So many miscalculations are accomplished right here. Skip E. Lowe possessed terrible judgment, no tact or consideration at all, for Ms. Woodlawn. Essentially, he was abducting her words. She couldn't discuss her life or history. She couldn't express herself. Her spoken thoughts were continuously cut off by another rude interruption. To delve into the persona of someone you interview, allow them room to gain confidence. If the individual feels secure, barriers will drop and the guest will converse more openly. The interview will be a success. Never, ever act like this vapid, narcissistic host, speaking to and filming someone who deserved better treatment than what she got.
I adore Skip, but MY GOD he spoke and cut off EVERYONE! Always at the best parts too. At least he’s an equal opportunity offender and did it to everyone. 😭

andy did drink. he did do drugs to a very limited extent cause everybody around him was offering them to him. but he never did hard drugs or had addictions. He would pretend to take them sometimes to fit in. I think prescribed drugs were the bigger addiction. He had endless health issues throughout his life. In his diaries he is visiting his doctor & skin specialists all the time.
He didn't like Madison Avenue types because he was afraid they would discover his secret....that he was really a nothing. His "flock" was who he was. Without them, he was nothing. HIs art was anything he could get away with. Holly Woodlawn was the only one with any talent at all. Jackie was a "wanna be" something. Candy Darling was a successful "face." But Holly Woodlawn had talent, imagination and insight. That's why he lasted. He learned early on that all these crazies were usable commodities that he could use to further his vision of what he wanted to be. If you can't be a big fish in a big pond...then you be a big fish in a small pond. The least competition you have, the more opportunity comes your way.
Andy was "a big fish in a small pond." He had to hide from the Madison Ave people who woulda put him in his place. Yup. Yet somehow this allegedly talentless fraud's reputation, and the prices paid for his work, still continue to rise, decades after his death, while the Madison Ave people are already forgotten. I forget, how does that work?
Holly emerges as a pleasant person with a good sense of humour. Skip was more feminine than the trans women of today. Wish we had trans women like Holly and Candy today.. Too bad no one told Holly to adjust her wig. Her dark hair is showing through in her forehead.

He is the worst interviewer. His questions are moronic and he constantly interrupts. I wouldn’t sit through this except Holly is so fabulous.
