      Cool video
I'm only starting to grow my beard 19 days growth my checks grows slow but my moustache and area surrounding lower lip and chin grows in quicker
My whole hair on my face feels like
pubic hair and It scratches I tried beard oil it helps for a while softens the hair then dries up within an hour and goes back feeling like public hair
What should I use and I want to let it grow for at least 3 months and I would like a nice beard but the itchyness can be annoying

I have a ginger beard but isn't a bad looking one as I let it grow. Been doing research about my situation on having a blond head and ginger beard. The whole reason I grew this beard, I missed having hair on my head lol. Can't grow it on my head though no more so now trying to grow it on my face. I've never grown a beard before until now hitting my mid 30's. I've always preferred clean shaven since before this time. Wanted to try something new so decided to grow a beard right. Man, all those years shaving my face really added up because my beard has been growing like crazy. Kinda excited to how much, thick etc my beard is going to grow. Anyways great episode, keep up the great content and I'll stay tuned.

Blow drying is a def at times, but I do not use it everyday. Gets my beard going in the direction I want it, which would be down! Always on low heat. As the Sultan of Silver taught me and I quote " Heat plus tension equals direction"

Dan, great information as always 👍👍
I would respectfully disagree with combs being useful for shorter beards. Initially I found the boars hair brush to be really useful, and a comb, not so much. It wasn’t until my beard was off my face and started to get some length that I found the comb useful.

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  6 років тому +2

Oh I needed and loved a comb for my short beard. Could be the different textures of beards I guess. I like the comb to massage and get into the skin, which is my more firm and better than a brush for that purpose. Get the blood flow circulating, which has been proved with a comb. If anything, for that reason alone.

    • @thomaswillingham1973

Hi Dan I’ve been growing my beard for over 2 years now and had to trim it here and there because I work in a kitchen and need to keep neat for service. I never took into consideration how important it was to keep a healthy beard and the routines and products needed in order to achieve a healthy long beard. My question to you is.. am I too far into the journey to reverse the damage that I have created such as split ends and brittleness to restore the beard or am I better off shaving it to a shorter length and starting again? I’ve started to take better care and maintenance in probably the last couple of months but I’m worried it’s too late and the damage can’t be reversed. Thanks for your time!

Great video as always! Two tips. 1- don't feel obligated and/or overwhelmed to try everything all at once. Don't be afraid of moving a little slower and simply add one product at a time. 2- don't be "bulldog-matic" and force someone else's technique blindly on your own beard and face. Don't be afraid to experiment with what and how much. You, and your beard, are uniquely you.

  • @curtisstahl

My tip or advice is to just let it grow. Many times those patches that you're concerned about will fill in or cover up with time. Accept your beard as it is and do not compare it to others. Realize that professional beards pictures are photoshopped to look fuller just as much as waists are to be smaller. If you look around at normal people, we all have imperfect beards.

My #1 tip would be to ditch the shampoos and conditioners for your head hair and buy a beard shampoo. I was skeptical at first, but once I bought a beard shampoo and beard conditioner/co-wash, the game was changed. I also appreciate hearing how others keep their beards “professional” as I am getting my masters degree in biomedical sciences and after that I’m going to physical therapy school. I’ve had some physical therapy school interviews and I’ve done my best to keep a beard and have it presentable for an interview for physical therapy schools. I still keep the beard for interviews, however it’s significantly shorter. I agree with you about the double standard, it sucks. However, I’ve came to the conclusion that Since my beard grows so fast major trims here and there for the sake of following my dream is a sacrifice I’ll make. Plus once I’m in school I can grow it and once I’ve secured my career I can grow it haha. Keep up the good work man!

Great video. Just stumbled onto you channel. I’m about 4 months into my first real attempt at a beard. My problem I think, is impatience. I freak out over every sly away, or little curly hair on my sides that I can’t get to lay down. I’ve tried circle brushes but I guess they’re just not long enough. Any tips on that? Also, when I first started I trimmed my neckline way to high. I’m trying to play catch up, but it’s tough, as I trimmed it a few times before seeing I was doing that wrong. Keep wondering if I should just go real short and kind of start over. It’s so hard to just be patient.

The comments are doing a fine job supplementing your video. I can't argue amounts of beard oil for anyone's beard -- my skin is oily and my beard doesn't take much -- but I'm not sure "rubbing it all around and getting it into fingertips" works well because beard oil is intended to absorb quickly. I rub once quickly to spread (sometimes just on fingers) and then on skin and in beard. I think otherwise the beard oil is going into my hands. This is a great video, and one of few with comments not just "worth reading", but "must be read". (Except this one, perhaps).

I always wondered why my beard would itch after so long of not shaving, I used to use hair shampoo on it, but since I've started growing it out I've learned a lot from watching videos. Now I use beard oils and butters and have a pretty good general routine, and it's doing a lot better than I expected. Your videos are great and very helpful, and you've replied to questions I had and pretty fast and I really appreciate that. If I could suggest one tip...
If I'm going out and want to smell as good as possible, I'll reapply some beard oil after I've applied balm. Balm has a tendency to smell a little different if not slightly muted, from beard oil and not quite as pure a scent.
My routine is, towel dry, beard oil, balm, blow-dry to style then a few drops of beard oil
applied to the outside of the beard and combed in to final style.

I love applying beard oil in my comb, the teeth catch the oil and i can slide the comb flat against my skin, like as i'm pushing the oil out of the dropper and swooping it in a fast motion across the comb and its a thin line of oil in the teeth, it work perfect for me, way better than if i use my hands, it feels like i'm not getting much oil to my skin, have also put the dropper in my beard to my skin and sliding my comb flat again my face, works just as good as well

Then I started watching the ole UA-cams and was shocked. I had no clue it took the care that it needs. But once I got it figured out it has payed off and my beard feels so much better.
One tip that I needed at the start was on washing my beard. I thought regular shampoo would work. Then after research I realized I was washing way to much and with the wrong stuff. So now I use a quality beard wash and a good co-wash as well. That helped my beard a lot by just doing the change in wash.
