What is grinding wheel specification?
Diamond/CBN grinding wheels (super abrasive wheels) can be applied to various specifications by combining "abrasive grain (abrasive grain type)", "grain size (abrasive grain size)", "bond strength", "degree of concentration (grain concentration in bond)", and "bond type (bonding material)"
What is grade of grinding wheel?
Grade: The term "grade" as applied to a grinding wheel refers to the tenacity or hardness with which the bond holds the cutting points or abrasive grains in place. It does not refer to the hardness of the abrasive grain. The grade shall be indicated in all bonds and processes by a letter of the English alphabet.
What are types of grinding wheels?
It includes:
Centerless Grinding Wheel.
Cylindrical Grinding Wheel.
Tool Room Grinding Wheel.
Surface Grinding Wheel.
Gear Grinding Wheel.
Bench Grinder wheels and.
Grinding cup Wheel.
Roll Grinding Wheel.
What is Grinding?
Grinding is a machining process improving the surface finish of the job and producing small chips. The tool used for this process is the grinding wheel. It is a cutting tool in which millions of microscopic abrasive grains are bond together. Here, each abrasive grain acts like a spiky tool. As shown in the image, the abrasive grains are held together in the porous structure of the grinding wheel by a bonding substance (bond). When these grains come in contact with the surface to be cut, their sharp microscopic edges can cut the material on the surface. Like any other tool, the grains lose their sharpness and are to be regularly removed to allow fresh new grains to come forward. The abrasive grains are held together by a bond and while cutting, the grains get free from the bond.
The grinding wheel comprises of following items:-
1. Abrasive grains - Cutting takes place due to them.
2. Bond material - Due to which, abrasive grains are held together
