The boss battles, their reason of betrayal , each with their own unique powers that made one greater than those who appeared before them. Was what made me enjoy the game. Plus the soundtrack.
I just love kain's speech starting at 7:59. Even after his defeat and fall into torpor, his armies scattered and slain, He's still simmering with vengeance. Ready and eager at a moment's notice to dish out his own version of sanctimonious, righteous violence. A true Warlord and Anti-Hero. I first was indoctrinated to the Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain 1 back in 1997 (and the following games in the series throughout the years) and i must say that i always thought of kain as my own spitting image (physically and more so psychically). Possibly the greatest computerised Anti-Hero i'd ever seen. Once, he sat on his throne with his trusty flamberge named the "Soul Reaver" closely at hand. His "Might Unmatched", his "Rule Uncontested" and his "Raw mix of Rage, Contempt and Malice Unrivalled".

Everyone jumped on the "This game sucks compared to the rest of the series" bandwagon when this came out. It's really a great game in terms of narrative, it's just so different from Soul Reaver and people can't handle different. 'Different' = 'bad' to most people. Pretty pathetic really.
I agree with everything you said. Just finished Blood Omen 2 today and for me, it's so much better than Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance. There are so many different locations to explore, different types of enemies, the soundtracks are amazing. Don't get why people hate on something that is different.

On SC2 they had Link for Gamecube, Spawn for Xbox, and Heihachi for Ps2 as guest characters. But yeah, MK would be cool. 👊👍🤘

So I played the whole series a while back... except for this one. When the time came between choosing to continue playing in release order and get BO2 or skip the often ridiculed game and go for Defiance I steered toward the latter since a random forum post indicated that this game wasn't as important. A little later I get the chance to buy this game and go ahead and do so. I figure "okay so the graphics aren't as pretty as Soul Reaver 2 despite being released after, it's still Legacy of Kain! How bad can it be?" ... Kinda glad I only spent $1.50 LOL
@@E101ification, the time of the plot is it's greatest "weakness", actually. The chronological order of the Legacy of Kain series goes: Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Defiance, Blood Omen 2. Confused? Many people were. The fact is, that Blood Omen 2 actually takes place in the altered universe created by Kain and Raziel in Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance. The Kain featured in Blood Omen 2 is actually the Kain of that universe, not the Kain we had been following for the rest of the series. This explains why Vorador is still alive, and also the existence of the Sarafan lord (who's beginning origin and his "prisoner's" are revealed in Defiance). Regrettably, as to how Kain had come upon the Soul Reaver sword as a result was never mentioned, unfortunately. I'm deliberately being vague in case you haven't played this game yet, I hate it when people spoil good things for me. Also, another factor that works against this game in comparison to the others, is it's drastic change in gameplay. Not that it's bad, far from it, but it IS different. This game can easily be overlooked, and in truth, you wouldn't miss anything. BUT, it is STILL a fun game to play, and if you enjoy the performances common to this series, I can't recommend it enough. Hope this helps.

I loved this game. I also loved soul reaver . None of them were bad . Different ? Yes but all good in their own respective state .
I loved this game honestly. There was unfornately a lot of material cut from it.

I've also heard that there was not a lot of cooperation between the SR2 team and the BO2 one as well.
So simply a different and smaller team. That would still be a problem at any rate I think.
