Grupo Folclórico de Faro

Por ser o único na região, começou por se chamar Rancho Regional Algarvio ou, simplesmente, Rancho do Algarve. Na época, o Corridinho era considerado a expressão máxima das danças populares algarvias. Atingiu grande fama o virtuosismo dos seus tocadores e a habilidade dos bailadores nas "escovinhas" e "sapateados". A tradição oral estava também representada nos Bailes de Roda, sendo de realçar o característico "Baile Mandado".
Para além das recolhas e reproduções de trajes de finais do Séc. XIX e inícios do Séc. XX, são também apresentadas as músicas tradicionais da região algarvia no Cancioneiro do Grupo Folclórico de Faro. Os mais pequenos têm a oportunidade de aprender os jogos, as brincadeiras e as danças de roda dos seus avós no Grupo Folclórico Infantil de Faro.
O Grupo Folclórico de Faro é o anfitrião e organizador do FOLKFARO, o maior festival internacional de folclore do sul de Portugal, e único reconhecido como festival CIOFF®, organismo internacional ligado à UNESCO.
Embaixador da região e do país, o Grupo Folclórico de Faro efetuou inúmeras deslocações ao estrangeiro, tendo representado Portugal em Espanha, França, Marrocos, Canadá, EUA, Itália, Brasil, Turquia, Suíça, México, Hungria, República Checa, Chipre, Grécia, Rússia, Eslovénia, Bélgica e Polónia.
O Grupo é membro efetivo da Federação do Folclore Português e filiado no INATEL. No ano de 2002, foi distinguido pela Câmara Municipal com a Medalha de Ouro da Cidade.

Being the only one in the region, it was first called Rancho Regional Algarvio or simply Rancho do Algarve. At the time, Corridinho was considered the ultimate expression of popular Algarvian dances. The virtuosity of its players and the skill of the dancers in "escovinhas" and "sapateados" achieved great fame. The oral tradition was also represented in the "Bailes de Roda", with the characteristic "Baile Mandado" (Dance Warrant) being noteworthy.
In addition to the collections and reproductions of costumes from the late 19th and early 20th century, traditional songs from the Algarve region are also performed in the Cancioneiro do Grupo Folclórico de Faro. The little ones have the opportunity to learn the games, the games and the round dances of their grandparents in the Grupo Folclórico Infantil de Faro.
The Grupo Folclórico de Faro is the host and organizer of FOLKFARO, the largest international folklore festival in southern Portugal, and the only one recognized as CIOFF® festival, an international organization linked to UNESCO.
Ambassador of the region and the country, the Faro Folkloric Group has made numerous trips abroad, having represented Portugal in Spain, France, Morocco, Canada, USA, Italy, Brazil, Turkey, Switzerland, Mexico, Hungary, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Greece, Russia, Slovenia, Belgium and Poland.
The Group is a full member of the Portuguese Folklore Federation and affiliated to INATEL. In 2002, it was awarded the Gold Medal of the City by the City Council.
