Thank you for the thorough video presentation. Common App UPDATE: FAMU is now in the system. My daughter submitted application via Common App on 08/01/2022.
Update: I was invited to apply for a full scholarship with the College of Agriculture!! College decision day is in like 2 weeks though so I'm praying that decision comes out closer to now than then... lol.
Don’t be!! Take it one step at a time. If you have any questions or would like me to make a specific video let me know! You can dm me on Instagram @indiasynai if you’d like to ask specific questions as well
Hey! I applied to FAMU in August and got in around early November. Are you saying that since I do not have a 27 on my ACT in Math that I am not eligible for any scholarships whatsoever? I meet all the other requirements though.. Just wondering.
Hey! Not sure if the SAT/ACT requirements have change since I applied but the rules and regulations as I was applying was that in order to receive a scholarship you must meet all requirements. So if you didn’t meet all then unfortunately they will disqualify you from receiving a scholarship. I would still consult with the scholarship office as things could have changed since then but those were the rules when I applied .
If you aren’t able to take your 2 language credits in high school is there a way you can take them at FAMU or do you need to have them finished before you graduate
tysm this was so helpful💞question for scholarship deadline, on the website it says they need everything received by october 15th but u said november 7th. or are those two different things? i just wanna make sure!!
Hey, so glad this was helpful!! I believe the date for us to have applied/been accepted was around October 15th and the November 7th deadline was when we had to have all test scores submitted. I would however follow whatever the website says being that dates are acceptable to change each year. As for scholarships, there should be some sort of calendar/ document with specific dates on famu’s website (under scholarships/scholarship office) for you to follow. If it still has 2020 dates then maybe try calling the scholarship office fo clarify / get info on when they will post the calendar for the 2021-2022 academic year.
I have been accepted in to FAMU and I am wondering if it is possible that I can get any scholarships with a 1300 sat and 27 act with a 3.87 GPA. I am also majoring in Pharmacy
Hi! Not sure about ACT scores as I took the SAT. Typically requirements change every year so you’d definitely have to look at requirements but a 1300 SAT score is very good! You should be eligible for a merit award, but again, the requirements typically change each year so you’d definitely want to confirm with the scholarship office on what scores are needed
I'm worried about missing out on housing while waiting to see about merit from other places. If one is ok giving up $350, is there anything wrong with putting a deposit down to secure housing even if you end up not going because more money came in from somewhere else?
Hey! I was worried about the same thing when I was in your position. People put down deposits / secure housing and end up not going to that school all the time. You should however get most/ all of your FA packets before schools start opening up their housing portal
Hey so I would contact admissions! Often times your to do list is delayed in updating and may say you need to do something that you’ve already done. Just let them know your situation and that you just want to clarify that all of your documents have been received and there’s nothing that needs to be done on your end. Hope this helps and congrats !! 💚🧡
Ok so I’m a transfer and I’m trying to get all documents submitted but it’s a little confused and I’m trying to decide if I should live on or off campus
Living off campus is definitely cheaper. If you have a car I’d recommend living off campus and using our transfer student association/ your classes and other organizations as a means of becoming socially engaged on campus. Living on campus was convenient for me as a first year but I’m not doing it again lmaooo .
Hello my daughter applied three the common app? I just called admission they have all her information except her sat scores which they require 26 math 25 in reading and in language arts
Hi, yes. FAMU is now on common app thankfully! I believe they made that transition within the last year. Their requirements as far as scores usually vary year to year so definitely stay tuned to admissions for those requirements as they may not be the same as when I applied.
Hi! It honestly depends on what scholarship you’re receiving. Each have their own requirements some of which are based on an aleks score. It’s also possible that requirements have changed since I was an incoming freshman so definitely reach out to whatever department is over the scholarship in question for more info!
Hey! The essay should be within the application itself. I can’t really remember if the fee was the first or last portion of the application for us but I do remember that the essay I had to write was within it (the application). If you don’t see that part then I’d say maybe they aren’t requiring one this go round ? To be safe however I’d contact the admissions office because typically they always require an entrance essay.
@@indiasynai I’m applying as a transfer on the freshman level so ig i don’t need to write one because I checked it as a regular freshman and the essay was there but not for transfers at any level
Hey so letters of recommendations are up to you. You’ll have to reach out to potential recommenders to get them. As far as submitting, your counselor will do that but make sure u get a copy of them because you’ll need it for scholarship applications later on! I go in detail on that stuff ( what to say when reaching out to recommenders) in my what I wish I knew video and also I might have mentioned it in my how I got in video as well .
Do you recommend applying for outside scholarships the summer of senior year because I’m going to be an upcoming senior this year and I had to return to your video to ask youuu and is your list still good for scholarships?
I recommend starting as early as possible and continuing to apply to outside scholarships even after you’ve been accepted!! If you qualify for the opportunity, apply!
Hi so like I have a couple of questions, my first one is how do you get to irrattler inorder to see your status on your application? Also I submitted my application in October and they told me to retake my SAT i got a 1020 and its been hard to raise it. Is it possible for me to still get in if I have a 3.8 gpa, recommendations and the essay. I’m trying to get my SAT score up but what if they send a decision letter before I can get a chance to bring it up. When visting the school my tour guide said she didnt get in the first time but reapplied, do you know how that works?
Hey so as far as your irattler account you should receive an email with your login info about 1-2 ish weeks after applying. If you haven’t received it and it’s exceeded that time frame I’d email admissions. Being that your GPA is really good id say yes it is possible as far as your second question. If they asked you to retake it I’d still try but just be sure your recommendation letters and essays are top tier. I know many people who have had low test scores but gotten admitted based on their accolades, recommendation letters and essay. As far as reapplying I haven’t heard of anything like that within the same semester ( for example getting denied for fall 2022 and reapplying for fall 2022) I have however heard of students being able to reapply for the following semester ( ie: getting denied for fall 2022 and reapplying for spring 2023). I would see if you could contact your tour guide via social media and ask how they were able to do that because I’m not truly sure . I’d also email admissions to let them know you are retaking your SAT and see if they’d be able to hold off on your decision until it’s sent ( if that’s what you want ). Hope this helps !
Hi, India, this is Leah. I've been watching your videos for 2 years now and I wanted to thank you for making this content. However, I'm a senior and I'm about to submit my application (like now). I meet all of the requirements except for the test scores. On their website I see that they want 540 math and 520 reading and writing. However, I have 540 reading and writing and 510 math. I'm currently doing dual enrollment and I will be graduating with 24 credits. My personal statement and extracurriculars are decent. I wanted to know how important test scores are upon admission. Also, from what I told you I, Do you think I have a chance of getting in. Please let me know😔. Thank you!!!!!
Hi Leah! So glad my videos are helpful. I would advise you test again. I know the admission process is holistic but I am not sure whether the score requirements can be waived. Given your other extra curriculars, you definitely have a chance of getting in but again, I’m not sure if they would look at the rest of your application without the required test scores. Please don’t take this as a definite answer however!! Reach out to admissions ( things change all the time. They will likely advise you to continue testing but atleast you will have a definite answer on whether the math score could be overlooked). You’re doing great though! Continue expanding your extra curriculars, take as many dual courses as you can and don’t stress it !
Good luck im thinking about going to famu later on down the line im currently n a school program for my hsd im going to Montgomery college afterwards and then transfer to famu hopefully I'll get accepted
I applied at the beginning of my senior year in August. Biggest tip I can tell you is that the earlier you get them done the better (for scholarship and stress free purposes) !! So glad you’re enjoying the series ❤️
I’m actually not sure about this one. I’d contact (call and email) the office of admissions to see. I wouldn’t think they’d need your test scores being that you are a transfer but I don’t wanna give you the wrong info lol.
I seen this way too late. I’m from Ireland and I wanted to apply for a full ride scholarship but I didn’t get it in time. Is there anything else can I do ?
Hey so being that the merit scholarship deadline has passed the best thing you could do is start applying for outside opportunities and contact the specific program you are applying for ( ex: school of business and industry) to see if you’d qualify for a scholarship/ if they have any scholarships available. I give a list of scholarships/ scholarship tips and information in my scholarship video if you’d like to get more info!! I’ll put the link below for you 💚🧡
There should be but I’m not really sure if famu changes their prompts by year. Typically the prompt is very generic / aligns with whatever one chooses to write for common app though.
They should send an email to your famu email with that information. I took mine early for a scholarship and most within my class took it online before orientation but they also have an option to take it during orientation. I’d check your email and if you don’t see anything contact Mr. Ivey Williams because he’s over aleks testing
Hi! I’m not sure if the writing portion is required for famu but I would advise you to take it atleast once . I only did the writing version during my first attempt ( the remaining were without the writing). My highest score was an attempt I did without writing but you can still submit your writing scores from whichever test you did it . Most schools in general require/ prefer that you submit a sat / act score with a writing score so I’d say take it once !
Hi! Clubs and sports will go on your resume. I don’t believe famu has a place for you to submit a resume though. In that case I would make a strong personal statement that perhaps includes some of what you’ve done over the course of your high school career.
@@indiasynai more thing gorgeous, do you know if they look at your weighted GPAs? My unweighted is a 2.9 but my weighted is a 3.9. Also, my SAT super score is a 1100, I just applied but I’m so so nervous. In your opinion, you think I have a chance?
Hey so I believe they look at both the unweighted and weighted GPA. Typically they recalculate everyone’s GPA on their own scale but I’m not too sure on how that works. As far as the SAT score they do superscore so they’ll judge you based off that ( your 1100) and not the others. FAMUs main focus when admitting is really your personal statement and recommendation letters so I wouldn’t focus entirely on your stats. You definitely have a chance love, speaking your acceptance into existence !!
Hey I honestly can’t remember if 500 was the minimum or maximum. I do remember however recycling my general college application essay as the word requirements were close. I’d email / call admissions to get a definite answer. It may also be on a frequently asked questions page if you’d like to check therr

Okay 4.0!!!! My advice would be to focus on outside scholarship opportunities if you aren’t able to test again before the scholarship deadline. I give a list of scholarships/ scholarship resources in my scholarship video, definitely recommend you watch but please don’t be discouraged by your ACT score!! There’s so much money out there and outside of FAMU. I’m also out of state and was able to raise a lot of scholarship money through small local opportunities .
I applied for the scholarship program but did not realize the school wasn’t test optional and I don’t take my sat till november . Can I send the scores after? can i still be accepted into the school if I didn’t send the sat score yet ?
Hey so anything having to do with changing your major will be dealt with your academic advisor. Basically you’d tell them you want to change your major and they can help direct you with everything. If you’re trying to change it before you get here ( meaning you haven’t yet been assigned an advisor ) then contact the admissions office .
Hey! I’m not sure what you mean by that but if you mean getting two scholarships within FAMU ( so say one from the scholarship office and one from the school of business ) then yes. That happened to me and they combined both scholarships into one letter. Let me know if that answered your question !
Hey thank you for such and informative and helpful video! (I also really love your intro💗) I’m applying for the 2022 Spring semester as an international student. Are the scholarship process and requirements different for international students? If you know about the scholarship process for international students I’d greatly appreciate a video but if you don’t then that’s okay😞
Hiii! So glad you’re loving the series 🧡💚 As for the scholarship processes for international students I’m not sure on whether they are the same. I would email both the scholarship office and admissions office about that. If they are different then I’d be happy to make a video !
Unfortunately not. Freshman aren’t allowed to have cars but if you’ve done DE / AP / IB and racked up enough hours to be classified as a sophomore then they’ll allow you to bring it.
Do they happen? Yes. Are they bad? Depends on the year honestly 😭 2021-2022 was pretty calm for the fall/spring semester. There was an alert during our move in (beginning of august) but most hurricane related weather was just heavy rain / never caused us to evacuate. I believe there have been situations in the past / during some summer semesters but I’m not too sure .
Hey so the LLC application is located at the end of the housing application. In order to apply you have to secure another housing option / complete the housing application for another residence ( as a backup option). Basically you fill out the application after you submit the general housing application, you may have to write an essay or two and then depending on which LLC it is you may have to do an interview as well. Once the deadline passes they’ll send a letter letting you know if you got in and then from there if you did they’ll update your housing to the LLC housing. I’m in the Business LLC and I like it. A lot of people that I’m most close to are in my LLC. In terms of creating friendships, bonding with people on campus and having accountability partners/ being close to people who are in all of your classes it’s great! We also have events that we have to go to ( typically they are “fun” ) and I know for other LLCs they have weekly meetings / weekly study halls ( Mine doesn’t thankfully). Overall it’s been a great experience for me so far and I’d definitely do it again if given the option to but I know each LLC is different and depending on which one you are trying to get in your experience will vary ( ie: there are some LLCs with a liaison that does way too much/ where a lot is expected of you) but as for SBI we don’t do much outside of attending monthly events

@@indiasynaiThank you so much for everything, you’ve been such a big help ❤️
Does the essay have to be exactly 500 words or a maximum of 500 words?
Hey I honestly can’t remember if 500 was the minimum or maximum. I do remember however recycling my general college application essay as the word requirements were close. I’d email / call admissions to get a definite answer. It may also be on a frequently asked questions page if you’d like to check therr
Did you have to complete the SRAR?
I’ve never heard of the SRAR 😭
How long did it take for you to get your acceptance letter ?
Hey so FAMU has a pretty fast acceptance process. I was accepted within about 2 weeks ( I’d say after a week and some change to be exact)
@@indiasynai ok Thank you , do they email it or mail it ?. In my irattler account it says I’ve been admitted I’m just waiting to get my letter to actually get excited 🙂.
@@Ashleemccrary YASSSS CONGRATS ❤️(FAMU26!?!) . It’ll take another week or so for you to get an email acceptance notice. It’ll likely just be an email saying you got accepted ( ie: there won’t be a pdf of your acceptance letter attached in it). Famu took forever to mail me my acceptance letter so I honestly have no clue as to when you’ll receive that lol. Congrats though !
@@indiasynai Thank you so much !
what were your stats?
Thank you!
every school but them test optional
It’s a State of Florida thing.
@@indiasynai I have a 4.0 with a college course, honors classes and an IB class but I got a 20 ACT lmao 😭 so idk. I’m out of state so it’s already super expensive and I need money but that ACT score doesn’t give 😭
@@indiasynai and scholarship consideration is due the 15th. I don’t retake my test until the 23rd
Can I send the scores after? can i still be accepted into the school if I didn’t send the sat score yet ?
do you know how to change your major
Hey so anything having to do with changing your major will be dealt with your academic advisor. Basically you’d tell them you want to change your major and they can help direct you with everything. If you’re trying to change it before you get here ( meaning you haven’t yet been assigned an advisor ) then contact the admissions office .
Are you able to stack scholarships?
Hey! I’m not sure what you mean by that but if you mean getting two scholarships within FAMU ( so say one from the scholarship office and one from the school of business ) then yes. That happened to me and they combined both scholarships into one letter. Let me know if that answered your question !
Do you need to submit ap scores? I did bad on the exams😂
Hey so AP scores are completely up to you ( FAMU accepts 3+) 😂 The only scores you are required to send are SAT/ACT and then your HS transcript.
Hey thank you for such and informative and helpful video! (I also really love your intro💗)
I’m applying for the 2022 Spring semester as an international student.
@@indiasynai thank you so much😊
Hello, can you give me your ig details, I'm also applying spring 2023 as an international student and I'm stressed😭
Can out of state freshman bring cars?
Unfortunately not. Freshman aren’t allowed to have cars but if you’ve done DE / AP / IB and racked up enough hours to be classified as a sophomore then they’ll allow you to bring it.
are the hurricanes bad in that area?
Do they happen? Yes. Are they bad? Depends on the year honestly 😭 2021-2022 was pretty calm for the fall/spring semester. There was an alert during our move in (beginning of august) but most hurricane related weather was just heavy rain / never caused us to evacuate. I believe there have been situations in the past / during some summer semesters but I’m not too sure .
Can you explain the llc process and how you liked the program?
I hate Florida but I do love HBCU'S especially Florida A&M University.🧡💚🐍
Why
@@thickchivk5691 Because it's in the south I hate southern states except Oklahoma is alright for a southern states.
