt Trikes are death traps on 3 wheels, easy to tip over, will stick to my Tadpole Catrike Dumont Trike, LOVE my Dumont. Delt trikes will still cause neck pains, shoulder pains, wrist pains, lower back pains along with balance issues because of sitting so high.
Never tipped over multiple Tadpoles OR Deltas here, for over a 30-year period! Jus sayin. Nope. Not at all any pain caused by Deltas! Experience on both Tadpoles and Deltas here! Hase trike seat can be adjusted low to very high seat heights! Seat back can be fore or aft and leaned back or comfortably upright.
This video is exactly what I was looking for. Your explanation of the differences made my choice very clear. Thanks.
Glad to help! We love to help people find the right trike!
Just bought a delta trike.
Awesome!

I like them both. I've got two old tadpoles. Terra Rover and a dragonflyer.
Thanks for the awesome video!

2WD same on Delta trike as on a quadricycle!
That DOES work better than 1WD!
