Nice work Kurt! (Jason did ok too LOL). A lot of good examples on UA-cam of how not to build a false floor, so it’s nice to actually see some good workmanship!
I bought a platform exactly like this off a guy on the jl Wrangler forum about a year and a half ago. I think his step dad who was a retired wood worker would make it. Looked exactly like this. Very nice
@@jmarxful Yeah. I have seen one other platform that is similar to mine. The uneven floor is a problem that a lot of people have come up with ideas to solve. Thanks for your comment!! I appreciate it.
This turned out great. I’m getting ready to build a platform for my 2024 4xe and would love to purchase a template with materials list that you used if possible
Sorry for the slow response. I was away travelling. I am in the process of making a. Template and materials list and will post it shortly. Thanks for your comment.

Looks good. I don't have a 4Xe let alone a JL. Just purchased an 18 JKU and just looking at various ideas. I'm in the middle of cutting up a way smaller platform to go over my seats when folded down, for the dog to have a spot without accidentally getting his paws trapped by any weird spaces. My trunk area is covered by a diabolical slipstream. I think it would be cool if you posted a template or made it where some one could reach out and order a template for a fair price. Other than that good job. I think I would have got annoyed by that hump also.
Thanks for your input. I have considered selling plans or taking orders and building them for anyone who wants one for a price of course. I think that a platform like this can be useful for non 4xe owners as well and could be adapted to accommodate a drawer system, slide outs for a cooler, fridge, storage bins or whatever. There is also the added benefit of hidden storage that is not visible from outside which would be especially beneficial for soft top owners. I will see what I can come up with.
Yes. I plan on doing so. It’s been a crazy summer and I haven’t gotten around to it and right now I am out of town for a few weeks but I will post it when I can. Thanks for your comment.

This is great! Since one must lift seats' cushions and lean them against the backseat, how much space is there from the tailgate to those lifted seat cushions? How tall or short must one be to sleep on top of the platform? Thank you
Good question! I am 6’4” so sleeping in the back is not really an option for me but I know that many people do sleep in their jeeps and I am sure the space would be similar although with a little less headroom. I will measure it up this evening to give you an exact number on the length of the back.
I just measured the jeep with the seats down and straight from the flipped up seat bottom to the tailgate is almost exactly 5 feet. But if you lay on the diagonal that expands to almost 6 feet so I believe it could be reasonably comfy for most people under 5’10”and if you don’t mind curling up maybe even taller than that.
Thank you sop much I appreciate that. For now I just bought a 5"" tall storage bin that fits nicely underneath the false floor. But I am in the process of designing a drawer that I am planning to build at some point this summer that will fit perfectly. I am going to make it so that I can remove it easily so that I can fit larger items if necessary and if I need to access the under floor storage cubby.
Hahaha!! We actually looked very seriously at a Trailhawk 4xe as it would be a little more luxurious and comfortable for road trips while still being a capable 4x4. Ultimately my wife loves the wrangler so we went that option but the GC is beautiful.
I am posting a video in the next few days where I review the platform and share a template and all the dimensions. I will post a link here in the comments for this video. My 4xe is a 2023 but as far as I know it will fit exactly the same for every year 4xe with the Alpine stereo and subwoofer. If you don’t have the subwoofer you will have to adapt the passenger side of the platform slightly.

It would cost about $150 to do the whole project if you needed to buy everything. Things like wood glue, screws, brad nails and all the tools I already had so I only had to buy the plywood, primer, truck bed/undercoat spray, carpet and spray adhesive. Thank you so much for your comment.
Thank you for your input. I hope that it works well for you I am just about to post a 12 month review of the deck with dimensions and some more details and am currently working on a drawer for under the deck. Tune in soon for those videos.
I live in Canada and bought it at a store called Canadian Tire. It’s a big chain store up here. You could probably find a similar product at auto parts store in the states as well as long as your carpet is black. If it’s not it will be much harder to get.
@jaystevens too funny! I was just trying to make myself useful. Kurt had a back injury from a recent mountain bike ride we did q few days prior, so I figured it better to do the work at my place with a clean garage, a pop-up tent, and me to help spot him as necessary. His back held up great, so i got to play camera man and narrator.
Thanks Jason. Having you there made a big difference. Knowing I had help with the big cuts helped me not worry about my sore back and having you take care of some of the video allowed me to tinker without having to worry about the camera.
