Welcome to the club, Tudor! I said it before but we share so many cameras and lenses in common! I bought the Zf early this year and it has taken over my collection. I started with the 40mm f/2. I also have SLR lenses from the 90s that adapt well and are giving excellent results in terms of character and the best part - the autofocus works wonderfully with those old lenses! I think you'll really enjoy the Z5. I prefer the tilt screen but I accepted the compromise because of the styling. I don't regret it. I actually started with Nikon when I went from film to digital in the early 2000s and it has never let me down. In fact, just today I put my X-H2S for sale along with some Fuji lenses. I have been planning on picking up another Nikon as a back up for events....try some older Nikon lenses if you can. They are very affordable and just lovely. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Sold two of my Fuji cameras as I'm finding the picture quality just not good enough due to the crop sensor. I'm also thinking of going to Nikon as I have heard good thing about them.

Just a get a 10 year old Nikon D600/610 and see the quality for yourself. I own a 20 year old Canon 20D, a 11 year old Canon EOSM, and a 15 year old Nikon D90. All of them perform amazing today. The cost of all of these is less than what Z5 costs in my country. In my 30s and I love shooting older budget cameras. The Nikon d600 full frame will blow newer mirrorless cameras out of the water with its image quality. I was so adamant on buying the 'perfect' camera and lens that I ended you in the youtube reviewer vortex only to realize that what I already have is overkill. I collected these cameras as a hobby but only now have I started to use them. Got mysef a cheap 35mm and a 50mm prime - its a joy to see images coming to life.

I have really found the camera that best suits my needs and my budget. I bought a Sony a9 mk1 for 1500 euros new. good viewfinder without blackout, tilting screen, electronic shutter without rolling shutter, good autofocus, good construction. for my needs, street photography, photos of my little son and everything I need. Good camera that Nikon z5.

Wise choice good sir. i own it since it came out. plannig to upgrade to the mark iii, but it still keeping up with the rest. The A9 mk1 the best deal, even used i believe. Low light performance is outstanding, sensor readout is 6.2 ms, which only beaten by the way more expensive A1, Z9 and the R3. Fully stacked sensor, not partially like nikons new(sony) sensor.
i got flooded by rain several times, seems the only weak point is when the hot shoe cover missing.. winner winner chicken dinner.. wish you happy shooting with the A9!

Welcome in the Nikon Club. I switched 3 months before from Fuji to Nikon Zfc and Zf. My favorite lens is the 40mm F2 and the 24-120 F4. Yesterday i switched from the X100VI to the Leica D-Lux 8. Have fun with your new system. Regards Dirk

Cheers Tudor, it’s Sean in Atlanta. I also have the NikonZ5 with the 24-200mm lens, which I seldom use anymore, and the 40mm just like the one you have, which lives on my camera! I also bought the Z5 because of the two SD cards and not that one silly CFX or CF Xpress card! I also only take photographs so the tilt screen is the most important one to me. I absolutely hate the swivel screen and will not use it at all except as a handle to hold the camera. The images I get out of this Nikon are stellar! I love the colours and I love the rendering that this 40mm gives with the full frame sensor. You chose wisely!

Just got into cameras and got an xh2 and Zf to compare... Ended up returning the fuji Xh2. I wish it was a bit more reliable in auto focus for my kids, but even then like you said. A z mount with this 40mm just looks too pleasing , the Fuji couldnt get that feel for me

For me it was a kind of long and expensive way until I arrive to the Nikon cameras... I wasn´t satisfied with what I`ve tried along this way and I started to see what camera was behind the photos I liked the most... And I was mostly inclined to the photos taken by Nikon cameras. Now I have one and I like it a lot. It`s not the only one but it's the one with a take more photos. I hope that after this video people won't start to buy Nikon cameras like crazy and the prices start to increase with no limits... For that we already have Fuji and let it keep it that way... :-)

Nevertheless very glad to see you with Nikon. I myself is looking forward to buy a 40mm f2 or Voigtländer 40mm f1.2. So being a fan of 40mm , looking forward to see some excellent street shots 🥰 All the very best & Happy Shooting ❤

The argument of the larger full-format connection is in line with Nikon's advertising, but there is no visible difference to other systems in this segment. The main argument in favor of the Nikon Z5 is the low price!!! I find the use of 2x SD cards to be sufficient and saves further costs in contrast to all other Nikon Z full-format cameras with CF cards. I use Canon full-format and Olympus MFT. I considered the Nikon Z5 because of the low price and other things that are not included in this price category. Adapters for my existing lenses are also crucial for adding a Nikon system camera. As ridiculous as it sounds, the screen used like in "twin lens reflex cameras" is very interesting to me. As far as I know, no new full-format camera offers this. Which other "new" camera has this? The MFT camera OM System OMD EM10 Mk4 comes to mind. What else should Nikon come up? Small, inexpensive, fast lenses like the 40mm f2.0 presented. Thanks for your contribution! Good light!

Really love ZF but to be honest I really don’t see any real world difference in photo quality between it and my m4/3 until you get in really low light. Now about a week ago I got the voightlander 40mm 1.2 and that lens has some magic to it with the zf. I’m just not too efficient with manual lenses but the zf system makes it easy

    • @thomasa.243

In bright daylight, good conditions, no, there is no real difference between any modern camera in terms of image quality. There is of course a difference in design, build quality and how it feels in your hand. This is mostly subjective though

@@natureredux1957 no. If you have the same lens and same pixel density, shot using the same parameters with a sensor from same generation, you would not see a difference in terms of image quality. The image with the smaller sensor would just appear zoomed in. The problem more often than not is that full frame cameras are where the money is and thus, better parts are given to them. Whereas with smaller sensored cameras, you often get the older technology. Plus, 20MP on an M4/3 sensor is a much higher pixel density than 33MP on full frame. The M4/3 camera will in theory give you a sharper image whereas the full frame camera will have less perceivable noise.

I don't trust adapters, there are always a nuisance, a small problem, etc. Maybe the only ones that works better are from the same manufacturer (Canon EF to RF, Nikon F to Z).
But if you are into adapters, there is an AF adapter to put Fuji X lenses on Nikon Z cameras (Boryoza FX-Z adapter). You could use your Fuji lenses with the Nikon.
It would be great if you can compare the Z5 with a better Z camera. The Z5 is the most basic one, the slowest, the most basic AF, and the lesser image quality from all.

So, the reason I, in a previous post, where you did some rather uninformed Fuji bashing, called you a gear head, and not a photographer is easily defended: do a google search for your full name, and “switching”, and the first 3 UA-cam references pop up instantly… switching to different platforms, easily found to be 3 times ( not counting your Leica bashings, so probably more)all within a year, is not really a serious proposition for photographers…
