Kavya Sharma maybe not a 200-250 but he is well established and can afford to take risks and not make it all about making a profit and put more effort and energy into a good storyline and strong characters without any overacting and over the top masala sequences. but he doesn’t. he recycles the same story over and over again with new batches of star kids. only difference now is people are starting to wake up and watch different more interesting movies instead of the usual mainstream crap.

@@lianora3185 With that kind of power any normal person tend to look out for family and friends. To stop such behaviour we have checks and balances. For example in Offices you are not handed matters with conflict of interest etc.
The check and balance system for the industry is audience reception. They are not supposed to watch untalented and good for nothing actors so producers are not supposed to give roles to them. Clearly that system is broken and we have the power to change that.

If RajKumar or Ayushmann are increasing their prices, I would never be against it. We also get appraisals every year for good work and they should get the same too. And they are sensible enough Karan, because thank goodness they haven't signed any movies under your banner. They have only chosen content, and if the content is working, their fees should go higher as well.

If you, the public will go on watching movies starring your "nepotism actors" and making their movies cross 200cr every time, then obviously, they and not some other actor would get selected for another movie. (Idiots). So technically, instead of clamouring for a person to be removed from the industry, don't be the reason for someone's removal yourself. (October and Badlapur didn't cross the 100cr mark, but Judwa 2 surely did).

Cinema should be a notch above business and money I feel. Till the time we don't give due credit to a film like Masaan, delusional attitude and all the bad factors will always exist. But kudos to these directors who have given a few gems but there is a long way to achieve the same level of brilliance which we have witnessed in the world of Cinema.
Yes, Art is always above money but after a time it doesn't pay the bills as the saying goes, either you can be rich or an artist. What about actors like Kareena Kapoor why are they allowed to charge exuberant when not all their films do well. Sonam is there , and Saif , abhishek bachhann.
What I've noticed is that even if star kids when they debut are unknown actors just like actors with no industry connections, these industry insiders still choose to act like launching a star kid in a movie is a lesser risk than launching a new actor with no industry connection.
The reason is that when a star kid is launched, actual hype is created for them by the media as several media outlets post articles saying such and such a person is a star kid and is related to this star, hence a star kid is given promotion straight away just because of their name being attached to a famous relative, yet a new comer with no industry connection or famous relative would not get that free promotion at all. This means that media hype up star kids, and draw audience's attention to these newbie actors jsut because they have a famous name connected to them.
How many times is a star kid launched in a big movie with a bunch of news articles saying stuff like, for example "sridevi's daughter to be launched by ....", "Boney kapoor's son to debut in...", basically a bunch of articles name dropping a star kids famous relative in titles of their article, providing star kids free promotion and tons of hype just on the basis of them having a famous relative connected to them.
New comers from outside the industry and no famous relative for media to put their names in articles do not get hyped up by media. Star kids and their famous relative get more media coverage attention, and media coverage gains audience's attention more towards a star kids' movies. It's super unfair, but it is quite clear that media are to blame for nepotism by giving only debut actors who have a famous name connected to them free press coverage and media attention and ramming star kids names down our throat by ignoring the debuts of actors who have no famous relatives name to hype them up.
If you see Karan Johar's track record he never worked with actors like Ayushman or Raj Komar Rao because the don't have big sir names or a God father. He only works with insiders Sidharth Malhotra was exceptional that also his personal equation with him. Because of his nonsense SRK become delusional. I wont mind Varun. I find him extremely passionate and he knows he's doing most importantly. He accepts that he is not a very good actor but he's pushing himself and I think all his recent movies were worth watching.

The thing is I'm going pay to watch only content driven movies for eg like tumbbad irrespective of who is the actor or actress. If the movie is good I'm all for it. I'm not going to waste my hard earned money for a bad movie.In this time and era audiences have become very educated and logical. Nobody wants to waste their time watching nonsense movies.

I feel like there needs to be better quality films, I’m sick of remakes, sequels and all that mess. Especially movies that the central theme is love SERIOUSLY. India needs more drama, crime, thrillers, better comedies& stories overall and better intense characters. I feel like forever the themes have been these stupid love stories and just 0 content and quality films. I’m glad that they are taking steps towards making quality films without overrated stars, which is necessary.
As for nepotism, I mean it even exists in Hollywood as well but not to the scale it exists here. No offense it’s the same faces starring with people they already work with for example people are not going to be excited when Alia stars in another movie with varun because it’s been seen before many times. The circle of Bollywood is so damn small it’s the same faces playing the same characters. Like I’m sick of Katrina kaif playing an item girl and an nri in her movies. Nepotism is so awful soon people will be able to work with people less and less because THEY ARE ALL RELATED. So just as Hollywood now have been diversifying themselves and allowing more newcomers to take lead roles that do win awards and acclaim. Bollywood needs to be the same way. Stop promoting star kids, they have to earn their stripes. Some have but some need a lot a lot of work. So Bollywood please CATCH UP WITH THE REST OR THE WORLD.

People have problem with actors having an entourage and being delusional and what not. But what they do requires so much of soul. Like becoming a whole other person, like putting a lot of yourself into a character. And doing this every single time for every character they play. They must feel so vulnerable when they are themselves. I think they deserve a break man. If they wanna protect themselves with an entourage and delusions, they should. I'm talking about actual real actors here not nepokids or wannabe stars.

There is not ONE person in India who knows how to interview. Anupama is no exception. They don’t listen. They don’t allow the person to answer. They start a question and begin offering an answer themselves. Or they keep agreeing with the response and having their voice and comments mask the answers of the interviewee. A good interviewer asks a brief question and then keeps their mouth shut and listens to the complete response. Btw, Barkha Dutt is just as bad. So is Kareena Kapoor. The worst might be Arnab. They all need to go to the US or UK to study the art of interviewing. At a minimum, watch videos of good interviewers in those countries.

Kjo always explains business of cinema very nicely and with the example he gave about a new rising star. Every actor and actress should listen to this interview. His production house is one of the finest company in India which produces movies very wisely. His company is not stuck to a particular gender which his contemporaries are doing.
Actually fact is people always get confused between content oriented film and actor's performance..
For example: Ayushman khurrana's most film are based on Delhi background..their stories were good but performance wasn't so significant but still people say Ayushman is a great actor...
