Let's be honest ..Today she's here because of her resemblance to Rihanna. The social media blew up because of the resemblance. She got it easy which many dark skinned models in India struggle to get. She needs to realise that she is privileged. But in spite of consistently giving bad performances she doesn't seem serious. She is the most experienced amongst the lot..but the younger ones seem more passionate than her. Ofcourse the judges would be disappointed. They are the mentors here. It's not very respectful to badmouth them.

Kaali is also what Asian people like to call black people. I've been on thhe receiving end many times. They have no idea that I know what that slur is so they're surprised when I've challenged them.
Kali is also a goddess in our culture. One of the powerful manifestations of power. In West Bengal people worship her and these same people call their dark skinned daughters kali as slur. I get so confused and disgusted. I wish we would let go of the Colonial mentality.

You might not have noticed most actress esp. before 2000's were dusky to somewhat dark in complexion but got fairer overtime but none of them ever clearly mentioned that they went for melanin treatment but there are media reports that suspects it to be the case. E.g. Kajol, Shilpa, Bipasa, deepika etc.
Also there are actresses that have worked throughout their carriers without any change in complexion like Smita patil, Nandita das etc.
Yes there is a preference for white beauties but dusky is what Indians are used to & dark complexions are rare in northern part of India but is very common in South India. Point is Indians have embraced dark skin beauties before {esp. if you look into regional cinema} & it's not something that is happening now but preference for lighter dusky to white tone persists.

From representation as lead actresses to usage of song lyrics that involve mentioning the light skin of the actress, Bollywood's just so sick. Infact, Tollywood is the same. The demand for light skin is such that they get actual Caucasian women like Amy Jackson playing an Indian. There is literally little to no representation.
To me focusing on skin color is sick, discrimination is sick. I don't like to play colorism game rather my focus is always about equal rights not equal representation because representation does not automatically mean equal representation of ideas as well & i care for representation of ideas more than i care for representation of identities, races or ethnicity as tokens.
