How come every "newbie" or "low level" team video shows beginner teams that no one can have at a beginner level. Im lvl 136 and i have exactly 5 troops that he has shown. None of them are at teal level. So, how is this beginner teams?
The goal of the video is to teach you how to build effective teams, not trying to just show you teams to use. If you just want to use teams that other people make for you, I have tons of videos with teams in them every week made for beginners and end game players. This is a video that’s supposed to teach you how to do it for yourself so you don’t even need me anymore. My apologies if that wasn’t more clear.

I don't have any good legendaries yet (level 50ish), but i found 2 Rangers and an Alchemist to do amazing work. +1 to yellow, brown and red (Alchemist trait). It only takes 2-3 red/brown matches and a good yellow convert to do some decent damage. About 34 damage per shot, semi-scattered.
Level 270 here, and no luck with the "good" Legendaries so far. However, Fomorian was in the shop last week, so I pumped him to Legendary status. My lineup: Slot 1: Titan tank with blue weapon (Frost Dagger, Blue/Purple, is really nice) . Slot 2: Fomorian ( Green/ Brown) , "the Legend" Slot 3: Gorgon (Red / Brown) Slot 4: Zephyros ( Blue/Yellow) Banner: Kraken - Beats almost all early game ( level 400) crap Legendary decks, has a lot of HP from Giants (including Barrier from Titan) , is very fast ( all start with 50% mana right from the bat) , replenishes mostly instantaneously, has large board and battle flow control, AND uses one shop card and two basic reward cards. Fomorian generates mana and enables combo chains, Zephyros is a tiny bit lack luster (but is a very thematic and ideal color match) , while "rare" Gorgon is glass cannon DPS who destroys deck and board coordination of the opponent as well.
I did stop making Gems of War content, so I'm essentially retired from that! I've left the Gems scene even as much I miss making stuff for everyone in the community side of things.
Another great video, Keylime. When you cast Mountain Crusher, won't it refill it's mana first on the brown explosions? How do you get the brown mana to the troops below Mountain Crusher?
Mana "spills over" once you fill up a troop. So if I got a surge on a 7 match of gems for 14 mana, 11 of it would go into Mountain Crusher and the remaining 3 would go to the next brown troop. When you're getting multiple 3 and 4 and 5 matches at a time, all that mana spills over to everyone who needs it.
When you're first starting out it'll only explode a handful of gems like you said. But the number of gems being colored like that means it'll increase as you gain more magic stats. So as you level more kingdoms to 10, get more power levels on kingdoms to 5 and then 10, do more underworld...it'll go up! 7 is already a really solid number, though. That'll get most of em!
I played pvp against this guy that had a troop that does 16 scatter damage any idea what it's called. Also I am looking for a weapon that can create brown gems.
So, I got my first legendary. Took a couple of days only, thanks to a level 10 8-0 Arena run getting those keys. It's Forest Guardian. What can I do with it? :)

Unfortunately there isn’t much team building that’s going to be super effective at quite that level, but you’ll quickly get the troops you’re after if you follow the advice I’m the guide! My recommendation would be to see what troops you have that either create mana or explode gems and build teams with them in it. If you can get two mana generators and two damage dealers at that level you’ll be sitting pretty!
Not particularly unfortunately. The giving life part isn’t so bad, but generally Gems of War rewards offensive teams vs defensive teams. The faster you can kill the enemy team, the faster you’re going to get your resources and levels. It’s all about balancing strong damage output with good mana generation so you can just keep on casting spells as often as possible!

That and unless u have a full brown board...the gems of colors around the brown exploding ones fills your other troops
