A little fun fact that I learned the hard way: If you don't save after this fight and die, Remilia will actually scold you for not saving after her fight, before proceeding to fight you again
When i replayed this fight at times, i came to love even more the game as the clock hands in the background do actually represent your PC time, the attention to detail is so astonishingly great that i cant stop from loving the game more and more plus that amazing Remilia starting the fight
Heck, each and every one of the girls, not just Sakuya, deserve their own Metroidvania. Would love to see Remilia as the MC of her own game. That would be fun.
@@SheetsInc Beethoven Virus came a few years after this. EoSD is from 2006 or so and Beethoven Virus came in 2008. But doesn’t stand the fact that both songs are based on Pathetique Sonata 3rd Movement which is what the original song is called from Beethoven

Me when i finally manage to get remilia below 40% hp: Alright I am doing so good i think I can beat this. (Proceeds to not be able to dodge any láser attack), for real it took me like 15 times to figure out how to dodge the 2 láser types
This music was what kept me going when up against this fight, and it's almost like an elaegant "dance" through the attacks. If you want a tip from me? Don't get scared when the machine-gun lasers start coming down on you from both sides if you're standing under the boss. Stop time, and dodge through the bullets without letting them touch the center of your hitbox. Then, unfreeze time and score up the graze points for HP as you skitter away from the rain of lasers at your heels!
Not really, stop time, place some knives in any direction, then very quickly resume and then stop time again, you will be able to walk through the gap the knives made easily and then graze for time and mana
This boss made me learn that Thousand knives are the ultimate weapon, and since then i abuse time usage and knives, is like if i finally understood how to control time in game, what a game omg

i actually fought this boss twice but won the first try, just forgot to save. try learning her attack patterns but what i reccomend for this boss is grazing off her pink bullet rain which gives you like 250 blue graze points which recovers practically a third of your health at level 20. also use dagger shield and get really close to her to do big damage when she goes down and summons bats, make sure to timestop first or she'll move out of the way and the bats will snipe you
@@kon4153 Something that could work is a mechanic that lets her ghost act independently or to input a path for it that it will then walk on it's own. A parry like in Metroid Dread would be fitting and cool as well, since she's a swordfighter.
There’s something so tragic about this tune, it’s as if you’re fighting a battle with someone who is the last person you would have ever expected to have to fight. A confrontation you dread with all of your soul but have no choice to participate in. Nothing defines rage and resentment like a truly broken heart
What's not surprising about this is the fact that Sakuya knows Remilia is fighting purely as a recreational activity. Canonically, I wouldn't be surprised if Remilia fights both Meiling and Sakuya at the same time for entertainment.
Even after finished EoSD and this masterpiece too, i still feeling this game was kind of... lacked difficulty, they could've added more details or something else, but anyways keeps being so good, too bad there hasn't been news about another big, literally a Touhou project, it'd be more interesting another one but with Meiling
There are three ways I know of. One is to make use of the invincibility frames granted by the Thousand Daggers special attack. This requires reaction time to the pattern the lasers take and the duration of the attack. Another method is to jump to the edge of the screen and spam downward attack to keep your lift. This is probably the most difficult method. My preferred strategy is to move to the outskirts of the arena, wait for the far-most laser to get close, freeze time, and double jump a couple times. I then unfreeze time while holding the jump button to prolong my descent. If I've timed it right, the lasers will be finished before I reach the ground.
@@kenhisuag with those methods there one can too mix it up with 1k daggers, as it would require to time the attack while descending to also get damage in, it all comes to craftiness and usage of the skills, or if one sees the laser coming snail time it or stop time and get down of remilia

When i beat this boss my hp is low as hell and the entrance for the next stage is in front of me. I saw a spike on top of the entrance way. I can't stop myself i jumped on it and i died. I have to fight her again.

You can use the Thousand Daggers special to get immunity frames for the laser.
Or ya know the entire fight cause you still graze everything and just infinite loop the bosses to death.

Oh, I just found that they were knifable, so I just wait and stab then run, it works out 95% of the time

or, you can use the Shield Dagger & just kinda stand there doing nothing as the shield breaks the bullets & you get graze off it

I can’t recall how many times her Phase 2 lasers screwed me over before I learned how to dodge them properly, but it sure as hell was a lot of times
I just stop time and go outside of them and I then proceed to use thousand daggers when a laser gets close so I get invincible and damage remilia.
With the theme like this, I thought this was the final boss. But ofc not, I still had a whole other even more difficult level to go.....
