- I loved these two so much! I thought the acting from both of them was terrific, like my heart was properly breaking for Marya in that last scene. Overall, I thought the adaptation was amazing, and I feel kinda lost now that there's no more!
And I encourage anyone who didn't watch the miniseries to do so! You definitely won't regret it.

That line “if you knew how long I have been waiting for you.”
She’s so beautiful in dour and austere garb. Her noble character shines brighter than frills and curls.
She was the most perfect Marya so far and I have to say I'm not a fan of this version but she's been the only one I could tell that was able to give some deep to this character, I loved Jessie.
I don't say the other actresses were wrong or anything like that, they mostly appear sad, withdrawn, abused and about to burst into tears, this is the first version we get to see some of the character's depths. That's new and the main reason why I like her.
Did you love Paul Dano as Pierre? I think he is the best Pierre ever caught on film.
Mmh, my problem with PD is that he always play the damaged one. He looks the part but, can he do more? This is the first verion where they took the time to develop both Pierre and Masha for they usually go really fast on them and barely give them any screen time for they are focus on Andrei and Natasha, therefore, I'm not sure, I didn't fall for his perfomance.
darcyissues I thought he was charming and human as Pierre. He played against that unsung nice guy type in 12 Years a Slave.
What other versions are there that you feel are better? Please do share.
I pity Sonya but maria was the one he knew the first time he saw her you could see it in his face....x x x x x

Sonya was raised as a sister to him,. Broody, selfish, clingy, ..plus she had other offers for marriage!!! . Hummmm And she could live with Pierre and Natasha.
Living with Nikolai and Marya is Sonya 's way of getting back at Nikolai and Marya. Her character is creepy!

yeah Nikolai told that he would never ever sacriface love to money, but in the end he falen in love with her, and that was nice :)

@@user-ps2ol2lt5m exactly, he chose to allow himself to fell in love because of her money and social pressure, either way, sonya deserved someone better than nikolai, in their honeymoon nikolai maybe would have cheated sonya with another blonde girl
But he doesn't use her money or even capital ☺️
He paid his parents debts and made his own Fortune in the process 💞☺️

У неё был шанс выйти замуж за бескорыстного Долохова, который был в нее искренне влюблен согласно описанию Толстого, но, Толстой не Голливуд, написал ей иную судьбу уход за престарелыми...

I really feel heartbroken for Sonya, my only consolation is that in this video Nikolai is not as very handsome I imagined him to be in the book (sorry I have very high standards given that this is widely considered the best novel in the world).
Марья очень хороша. Николая выбрали неудачно. Совсем не соответствует роману. Увы, BBC сделал ставку на зрелищность, а не на понимание сути характеров. Эта дорогая подделка понравилась англичанам? Ну, людям, которые ничего не знают о России, сгодится. Тем, кто не видел океана, лужа кажется безбрежной.
+Malikamina Мне кажется, просто авторы сделали фильм немного с английским взглядом на мир. Это неизбежно, согласитесь! Мы в России должны понимать, что одна культура в другую переводится не прямо, а с неизбежными типологическими заменами эмоционально-смысловых комплексов, если можно так выразиться... Здесь не слово переводится словом, а поэма переводится поэмой... Надо ценить, что англичане встроили великий русский роман в свои привычные культурные рамки, настолько, насколько они смогли его туда втиснуть. Они перевели много истинно русского в английское, не потеряв суть. Просто перевести один язык в другой было бы недостаточно. Этот фильм сближает наши культуры. Но целиком русским он быть не может.
Damy Pavloff замены заменами, но превращать русских аристократов в увальней без манер, с ужасной пластикой и в неряшливой одежде определенно не стоило. Князь Андрей вообще не производит впечатление человека, который мог работать со Сперанским. Этот Пьер разве смог бы привязать квартального к медведю? Их Элен и Анатоль лишь в кошмарном сне могут присниться. Где трогательная Наташа, которая всех очаровывала? Лили понятия не имеет о невинности.

+Daria Meleshkina для тех, кто не читал роман и действительно мастерской актерской игры не видел, очень хороший фильм.
Сценарий этого фильма написал очень популярный в Англии Эндрю Дэвис. Он сказал, что оно хотел показать молодых людей в начале их жизненного пути, стоящими на распутьи и принимающими решения касательно всей их будущей жизни. Если смотреть на фильм с этой точки зрения, то он на мой взгляд очень удался.
Что касается выбора актеров, то они по возрасту намного ближе к книге, чем наши актеры в старом фильме Бондрарчука. Там Тихонову и Бондарчуку было лет по сорок, хотя Андрей и Пьер в начале романа молодые парки лет по двадцать пять.
