- Telenovela clip from Modern Family "Baby on Board"
"Baby on Board" is the 24th episode of the third season of the American sitcom Modern Family, and the series' 72nd episode overall. It aired on May 23, 2012. The episode was written by Abraham Higginbotham and directed by Steven Levitan. All the videos, songs, images, and graphics used in the video belong to their respective owners and I or this channel does not claim any right over them.
I love how they got so many character archetypes found in telenovelas: The Protagonist girl, the Evil Ex, the Attractive Religious Leader, the Humble Handsome Ranchero Love Interest, and the Controlling Matriarch.
Plus some clichés like the guy coming back from the dead, a fainting woman, someone yelling 'No!' while entering through a previously closed door...
@@tarielkaroldan4106 don't forget about that stare into the horizon
And that they brought actor who speaks Spanish perfect is a plus
Also everyone is white, like a real telenovela.
@@Slm99 in real telenovelas not everyone is white, just the most important characters and their loved ones. Usually, minorities are represented as comic relief or in stories of white saviors helping them overcome some sort of struggle
"Ay wait a minute. Now I go from English to Spanish."
For anyone, who speaks two or more languages, this is very relatable.
Certain things I can only remember in a different language, someone needed my wife's number and I tried to say it and write it down in English.. failed. Think in her native tongue and write it down... No problem 🤣
I speak three languages and let's say it's a huge mess when I start talking😂
I speak three languages fluently but with English as my primary one, is it just me this happens to, but when I am speaking a different language, I think about what I am to say in English, translate it in my thoughts then speak out in the other language? My thoughts are always in English
As an interpreter this is so relatable

The sexy priest? Ok...
The sexy nurse? Wait...
The sexy cowboy? Enough...
THE ABUELA?!
I love how she is just “the grandmother” 😂
The sexy ABUELAAAA?????????
That's sexy abuela to you
and the kid, there's always someone's child involved int he middle, ready to be kidnapped, manipulated o losed by
Yes I am alive 🤣😊🤣
Gloria is such a good stepmother. Her bond with cam and Mitch is so precious
she's more like a friend to them

The nurse stole her grandmothers almonds 😂😂😂😂
I'm dead 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cant even remember the rest of the scene i was laughing so hard
What does that mean?
@@stoichr3324 Cam thought "amante" meant "almonds", but it's actually "lover"
@@matiasduarte6322 thank you hahaha. Finally gets it
I literally _GASPED_ when the ranch boy revealed that the mother was his lover-
Some good drama for you!! :))

*the nurse faints*
Mitch: WHAT’S HAPPENING!?!? 😂😂😂
So dramatic!!! ...😂
typical novela moments
*nurse faints in español*

That time when you understand both languages
Top TVGames Stuff it’s awesome right ???!!!
@@alanwongo Ye
Jajaja pues entiendo un poco de English, pero el español de Gloria es sudamericano así que lo entiendo todo.
I once saw a movie with people spaeaking german, english and french and it was the best
Top TVGames Stuff right? Hahaha
The scene next where Mitch and Cam are at a gas station is tear jerking. God I already miss this show so much.
Love the show hate Mitchell and cam, just propaganda to promote that they’re a ‘modern family’ still a funny show but keep your eyes open.
@@hassooonnn6504 Lol what are you taking about?
@@hassooonnn6504 Who is shoving what agenda down your throat?
@@hassooonnn6504 I'm definitely not an ardent LGBT supporter but why is the presence of a gay couple in a sitcom an "agenda"?
They come across just as endearing as any other heterosexual couple. And the show certainly does not overindulge in the homosexuality aspect of it. They are given just as much attention as the other characters in the show.
zzz 1 as if straight people are not shoved down our throats 24/7. let the lgbtq+ community have representation without shaming them
1:39 so funny that Gloria was talking to all of them like if she knows them 😂
Exactly hahaha
😂😂😂yes, she is involved
That's just being latin LOL
Gossip grants you temporary familiarity, it is known
@@scdaLiterally this. I'm Brazilian so I'm not even sure if it counts as Latino (I think it does) but where in from, Salvador, you can literally start talking (loudly) to a stranger in the bus and next you know you at their family's table.
"yes I'm alive" 😭 typical telenovela moment
As bilingual i didnt realize Diego was speaking in English, I have no idea when he changed
Edit: typo, autocorrector changed "have" to "hace".
YO SAAAME
Me too HAHAHAH
And what's even better: none of them are my first language XD
WAIT WHAAAAT HAHAHAHA I just realized thanks to your comment LOL Our bilingual minds are weird
Same here hahaha
It was beautifull, I was like what??? he spoke in english??? when?
Sofia Vergara is the ultimate and best translator... she could work in the Miss Universe
She can't, she'll win instead of the contestants.
2:40 is one of the reasons I love Modern Family. How quick they can switch from comedy to deep, heartfelt emotions and (often) not feel out of place.
This is like mexican drama

Omg that why it called a novlea
Telenovela
No shit Sherlock
r/woooosh
As much as this is a very funny scene. This was a devastating moment for Mich and Cam
Especially Cam, he looked devastated. :(
@@jmsg_PRAgreed. For all the times Cam went to tears 😢, this moment right here felt genuinely earned.
I felt so bad for them. That gardener ratted out their surrogate all because of some stupid promise he made to her mother. Not to mention Abuela just came in and took their chance at having another baby away.
The ending of this episode in the field was heartbreaking...
"The nurse stole her grandmother's almonds" My favorite part
Eric Stonestreet who plays Cam, is brilliant. He’s so funny but in a rare occasion, he makes you tear up. Heart breaking to see him rest his head on Mitchell at the end like that. You knew he was hurting
This reminds me of a telenovela that I watched with my aunts when I was a child (like 4-5yo)and they were teenagers, it was in the 90s in Algeria (north Africa) so it was all in Arabic except for the names and the opening credit.
It was called Guadalupe and it was so popular that whenever it was time for the show the whole family gathered around the old TV, even the guys who were like "pff these girly shows are so stupid" stayed the whole time and yelled at the TV at every cliffhangers.
Even the commercials between episodes were related to the show like Guadalupe soap to have flawless skin like Guadalupe.
One time we were at fricking wedding (and weddings in Arabic countries are huge events that last several days where you celebrate at the houses of both the bride and the groom) and at some point we were in the house of the bride, with all the family and guests then the episode of Guadalupe started and everyone stopped what they were doing because Guadalupe lost her memory after the accident and I think someone stole her baby, and Luisa was actually the one who killed Alfredo's father and at some point some woman commits suicide by drowning herself in the sea
You left me in the middle...what happened then?
Yeah I can confirm that as an Algerian, Telenovelas were a huge part of my childhood and family time too
Okay but what happened to the baby?
As a Latina I confirm that is just our everyday's life, turns out my dad has a secret evli twin that tried to kidnap me when I was a baby but then a nun shot him to save me.
Telenovela is a term only for Latin American shows not Arabic
As someone who has a Latin soap opera obsessed mother
I can tell you this is very true when it comes to those series
Plot twists every episode
I lost it when the nurse fainted 💀💀💀
I’m telling you if that nurse was on the office episode turf wars she be fainting at Dwight when his pants dropped
This always happens in a Telenovela xD
Ese momento when you hablas tanto spanish como ingles and you undestand todo a la perfeccion
Gosh my brain is confused now
That's right hombre
Kan 🤣 y tú add in Hebrew para further Confusiòn
Hahaha XD
For Latinos this is a everyday thing our lives are telenovelas
True lmao
Lmao right
Man this just happened to me last week in the hospital
This is why I stay away from la familia. I fucking hate drama.
Honestly true, it’s exhausting dealing with all the zombies
I'M SO HAPPY I'M BILINGUAL, I HAVEN'T STOPPED LAUGHING
Amen to that.
It's really heart-wrenching how it turns out for Cam & Mitch here but they're just a part in the bigger telenovela in which abuela may have a stroke next ep 😢
This is like THE saddest thing and THE funniest thing ever in one scene 😭😭😭😂😂😂
This was me watching telenovas with my mom when I was a kid not understanding what was going on and then her translating while watching lol 💀
Sometimes I wish Kdramas were like this.
Right? I need this level of drama in a kdrama setting.

Esto debe haber sido mil veces más gracioso para los que no hablan español, deben haber estado re confundidos 😂😂

This for me was an iconic moment

This was heartbreaking and at the same time hilarious. Well played Modern Family.

@@joaosilva3378 awww, que tierno...más bien pienso que el Portugués suena mejor...
And now the daughter may never know that the mother was the ranchero's lover because Michael interrupted Gloria's translation to ask about the baby.
Can crying because he’s not the biggest drama queen there
"Cam"! But, yeah! 😄
It's incredible how one of the funniest moment in the show is followed by one of the most heartbreaking moment in the show without making either feel inappropriate or out of place
Its crazy how I, while learning Italian, also learned a little bit of spanish. Once there where two classmates of mine talking in spanish infront of me having no idea that i could understand them. They were so shocked when i told them in italian about what were they talking about.
"Yes, I am alive." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
La abuela predicting the future wearing a mask
Had to pause it... Yes yes yes. Awesome Telenovela script!!!!!!!!
When the nurse fainted and Mitch caught her 😂
"Ay ayyy whats happening"
I think it was a dramatic faint was it
Imagine if she saw Dwight in his underwear in turf wars
Of course they to do the telenovela long stare right before the intermission cut.
0:24 I love this moment so much!
“Las pasiones de Cam”
I went from laughing to almost crying in a second
Laughing when Juanita came and they didn't understand 😂😂😂 their faces 😂😃
I've neve seen modern family but i think I just found the best scene of the show, lol, this is iconic.
But the ending is heartbreaking.
As a telenovela lover, Gloria is me and my mom watching TV
That slap looks so real 😮
Get use to Telenovelas there is a slap in every single episode xD
I really didn't appreciate how they played this for a laugh when it's fucking heartbreaking.
This is SO telanovela!

did yu get dat tu¿
Dios, amo a Gloria con mi vida entera AKSJDKJDJD
Finally, the Spanish classes I took came in handy!
Totally in love with modern family, miss them soooo much
How can a clip be so silly, yet leave me feeling so bad for Cam and Mitch.
I’m from Puerto Rico. And I know Spanish and English. So I can understand both languages in the episode.👍
Me too
I just want say I tried to learn Spanish it was difficult. So I gave up. So I am truly amazed with her fluent Spanish since she is from Columbia. But I am also so inspired with her effort in learning English.
Absolutely true. Also it's Colombia not Columbia.
"We got that"
"You brought me here"
Loveee Gloria's sass XD
Like Bruno always says
Their Love will never be
The only way that this sequence can be ten times better and more accurate than it already is, was if it was constantly interrupted by jovial or heartwarming scenes edited in between the serious drama 😂. Oh! I shouldn't forget about the addition of music shifting in tone by each scene change.
The grandmother predicted the 2020 with a mask
The hug at the very end was so sweet 🥺
Just finished my Spanish lesson and winding down with some comedy clips but now I feel like I'm back in class again! ¡Madre mia! No estaba preperada por esta lección adicional. 😂❤😂
It was silly seeing all this unfold but the one element they were missing was the dramatic music in between. Like they had of these silly yet quick revealing drama moments but the silence of the quiet night of the hospital felt strange without the music.
See, this hits real close to home for me because my Aunt and Uncle were in a somewhat similar situation several years back. My uncle is a pastor and he goes in mission trips to Ecuador. While there he and his wife fell in love with a little boy and girl and they were so close to adopting them. They were right in the final stages of the adoption process when my Uncle accidentally revealed that he had accidentally seen a name on a document someone had left out, and because the adoption was supposed to be closed no names whatsoever, the whole thing fell through
Ok but the priest and the ranch cowboy dude is so unnecessarily hot just like how telenovela usually be 😂
The priest are always inside hospitals al least in latin america you always see a priest in the hospital for the babies and for the people who are dying
As a person who understands both languages, I had no ideia when they changed from one to another 😂
Do you ever find yourself reading the English subtitles even though you understand perfectly what is being said? 😂
@@V.E.R.O. yes!! Idk, I guess I prefer reading rather than listening hahah
Las advantages de ser bilingual
La abuela's Spanish is kinda off 🤣
I think Mitchell is so underrated character .......

A stroke of genius.

When you can relate even when you are not spanish 😂 thanks to Marimar 😂😂😂
No wonder my mom and dad been watching novelas since I was a child it's pure drama drama!!!
Ok are tenovelas really like this? Cuz if so ~ I’m gonna hafta learn me some Spanish and start watching them!! 😝 American soaps are already crazy and dramatic ~ but these seem to put them to shame! Seriously if they ever really all pause and look off into the distance like that ~ I’m sold! Hehe ♥️
Telenovelas are much more dramatic than depicted here, you should definitely watch them 😂
Girl Netflix has a ton of them with subs. Try senora acero..
you have no idea... Specially Mexican telenovelas lol
They are! Haha some of them are insanely dramatic but fun
Try Rosalinda, Paulina
