Happy to see a dirted tank. Sand is vastly superior to gravel. 2" will prevent soil from entering the water column.

With 2" of sand the water is clear day one.

Oh man… only just discovered this channel. Was going to ask a question about the osmocote plant fertiliser but looks like I am too late😢. Peace brother. Looks like you are into bigger and better things now (ie not utube).
Your aquarium journey seems similar to mine. Gave up on the high tech, liquid ferts years ago… I like cheap. Dirt, cheap garden ferts, all sounds good to me.
My question was ‘how do you refertilise an old depleted dirt substrate’ with the osmocote? I understand you load up a tank first when you set it up initially but what happens after a year or more? I am thinking eventually the plant growth will decline. Maybe tearing up an old tank and starting again is the only solution? Have you ever refertilised? How? Expensive aquarium root tabs are not for me. Common cheap garden fertiliser is my aim like the osmocote.

Welcome back. A recommendation to appease the UA-cam overlords I've notice shows that gives one or two videos a week that are uploaded at a consistent schedule seem to do a lot better than trying to upload as many videos as possible.
