About that rant about wanting summons that do other things than raw damage, you do realize that Calamity has exactly that, in almost every tier. Even end game. For example, Yahron's son summon takes up multiple minion slots, has decent damage, but also buffs your minion damage, movement spe d, etc.
That's usually how most playthroughs of Terraria go. Pre hardmode requires a lot of random pickups from chests like Hermes Boots or tons of fishing for them, and the bosses can be fought in any order, but their drops aren't very helpful to progress. Hardmode you just need to upgrade existing accessories and craft wings, and the bosses drop the materials to make really good gear.
I really feel that credit is due here. When you have an idea you decide you want to go through with, regardless of how _utterly absurd_ it might be, you carry out with it to the absolute end, every time. That is shockingly rare. Hats off to you!
I do too, but there is an exception. The Stardust Guardian is the only summon (and armor set exclusive) that draws enemies to it and away from everything else. It's designed as a big distraction instead of an attacking force like the Stardust Dragon for example. I wanna see a summon that applies crowd control debuffs on groups of enemies but unable to attack by itself. That's something I can use. Damage is great and all but... there's always more.
I’m currently doing a summoner play-through, and I too agree that we need more variety with the types of summons. It’s boring having 4 identical clones of your strongest summon. It’s not a huge issue, but it would definitely be more interesting than “cool I got an imp staff, time to get rid of the hornets and have 4 imps instead”
That ending made me really emotional. As a UA-cam viewer, at first glance this journey was only 7 parts, but in total watch time, that accumulates to over 3 hours. I was going to reflect on just how short this journey was, but in reality, this ended up being pretty sizeable, even considering all the mundane stuff you cut out. Congratulations on your victory over this absurd and downright STUPID playthrough. It truly is an achievement worth celebrating.
the fact that his scuffed set up can destroy the expert moon lord while my mega-prepared one cant do shit in 10 attempts (on normal mind you) shows what skill is in this game
Just imagine: you are in a new world whit a old character and in the first day of hardmode "You feel vibrations form the deep..." "The blood moon is rising..." And in the next day "A solar eclipse is happening!" And "This is going to be a terrible night..."
*Everyone when they kill the lunatic cultist...* Vortex: It’s not much but it’s honest work Star dust: **Star cell farming noises* Nebula: Why do I hear boss music Solar: Thomas has never seen such bullsh!t before
On the summoner comments, when I play calamity I like to split my slots just because having a variety of combat AI's in my summon slots boosts crowd control and personal safety by a *large* amount, because different summons will prioritize targets in a different pattern. (Some stick close to you, IE The calamitas staff/sun god staff, ressurection butterflies will offscreen things.) Sadly, mods tend to like putting in summon items that do support roles only as auto-summon accessories (Like what happens with the rare sand elemental in calamity.) An exception to this is when I have thorium there are summons like bone lee's which impact your personal damage (For bone lee's, it gives you + base damage, and life degen.)
Major props for coming up with such an absurd idea and following through with it. This has been one of the most entertaining Terraria playthroughs I've ever watched. I hope you get more attention, you definitely deserve it!
A solar eclipse is occuring The blood moon is rising A goblin army is approaching The frost moon is rising dispite you not using the summon A solar eclipse is occuring again The pumpkin moon is rising The sun is imploding The moon is falling the Sun God has been summoned The impending doom approaches...
Somewhat new to watching your videos, but I must admit: With all the crazy ideas and the way to push through them, even taking your time to explain why X or Y won't work, as you did in a little intermission during the series, it's honestly a pleasure to watch you play Terraria. It's different and entertaining. Might also be the various voice cracks. x) Keep it up, definitely happy to have found this channel.
One time I fought golem using the staff of regrowth(I didn’t have the death sickle yet) from under the temple pre Plantera(before you couldn’t do that) and got it all the way to when it started using lasers.
moon lord spawns behind the background wall layer, so you will have to destroy the background walls to be able to see him. I found this out in my fargo's legendary mode run where I covered the entire ocean with gemspark walls thinking it will make me see better.
Terraria, we have swords that shoot lazers, wands that teleport you bows that fire stars from the sky and home in on foes and knives that can inflict poison, oh and we have a few summons... they do their thing sometimes
The terminated thing kinda reminds me of that one guy who does thia little jingle then the boss is greyed out with the word defeated on it. I forgot his name
Glad to see someone else suffers on the solar pillar, and the nebula pillar (it's really only 1 enemy that sucks on both of those). Solar has the guy that reflects projectiles when he spins and nebula has the teleporting laser shooting monster. The other 2 are easy to cheese.
one time I beat plantera with a relatively small arena (like, maybe 100 blocks wide and 50 blocks tall) with the full Tiki armor and accessory set (papyrus beetle and pygmy necklace) using the early-late hardmode (prior to the moonlord update) minions, and the vampire knifes. With no buff potions, no heart lanterns, no campfires. it was tense
Thorium mod has a spell to summon Wich allows you to summon a water bolt, crystal storm, demon scythe, golden shower, cursed skull, and cursed flames. Which I probably my favorite summon in that mod as it allows you to be really creative with it, and with the golden shower you can use it for pretty much the entire rest of the game
Why didn't u make the stardust cells? I get you don't want the dragon cuz it messes with your holy arrow stars but the stardust cells don't consume the piercing frames of bosses so it's just a raw dps increase that doesn't require you to aim or waste resources
As a reference to your summoner monologue, that'd be really neat, as the only support items I've seen from either calamity or thorium have been the sons of yharon, and profane soul artifact, or the banners from Thorium which let you heal from minion attacks or increase damage reduction based on used minion slots
I know I'm a little late to the party but congratz that was way harder to accomplish than a regular playthrough of any class or difficulty am proud of you and so should you be ... also thank you for the entertainment ^^
Btw for anyone at all confused on the dungeon jungle spawn subject the easiest way to explain it is that whenever a world generates the jungle always spawn on the opposite side of the dungeon which basically gives no code for jungle enemies to spawn in the dungeon and vice versa for the dungeon enemies in the jungle. Not trying to be that guy btw
What if there were summons that had health and could die, but they aggro enemies so that you could survive better, and when they die, you have to resummon them.
