NY’s Verrazano Bridge shifts and groans in High Winds (horrifying)!!

- This was filmed on Dec 3 of this year when the police had to close the Verrazano bridge that is connected between Brooklyn and Staten Island due to higher winds.
Puts you in mind of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in 1940 just before it collapsed.
The bridge plays it's own horror music.
well put...probably the best description of it.
The noise is basically what you would hear in a horror movie.
Try walking across the bridge when it sways up and down. 😳
Suspension bridges are meant to flex with high winds because if it had spans as large as it had while being stiff in the wind, it could collapse. And if it flexes too much in the wind, it will literally tear itself apart like the old Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
stay away from kids thanks
The phobes just can't help themselves istg
The bridge was build to be able to bend and shake like that because if it wasn’t able to do that, it would have broken down because of the winds
damn the articture builder planner have played mother nature 3000 iq
If wherever that creakin is comin from doesn't get some grease eventually.....
Just like the original 1940 Tacoma Narrows Bridge aka “Galloping Gertie”, right?
@@tyrese3745 i saw a show on that once. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge had a couple of major structural and design flaws , causing not being be able to withstand high winds.
still scary
That's not horrifying; it's reassuring.
Never knew old bridge does snore like an old grandpa!
Amazing engineering that it can sustain that. All that material and all that energy.
Just think of the incredible intelligence it took to design it.
Sounds like some kind of huge monster is approaching. Now the camera man just needs to go onto the bridge and record the swaying from the middle of the bridge.
That’s the expansion joints making that noise. Those joints are specifically designed to move like that in high winds. If they didn’t move like that, then very bad things would happen to the bridge!
More likely to manage expansion and contraction during summer and winter season respectively.
Built in the 60s and looks more advanced than 2023
Horrifying? Hardly. Amazing feat of engineering? Absolutely.
Remember the Tacoma bridge in Washington that collapse 50 years ago due to the same circumstances.
It was 82/83 years ago
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapsed in November 1940, 83 years ago.
It's like the bridge is breathing.
and snoring
More like a cello section warming up.
The bridge has pneumonia
The noise is bloodcurdling.
Tacoma Narrows Bridge in November 1940:
Just another reason why physics is awesome
nope..noway, huh uh...bridges like that just give me the creeps
That Bridge sounds like it has seen better days
wow !!! it`s ALIVE !!!!!
This is like tacoma narrows bridge 1940
No wonder there was no traffic on the bridge!
Mmmmm😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 beautiful the arquitect must be happy he just made a dancing bridge with he’s own music
This is how the bridge it's supposed to work
Sounds like something from a Lovecraft story.
This is impressive.
I'd actually like to see the blueprints of this bridge. So ..much....math.
It's sounds like the tripods walking from the 2005 War of the Worlds movie... nope nope and nope....
Its snoring very loudly 🤣🤣🤣
There built that way, suspension bridges need to be able to fluctuate to a degree, that movement would lessen if it had traffic weight on it.
Doing what it was designed to do...though I don't know if that sound is normal
Doesn't sound good, if it doesn't get greased, eventually....
@@JohnShinn1960 honestly I've got no idea what sort of maintenance these expansion joints require. I know they get inspected regularly. This video is actually a year or two old, and the bridge is still open. So it must have passed whatever inspection it most recently had
THE 🌉 IS ALIVE!!! 😱
wow in traffic i was stuck in the middle of that bridge for one hour before traffic started moving again...i didnt know the bridge could have this happen to it
Just imagining that is edging me toward a panic attack.
anyone felt that backrooms nostalgia?
I have a history of the Mississippi bridge
I totally WANT to walk over that bridge while it's doing that and stop on the flex peak to admire the view. It would be a surreal experience (as long as you don't suffer sea-sickness) lol
resonance
thats scary
Fr spices
Put some grease on that thing
Even know its designed to do that, its still freaky.
Even though……
Because science.
Is the sound we hear Godzilla approaching?
Is this Dua Lipa singing? Bridge gonna get sued…..
Don't Get Me Wrong With The Tacoma Narrows Bridge😏😳😨😱
Not even the full video
most normal bridge in ohio
Nah it's probably in California
Hmmm...they could have bypassed this by simply adding more legs to the base...
No additional 'legs' possible. The whole purpose of a long span bridge is to NOT have supports in the navigational channel for ships to strike.
ahh come on, it's fine.. don't be such a wuss
Video theft, not yours to post!
My friend actually posted it
@@jonlosito2004 ok, but not his video. I recorded it!
Don’t accuse my boy like that
