- You may know the hashtags and the groundbreaking movements - #BlackLivesMatter, #OscarsSoWhite, #SayHerName - but now you'll get an inside look at where they were born: Black Twitter. Black Twitter is the barbershop or beauty salon of social media that has made waves across America and the world. CBS Reports interviews celebrities, influencers and thought leaders to chronicle the history of Black Twitter, how it has spread to other platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok, and explore the social sphere where Black people started a community and ended up creating a pop culture juggernaut and driver of social justice.

Nice. More separation. We should have a black everything, like water fountains in the 60’s smh.
If you're feeling discouraged or down, know that this too shall pass. Life is full of ups and downs, but no matter how hard things may seem you can always find a way to move forward. I want to remind you that you are more capable than you think. You have the strength and courage to get through anything. Believe in yourself and take small steps each day towards your goals. Celebrate even the small victories and use them to motivate and inspire yourself. Don't forget that you are loved, supported and capable of greatness. No matter how tough the challenge, you can always find a way to overcome it. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it. Most importantly, take some time to rest and recharge. Being kind to yourself is the best way to motivate and empower yourself. You have the power to create a life that you love and to manifest your dreams. Believe in yourself and never give up. You are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to. ❤❤️

We have always BEEN THE NEWS
I’ve never heard of Black Twitter… Asked one of my black friends, they’ve never heard of it, he checked it out, said there’s nothing but crazy drama queens on their that are too concerned with things that aren’t happening…. He said it felt like they were trying to draw him in to be mad at someone…. No thanks…
What about WHITE twitter. This is so racist
I think WHITE twitter is called X now….😂
Good!Episode 2:White Twitter-exposing Antiwhiteism.
13:15 Tarana Burke, Jemele HIll, Mute R Kelly
15:20 Obama's campaign 2008
Very informative.👏 👍 I'm not on Twitter, ( I never understood how to use it, ) but I have been affected by Black Twitter trending stories on other social media so that I could follow the story elsewhere, like here on UA-cam.
The way I feel about it it should be taken down and plus we are all the country
Correct person - I was in the room Summer 2014 when a biracial 11th grade young man came up with "Get Woke". He was in a summer English class in Fort Worth, Texas. And I said, "Let's see if it goes around the world." I wish I could remember his name.
William Melvin Kelley, Barry Beckham, and Erykah Badu used the term "woke" before 2014.
@@Miss-Ann-Thrope I don't know them. Maybe that's where he got it. It's a very simple concept, everyday word. Enlightenment has been around since Buddha 2,500 years ago. There;s nothing new under the sun. I'm just so amazed how people keep acting like they don't know what it is. Pathetic.
@@anneporter123 It is an everyday word, but the context matters. It is typically used in the context of rising from sleep, not enlightenment, spiritual consciousness, or awareness.
I don't think they know. I saw a video of a yt woman embarrassing herself by using the term in an interview with a black woman. The sister asked for her definition of woke so they could be on the same page, and the yt woman could not answer. She was flustered and claimed she had recently written a paper on " woke-ism." She said, "I know I am going to go viral." It was hilarious.
@@Miss-Ann-Thrope I saw that! Cringey funny. You know us old folks used to say wake up and smell the coffee. I think MAGA might even get that.
Man Black People Been Using The Term "Woke" Since The Early 2000s🤣
"Your People"? You're all multi millionaires!
I love this❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Thank goodness for Black Twitter!!!! Loud! Proud! Black! Powerful! Difficult! Beautiful!
Smh. And a joke.
Nothing but DRAMA and toxicity.
Black twitter is not real yall trying to sound special doing something everyone does
👍🏽👍🏽
Black twitter? 😂 so just twitter then...
🥰 Black Twitter 🙏🏾💕
It's so interesting to watch everything be divided by race. It's like diversity doesn't even matter anymore, everyone wants to be separated into different categories.
Clearly you don't understand. It has nothing to do with division and everything to do with being able to let loose, be loud and laugh until your side hurts without being judged by people that have no sense of humor...like yourself
Black Twitter made us relative in all walks of life. #BLM
