OMG she is so fabulous!!! And wow she has written 3 books this year, I just love her spirit!
She's a mature 23 year old young lady, thrown into stardom. Like she stated, "shot out of a cannon". I pray she stays focused and does not allow the media, paparazzi, red carpet appearances to trip her up.

It greatly depends on the people you surround yourself with, but I think her emotional intelligence will serve her well resisting all those temptations. I don't doubt she will be able to deal with it gracefully (she puts so much thought into what her role is in society). I would certainly root for her if she runs for presidency... such a thoughtful, level-headed person.
She's a GLOBAL treasure!

Amanda has such an extraordinary presence. Being around her, makes you want to feel more intelligent and mature. I love her.
So glad she got the opportunity to be seen and heard. We have so many people who, unfortunately, are never seen, heard, or discovered. Her mother did an excellent job raising her and exposing her to the arts and sciences at a young age. And kudos to Warren Wilson her mentor and the WriteGirl Program her mother enrolled her in. Her mother saw her potential and guided her forward. And thanks to Jill Biden for hearing her, remembering her, and asking her to do the phenomenal inauguration poem that touched us all to the core. I wrote for many years but was not afforded those opportunities so I am glad to see people moving forward. I hope to meet her one day and share some Spoken words together. I bid her Godspeed. Amanda! What she calls “word play” really are “thoughts” and not just words played. Her words strike at “the hearts “ of many.
She uses ❤heart Values in her poems... Compassion, humility, gratitude, forgiveness, "assertiveness" (the Biden speech poem on no one will ever make us afraid ... We will have our fig tree... That stuff she said... ), Honesty... So on, she hits at the target 🎯 people's hearts.

Amazed and speechless...!!! That's how I was left when I first heard Amanda Gorman, the youngest American poet to recite a Presidential inaugural poem for President, Mr. Biden. In fact, being a Jordanian veteran bilingual English- Arabic Translation Specialist, I couldn't help but express my true admiration and appreciation of Miss Gorman's wealth of strong vocab. My admiration was motivated by my own love of poetry, & being attracted to special poets. Having heard those golden words she uttered, truly I felt am "more American" than Americans themselves; with such words as "pride, might, power, & the like. Long live Amanda Gorman.

Diop's book was originally written in French then translated to English -- both at the highest standards of the respective language.

She actually believes she's a "national treasure" and made it to the top because of her writing "ability". The "hill" she climbed over was made of hundreds of writers with actual talent but check all the wrong boxes in 2023. She seems like she'd be a better actress who's pretending to be a writer.
She is a Pisces which is ruled by the feet.
She is a fine spoken word performer. On the page, her poetry is mediocre. Her metaphors are not unique, and her images are trite.
We agree on everything apart from the fact that you enjoy the way she performs her poems. Personally I don't , it feels overly theatrical and though theatrics can be skillful in her case they aren't. But really now we agree on the most important stuff here... this poetry is at best mediocre . Perhaps people think this is groundbreaking because they haven't read much modern poetry and have nothing to compare it to.
