@@gimok2k5 as someone who's been a longtime player since 2008 by discovering zombie that they're beating the campaign of World at War and have been well well-versed in the zombies Community as well as being friends with some very big zombies UA-camrs, I can tell you that okay maybe it's by release but world at war maps still had cinematic trailers which aren't shown here. But no I was right in what my comment said is that this is not in chronological order so it's not going to make any absolute goddamn sense. Not sure why you tried to argue that just because it's in release order doesn't mean it's in story order

    • @gimok2k5

@@nathanboyle7573 Because the release order IS the story order. That's chronological in terms of events that happen as players experience it.
That happens when the plot very early on (as early as the 5th map) involves time travel.
And no, the only WaW map that had any sort of intro or outro cinematic (NOT A TRAILER) is Nacht. Which is shown.

Call of the Dead in particular is really cool, because Treyarch (the guys that did Black Ops 1) actually had George Romero help them with designing the map back in 2011. He appeared as an incredibly powerful boss enemy that would follow you around the map, going berserk if he was shot and hunting you down with a massive stage light until he either murdered you or you led him to water where he'd calm down.
The map was re-made/re-imagined as the final Zombies map for Black Ops 4 in 2019, and while George didn't return as an enemy, his glasses were left on a table and you could interact with them. Doing so would have whatever character you were playing as say a line in remembrance of George or a line morning his passing, which I always thought was really nice.

Yeah I absolutely love this story. The Zombies Call of Duty Storyline is well over a Decade Old. So What happens in the cutscenes is honestly like 3% of what the story is. You honestly with an over hour reaction you just got important events without actually explanations of each event, why they were doing it. Who people are, etc. Like I'm being honest here, you're missing out on 97% of this storyline.

The COD Zombies storyline is extremely hard to explain but I absolutely love it and grew up with it and it basically did the multiverse before the MCU fully delved into it. This most understandable way I can explain these cutscenes is that a group of 4 survivors team up to survive a zombie outbreak and the player is led to believe that its just a game made up by these 2 children, Sam and Eddie. It fast fowards to a mysterious version of Richtofen coming through a portal and stealing a powerful artifact called the summoning key; he's recognizable but he's different and his intention is unknown. He was commanded by Dr. Monty (essentially Ms. Minutes from Loki) to go through time and to fix the multiverse, by destroying an alien race called the Apothicons and eliminating the other versions of themselves. This plan was all set out in a book that Monty gave him that tells him exactly what needs to happen.
However, on their journey the doubts of the Primis Crew grows and they begin to lose trust in Richtofen and the book and he begins to doubt Monty as well, because one powerful being trying to use people as pawns to destroy another powerful being doesn't sit right with him, but he follows through with the plan anyways. They miraculously succeed by using the summoning key and creating a black hole that gets rid of everything they were fighting against, then Dr. Monty reveals that he was just using them and that they were no longer needed. This was thought to be the end by a lot of players... if it wasn't for Richtofen making a backup plan to create a branch that they could go back to if Monty ever double crossed them, after they collected Takeo's soul (you can see a teleporting animation after Takeo's death).
Monty decided to drop them off in The Great War, but through the paradox caused by the blood viles, they could go back before Nikolai's death and find a different ending to the story. Richtofen knew what must be done because of the book, but now the pages have changed and he realizes the solution to fix the multiverse is not by beating the Apothicons, but by eliminating all branches in the multiverse in which these powerful being exist, including anything related to Dr. Monty and the Apothicons, and leaving them in one realm where they can be banished. There is one final caveat to this, in order to eliminate all connections to the multiverse Richtofen has to terminate one last connection... Himself.
This was a moment that made me cry since it is a franchise I have played for a decade and there was no coming back from this moment ("He was the nicest one, and they wont even remember"). Templar Richtofen takes the rest of the Primis Crew to get some backup, and who else is better than themselves, so they go back and recruit the Ultimis Crew. In their universe Samantha has powers (almost like a Scarlet Witch) and even controls the zombies, like she did in her game, but she later turns good and loses connection to the zombies. With Nikolai as the new leader of the crew and Samantha on their side, they collect the final piece they need to fight the war and phone one last crew for help.
The Victis Crew, previously seen in the beginning, was put on ice for this exact moment, where they could do the dirty work of combining all of the artifacts to end everything once and for all. Nikolai now had the book and knew what was next, so he held a celebration with everybody so they could have a good final send off. They drank until they all passed out and they died in their sleep; Nikolai had poisoned them so they would die happily. Oh yeah, Ultimis Richotfen is part zombie after he switched bodies with Sam on the Moon, so he had to be killed twice. Anyways, the deed was done, most characters were dead and the final pieces were put into place by Victis. There was no war, yet they fought it over and over again somewhere. With the summoning key destroyed, all the universes collapsed and were sent into the Dark Aether. Nothing was left, except for 2 young survivors, Sam and Eddie, and they walked into one final universe where there would be no more zombies, no more Apothicons, no more trouble.
That is until.... Eddie grows up, and becomes the one and only Edward Richtofen. The story continues from there in Cold War and lets just say the competition between Sam and Eddie is much more than child's play now. Sam still has her powers and Eddie still has his tricks.

    • @dangernoodle3343

So the Victis still confuses me, what role did they play from the start?

    • @jovanyc3397
      @jovanyc3397 Рік тому

@@dangernoodle3343 They really were meant just for the story of BO2 and then were tied into everything at the end, like most of the obscure things in the zombies storyline. Richtofen used Victis to help him get control of the zombies, which was one ending to BO2, and then there was the Maxis ending. Maxis's ending seems more cannon but they are both considered non-cannon because it is in a different universe. I think it was basically to show that Richtofen couldn't entirely be trusted and may have had a different reason for the secrecy and mad doctor personality. Also the events the Victis crew set in place opened a rift allowing Origins to happen and Samantha to be able to reach out to Primis

I loved seeing your guy's reaction to this but I can see that this story looks confusing just from a glance (aka watching the cutscenes) and while yes the story can be confusing it's not as bad as you may think. There are plenty of videos explaining what happens in the story, there's even one that is six hours long but goes into just enough detail about its universe and its characters. That six hour long video is the one I would recommend (but you should do it in parts), but there are ones that are not as long and they give you a decent look at the story. Again as someone from this community looking out it is cool to see people's reactions to these and I love watching your guy's reactions. Also the cod zombies story you reacted to is called the aether story, it has a sequel called the dark aether story which is also a good story.

The reason Nikolai took the main character role so late into the story is due to the fact that they'd gone through the timeline 3 different times. The final time, Nikolai was the only one that kept his soul. Richtofen from the 2nd cycle stopped this, hence giving him the book and telling him his soul would be needed. It was too late for Dempsey and Takeo as they had already taken their other selves in this cycle but with it broken. Nikolai was the only one capable of carrying out the remaining steps to finishing the job.

They go through the timeline a lot more than 3 times... All of the zombies chronicles maps are canon. All of the deaths the characters indure are canon. There's no telling how many times they went through at least as I understand it.

Now you absolutely need to watch "the entire call of duty zombies storyline explained" by the UA-camr blackopsamazing. It's about an hour long I think he did a pretty good job explaining most of it without making it either too confusing or too oversimplified. It would be the perfect follow up video after this. I'm very happy you finally got into the cod zombies story. It's a little confusing but very interesting story.

I can’t be bothered to explain everything so I’ll leave you with a small bit of knowledge. The talking zombie in the prison is called Brutus. Brutus is the prison guard who was killed by the convicts the first time around comeback as a zombie prison warden who traps poor souls in his own pocket dimension: a purgatory where an endless cycle takes place. In game he’s a tough son of a as well since he can break things that you fix, disable the prison power, appear from literally anywhere and whenever he appears you know it as his footsteps can be felt from anywhere in the prison. Just his running causes the ground to shake.

the first cod zombies game had Takeo the "serious" warrior / Tank the "bad ass" american soldier / Nikolai the "drunken russian with 40 wives" and Dr. Edward Richtofen the "insane german" they were goofy and Tank would occasionally talk to the player. In later cod games they stripped down the goofiness and made them all serious. Thats why in the cell scene the group already in the cell are a bit more goofy mostly nikolai with his vodka and edward with his unforgettable insane voice

As much as I adore this storyline, this has got to be the most confusing way to experience it lmao. It doesn't help that whoever made this cut out some of the most important parts early on(and even a cutscene with Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman!). There are several videos on UA-cam that could give you a decent understanding of the Aether storyline but I would personally recommend watching The Chaos Storyline, Infinite Warfare Zombies, and Exo Zombies cutscenes since they're much easier to follow from the cutscenes alone.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Aether timeline for zombies. With the full background on it, you'd definitely come to appreciate it a lot more. And while I'm not one to plug other videos within my comments normally, I'd have to refer anyone interested in the details to go to Eruption Fang's complete timeline for this storyline. It's extremely detailed and can fill in any gaps you may not have found yourself if you simply didn't play some of the games, or didn't get to finish the stages yourself to get the lore...
PS - I just read the comments below mine suggesting the exact same thing, so I'll add a heads up. Eruption Fang's video is about 6.5 hours long, just to warn you. Still worth it imo. I watched/listened to it in one sitting.

So what you watched was the intros and outros to the maps in the games. Theres like 5 games total and so many many maps to play but they usually come with an intro and outro. These dont really sum up the story of zombies but id love to see you two react to the whole story. Might be a multi part video series if anything haha. The story is bonkers but man when you put the pieces together and get the full picture its such wild ride. Alot of the story ends up being behind each maps easter egg, the surrounding scenery, hidden radios with voice clips and some times non game stuff like comics.

Don’t blame you for being a bit confused, the Nazi zombies storyline is as convoluted as it interesting.
In the original timeline, Richtofen was a member of a top secret German research group called 935, which created new weapons and technologies like teleported pads using a newly discovered substance from a meteorite called Element 115.
In thier attempts to create super soldiers using element 115, it wound up creating zombies instead.
Richtofens superior, Dr.Maxis, lost his daughter in a teleporter accident (which was an attempt by Richtofen to kill him) and she wound up trapped in the Aether, which is another dimension, from which she could exert control over the zombies and began lashing out in rage against the living.
Tank and the others were captured by the Nazi’s at different points around the world and transported to 935’s main base, where Richtofen experimented on them and after the zombies happened - used them to further his plans to remove Samantha from the Aether and take her place as the Zombies “god”, which eventually succeeds in doing.
However Maxis from beyond the grave helps Tank and his daughter launch nuclear missiles on the Earth, wiping out most of humanity and depriving Richtofen of his kingdom, and leaving him only in charge of shambling corpses.
This is where Russman and the others come in, as they trek across the earth trying to fulfill either the wishes of Richtofen or Maxis.
And that’s without going into the alternate timeline stuff xD

The map set in Alcatraz with all the gangsters is Mob of the Dead, a sort of side story to the main story until it gets worked in to the main story in future maps like its reimagining, Blood of the Dead. The gangsters are all trapped in purgatory, forced to repeat a never ending cycle of death until you break that cycle in the map, the zombies arent controlled by the usual forces at work. They're different. Theres a very hellish theme to MoTD.
The zombies storyline is simple at first but as the games progress, things get vastly more complicated. Zombie-making-elements, teleporters, hellhounds, alternate universes, timelines, aliens, cosmic horror. So when Zombies first began there were Easter Eggs. Hidden radios with story, environmental storytelling, etc. It then grew to become full on quests in the maps with multiple steps, bosses, etc. Despite this, we still call it an Easter Egg in the community.
The younger crew of soldiers are the Primis crew. Their older alternate selves are Ultimis. Ultimis is who you play as in CoD World at War, and Black Ops 1. They're deranged stereotypes and hardasses. Primis is who you play as in the final Black Ops 2 map (The rest of the maps you play as the Victis crew, the younger group with the kickass country girl.) and in Black Ops 3 and some of 4. Things were probably originally meant to end with Revelations, but more games means more money and everyone really loves Zombies so they found a way to continue the story beyond that map.
The end of the Aether Storyline and its characters makes me cry because I grew up with these games. I grew up with these characters and their story. I must've been 9 when Black Ops came out. Im 21 now. The end of a story and the end of a life are not much different. Both are remembered in the hearts and memories of those its touched.
