Absolutely fascinating, a blessing to have the tablets for Persian historical record and not just Greek reflections. The artistic craftmanship is amazing.🌿

I like how they keep their tablets in an old motherboard box. It would be a pretty good place to store something like that.

Lol yeah by barbarians they really just mean those people over there with a different ruler and god. Thrn come to find ouy alexander started practicing persian customs. I think alexander really had no clue the greatness of the persian empire beyond its military.

I was wondering why there were only men shown at the feast but this was not explained and the narrator contradicted the image this painted by how he described it: "the whole community coming together..."

Syrian laborers were building the great hall. I believe these syrian architects were apart of the same group( different generations though) that the romans must have used to build baalbek many centuries later. People always say the romans couldnt have built baalbek. Well i dont think they did i believe the romans commisioned local syrian stone masons and architects.

Gift giving? You mean TAXES? He simply offered a safe place to buy and sell goods, but that protection comes at a cost. He asked for merely some of your things, as opposed to what the pirates outside would have taken. These kings, rulers, and yes, tyrants convinced people to favor dependence on the empire, rather than risk their independence outside.

The sensationalism of this video is off putting. The overly dramatic music and over excitement of the narration comes off ignorant as can be. Unless you’re 5 years old nothing here should amaze you. It’s buildings made of stone. Find one built out of titanium and it would make actual sense.

"The first global empire in history was built on a model of tolerance and respect for other cultures." While I enjoyed this documentary; and I'm awed by the Persians' artistic achievements; and I'm sure the Persians were enlightened, by ancient standards; still, invading other people's lands, murdering their people, and stealing their property, does not constitute "respect for other cultures."

Not imposing culture, religion, language, and beliefs is a sign of respect. In terms of conquests, all empires were built through conquests, but what matters is the actions they take afterward. They can destroy everything, disrespect the culture of the people, and try to impose themselves, like what the Arabs, Romans, and Greeks did, but this was not the case for the Persian Empire!!

What…? The city began construction around 515 BCE. Iran was unified in 550 BCE by Cyrus the Great.
Dude a simple search of “history of Persepolis” would’ve given you that information.
      So ignorant.

@@lionofpersis bud, sumarian is the oldest culture known and whose written language also is the earliest yet discovered and deciphered. we actually cannot say much about the ages gone before the city of ur and the 'fertile crescent' region of the middle east because it belongs to 'pre-history' and could very well be antediluvian (before the flood). we have geological records for a world-wide mass catastrophe, however, that may actually have wiped clean practically all ancient civilizations.

Would someone tell me how they know what the architecture looked like? How did they figure out the buildings shapes and what was used on the roofs. All they do IS TELL US WHAT IT WAS AND NEVER TELL US HOW THEY CAME TO THAT CONCLUSION.

The Annunaki ,were the root ,see how the history has been lost ,like the book burnings in Alexandra, with the help of fallen annunaki after mankind's language was confounded/Tower of Babel , Religion made the divide deeper ,which leads to wars ,within humanity ,but this a new Location found ,with their prints or root marker/ethnic tribe which would be (Persia) , think of me as a GIANT hunter doing a ancient investigation ,that lead to the destruction of Sumer ,with malicious intent towards the demigods and humanity, without just cause ,and the one responsible for current state of humanity ,the father of hate and misinformation and idol worship , it's 2 of them actually ,and a few accomplices, the evidence is in the ,set in stone in the stonework that cannot be duplicated , like a water mark
