    Natives and people from california that come here often know whats up, if safety is your main concern, avoid Tijuana and the border. Expats houses are closer to Ensenada and Rosarito and for vacationing they go to La Paz in Baja California Sur and also El mar de cortez. Edit, yes Ive noticed there is a lot of recycling culture going on, this wasnt here a few years ago, Oxxos also not giving plastic bags anymore and instead offer eco friendly bags or selling reusable bags and reusing old materials for new things.

Kinda of an eye sore and probabbly bad for the environment but good for business. Hopefully things shape up soon. We would definitely like to enjoy the town some more. We just haven't done enough around here because of this mess. Hey have you heard of any good beaches near La Bufadora? I keep on hearing there is a good beach around there?

    The one thing people never discuss about moving that moving is mostly psychological. Once one gets past the differences, or the newness of it, you'll find it pretty much the same anywhere you go. Beach sunsets there can't be beaten though, or the seafood. Everything else people think does not exist in mexico can be readily attained with money.

      Hi Kale, Thank you for wathcing! Unfortunately that is the case. There's a big port and its a cruise ship stop. The good thing is that it’s only Ensenada beach close to the city that's the issue (their working on cleaning it up). The closest beach after that is close to the Macroplaza where the Walmart is located. Its called Pacifica beach. It’s actually a beautiful beach and we definitely recommend it. Close to the the toll booth entering Ensenada you will find Playa San Miguel. You can camp or stay there overnight for a small fee but it's clean. It's a little small and rocky so it's probably not the best place to dive in. Our favorite beach is Playa Peninsula heading towards La Bufadora. It's a ways down but its definitely worth it if your in the area. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching!

      Just like in the U.S. Its all a matter of where you are. I don't know the statistics of car theft in Mexico but I can tell you that near border towns you see a lot of vehicles from the U.S. In Ensenada there are a lot of California folk. I personally am not worried about something like this happening but I would do my research on specific areas you plan to visit. There are a lot of potholes though. So be ready for that.

    Hi! I’m looking into moving to Ensenada with my parents! I have a job in California but I’m looking for a change in my life, would you recommend moving and getting a job in Ensenada? 19 y/o btw

    • @BraveFamilyTravel
      @BraveFamilyTravel  3 роки тому +2

      Hi there! Thank you for checking out our content:). So that’s awesome! Congrats on your decision to change things up. First and foremost I would recommend looking for a job online. Remember the dollar goes way farther than the peso. There are so many jobs online now a days that I’m pretty sure you’ll find something that will fit your needs. You can even buy things from the U.S. and sell them there. You’re going to be close to SD so you’ll have access to things from there. You can cross over no more than $500 worth of stuff every time you cross. I would look into more but coming into Mexico is easy and it’s rare that they’ll stop you. Get a VPN! If you plan to work online from Mexico you’re most likely going need it. You can also use it for Netflix and it’ll give you online security. I suggest Nord VPN. It works really well and they always have good deals. If you decide to work in Mexico, remember you have to be Mexican to work there. Get your birth certificate and INE from Mexico as fast as you can. If your parents are Mexican it should be fairly easy to get but it might take a while. If they aren’t, it’ll be somewhat difficult to get a job unless it’s under the table but I honestly wouldn’t suggest it because you have so many opportunities online that why bother. Plus it’ll set you up to live anywhere in the world in the future. It’s pretty darn cool to be able to do that, believe me. Ensenada is pretty cool! There is a pretty cool vibe there. I’m pretty sure you’ll make friends fast. But as always just take your normal precautions. Don’t get into anything that could get you in trouble. All in all, your going to have a good time. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, good luck.

      Hi there, thank you for watching our content:). I think you can pull it off. Visa wise I don’t know how that would look like for you. So I wouldn’t be helpful with that. Once your here if your working online you would be good. All depending on how much you make of course. To get to Raleigh, NC you would have to cross to the U.S. and that might be another challenge depending on your situation. From California you can easily fly to NC. You’ll have a good time in Mexico. Amazing video, a lot of useful information, what website you would recommend to look for long term rentals or contact Airbnb owners ?

    • @BraveFamilyTravel
      @BraveFamilyTravel  4 роки тому +6

      Thank you:). I would suggest starting with an Airbnb for a month. That way you can scout out Ensenada and see what area you like the most. It also depends on things like internet etc. If you work remotely you’re definitely going to need that. Not every place has good internet unfortunately. Once you’re here you can connect with people here that can offer you better rates than AirBnB. If you want local prices you need to talk to the locals. People are very friendly here and there are a lot of places to stay.
      Facebook marketplace is a great place to look for property managers handling several properties or for short term rentals that are furnished. Of course there are also long term rentals.
      Always ask for Speedtest to ensure internet speed... people’s definition of strong or fast internet can be different from yours.

It can start off chilly with clouds, then get hot, then cloudy with some sprinkling, hot again and then usually chilly at night. People here wear sweaters even in the heat because it could change suddenly. It’s odd but it also depends on where you are. El Valle De Guadalupe is considered to have a Mediterranean style climate. I find downtown Ensenada and El Sauzal (also Ensenada) is very similar to San Diego. More on the temperate side of things. I personally think Sl Sauzal is a little cooler than downtown. Also depends on the time of the year of course. It’s mostly very pleasant and sunny with a light breeze. I hope that helps! Sorry so late on the reply. Thank you again!

As for jobs in Ensenada it all depends on what you do. Even most Mexicans in the area don't make that much. It all depends though. If you're from the U.S. no need to work in Ensenada. We do not work down here. Especially during these times I think it’s important to add to local economies, so we run our businesses online and that way we can live anywhere while also supporting the local community with jobs and our support as consumers.
      We are huge supporters and always recommend transitioning online, as this is a good way to guarantee you can live anywhere. Otherwise if you are in the tourism, hospitality, wine or beer worlds, there are lots of jobs related to that down here.

    ...Hola/Greetings: First, all you need to learn Spanish, and always get peso’s before visiting Mexico. Before visiting Baja Mexico Norte know the directions, rules or places to visit in advance. Do not rely on Goggle Maps. The other thing is to read up on the U.S. government sites or bajabound.com before you consider moving as well. Learn what you can take and not take into Mexico or back to USA. Those seeking directions, quit asking, look it up its all online and on you tube use key words.
    Most important, if you do not like Mexican's or their culture, stop pretending you do. If you can't get along with them then do not move here. If your prejudice and want to boss them around, then turn around and leave. Respect the people…it’s not AMERICA, the next generation is educated and taking over and are doing a great job of improving city infrastructures and holding people accountable for their actions. They have a lively city council and progressive leadership who are working to improve things as I write this. Honor them, and stop putting down Mexicans. Stop being critical of their way life is here, it’s simple and the people living here like it just the way it is, not to fast of change is good.
    Important Side Notes:
    1. Never tell anyone how much money you have to spend or use if considering buying a home or not. Read up on how to rent or buy a home or how to live there. Gringo gazette Norte; Stay in a hotel and drive around and meet others. Research first and do not be lazy. Internet is fast. Do your homework. Check the weather, etc. Baja is not for everyone!
    2. Never EVER SHOW a police man or woman or anyone in Mexico how much money you’re carrying, they will take it from you, somehow. If you are pulled over for a traffic violation, never show the police cash; only carry about $50 bucks in your wallet, hide the rest. They will extort cash from you and give you false information and ask you to follow them to a police station where they will block you car, then go inside to see the station clerk to ask about how much the fine is; they know how much it is but play a game to seek a higher amount; the city does not post the fines so the police officer can make it up as much as they want to. You have a right to speak to a traffic judge there in the station, ask for him/her and pay the fine directly to them if you lose the case. Not to the cop. Charge it. Tell them you have no cash.
    If you have others with you, film/video record this traffic violation stop, and if you suspect a bribe or criminal activity dial 911 and report the officer on the spot. They will ask to speak to him, and get his badge number or card. Take a photo then post on you- tube. Do not buy drugs anywhere in Mexico, they may be undercover. Pot is still illegal till they publish the rules (2022-2023). Officers will make up a law on the spot to extort money from you.
    3. Watch out for sales people gouging prices at La Bufadora and other tourists spots.
    4. If considering moving to Enseñada, Go to restaurants where Americans eat; like La Marina, or Sharkey’s or Mama Bears or Gordo’s restaurants. Look them up and talk to people eating there, they will guide you on the best approach to learn about moving there. There are other communities in Enseñada besides the places towards the La Bufadora folks, this places does not have much more rentals at all. And not all American know where else to live, ask a Mexican. May the Great Spirit guide you all wisely as you consider relocation to this region.

    Hello! I am happy to find your channel. I went to Merida, MX 3 months ago and was plannig to move there but having family in CA and Arizona makes me think...why not move closer? SO I am trying to find connections. I currently will be moving from Thailand ( last 5 years) and moving 6 suitcases and 3 dogs without going thru the USA. CDC ban. Anywho if you cn recommend good house rental sites and expat groups I would love to start making connections in preparation for a BIG move across the world in the next 3 months. Thank you !!!!

      Hi there, thank you for checking out our channel:P. Congrats on the plan to move! Merida is pretty cool and very affordable and Ensenda can be as well. As for expat groups I don't know too many but ill do some reasearch and get back to you on that. At the moment we have more connections with the locals. Right now you can find some good deals on airbnb. We were checking a couple of days ago and we found some very affordable places in some great locations. I would maybe spend a month in an airbnb and then scope out the place. Find the area that you like the best and then decide to move. You can maybe even leave some stuff or sell some stuff before you change to your next place. We love Thailand, definitely would love to go right about now. Being close to family is always nice, so I think you're making a good choice. As for staying there a long period of time. I would check how long Mexico is letting people stay. I've been hearing some rumors about people only being able to stay 7 days. So definitely research how long you can be there. I'm assuming you're a US citizen so I think you'll be fine, so you'll get about 6 months but I'm pretty sure you can be there longer, but do your research. Let me know if you find a general place that you're looking at. We love being little away from the main part of the city and closer to the coast in the Sauzal area. I think you might like that area too. Good luck I'll keep you posted on that info. Take care and good luck.

    Im interested in buying a vacation home in Ensenada but don’t know what parts are to be avoided 😵‍💫 any help on that? I’ve seen a couple nice homes in “Las Lomitas” how is that area in your experience

    • @BraveFamilyTravel
      @BraveFamilyTravel  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there, thank you for coming to our channel! So in our opinion there are way better places than Las Lomitas to buy a vacation home. It also depends on what you want? If you want to be closer to downtown and have a vacation home sure Las Lomitas is great. It’s right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle which is fun for some and it’s considered safe, although the roads are a little rough but honestly that’s all of Ensenada. So get yourself a 4x4, although you don’t have to I recommend it. We personally like El Sauzal. It’s away from downtown but not too far away. Depending on where in El Sauzal it’ll take you about 35 to 15 minutes to get to downtown. El Sauzal is very close to the beach but the beach isn’t as easily accessible. There are some very cool places to eat on this part of Ensenada and the weather is ideal. It’s what I call the San Diego of Mexico, but don’t quote me on that lol, just my opinion. It’s very temperate. One perk of living close to downtown is that the beach is right there and all the big shopping areas are there (Costco, Walmart, the black market etc). I don’t recommend it though because it’s polluted. If you want to be right next to the beach I would go towards La Bufadora. There are some home opportunities there that are popping up in one of the best beaches in Ensenada which is Baja Beach Cove. You can also get a vacation home in El Valle De Guadalupe. It’s beautiful there. Perfect place for a Mexican country home with vineyards and some of the best restaurants in all of Mexico. The vibe there is amazing and it’s world renowned because of its wine culture. It does get hot. Very similar to a desert climate. Ensenada is full of micro climates of all types, you just have to filter them out based on what you prefer. I hope this helps. Ensenada is home for us, we love it. Good luck on finding your dream home!

      Hi there, thanks for checking out our content:P. To answer your question, you can buy property through a bank through a process called Fideicomiso or you can start a Mexican Corporation with your buddy. Both have their hurdles but starting a corporation seems to be the easiest and fastest process. You can probably do all of this within a month. With a Fideicomiso the bank owns the land but it holds no responsiblity for it. So you can basically do whatever you want with it and even pass it down in your will. There are pros and cons to both but you definitely can build that hut:P.

      @@ysaacpicazo4152 Hey thanks for subscribing. So we've been traveling for a while now and seriously we've never encountered one issue in any place. As far as Ensenada, I feel safer here than in California. As long as you're not involved in anything weird, you and your family should be fine. Of course like In any place you need to take precautionary measures but as long as you do, you are good. This place needs tourism and as far I know, they welcome you with open arms. Do you have a motorhome/rv/camper? There are so many beautiful places to take your RV with your family. If not you can rent an AirBnb here like us. We've driven all the way down from Cali to Cabo crossed over in a ferry and kept on going down to Colima with a trailer. As an American citizen you can be here for 6 months. If you want to stay here forever well you would have to figure out how to can immigrate. If you are of Mexican descent then the process is easy to get your papers. Other than that honestly nobody is going to be looking at how long you've been in Mexico. But I always urge people to listen to their government laws etc.

      Hi there, thank you for watching our content. Is there anything I can answer for you? After living there on and off by now, I know we have a better scope on what it’s like. I believe an updated version of this would be helpful actually. We were living there during the pandemic, so things were a little different at that time. In this video we highlight what we personally liked about Ensenada and why it’s a pretty cool place to move too so an in-depth video highlighting details would require a way longer video, with way more input on specifics. During our time there we lived in Solana Residencial, and Casa Club De Puerta Del Mar (close to Costco). So we didn’t live in downtown but we definitely know it pretty well. Downtown is really touristy and I don’t really recommend it for families. Cost has changed as well. Things are rapidly becoming much more expensive. Especially housing. City life there is busy, it all depends on where you are. Ensenada is pretty darn big. We’ll try to get a more detailed version that will explain more in-depth details. Thanks again for watching!

      Hey Doug, thanks for checking out our content:). So we have two pups Mojito and Shampoo and it’s been great having them in Ensenada. We spend about 750 pesos for their grooming every time we do it and it’s for both with at home pickup. That’s about $35 USD. Vets here are super affordable and there is a lot of medicine available for them as well. One of our pups, Shampoo being a Tibetan Las Apso is having an issue with this eyes and his medicine here is about 700 pesos (32.50 USD) for three bottles that help lubricate his eyes. This lasts him about 6 months. That same medicine I know for sure would cost way more in the states. The best thing though is the communication we have with the Vets. We just WhatsApp any information needed. Their vaccines are super affordable as well. So all in all it’s worth it and I would definitely recommend.

    Is Puerto Vallarta cheaper to live than Baja California?

    • @BraveFamilyTravel
      @BraveFamilyTravel  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there, thank you for viewing our content! So in our opinion we believe Puerto Vallarta might just be a little bit more expensive than Ensenada. Although it depends on what you're planning to do? Staying in the wine region (El Valle De Guadalupe) of Ensenada will cost you way more. It's a very popular area to visit these days. If you're trying to stay in Ensenada long term I believe you'll save more when it comes down to cost per average day. You can find some really cheap rent here. Food is available quite litterally everywhere, and its so good. Puerto Vallarta has more of a tourist vibe, which in our experience usually means more expensive. Staying there longer or shorter will cost more and I'm pretty sure you can find some amazing food for good prices but we believe it's still a little bit more than in Ensenada. Although you can't compete with Puerto Vallarta's beaches. Especially if your going for more of a carribean (warmer water) feel. The views in Ensenada are spectacular but I'm not a big fan of getting into the water here. It's just too cold and since its a port town it might not be the cleanest. Check out this link, it'll give you a better perspective into both places. www.budgetyourtrip.com/compare/puerto-vallarta-vs-ensenada-3991328-4006702

As an American you can definitely live here. Technically you have 6 months, that is If you get a Mexican Visa. Usually if your flying out of say Tijuana you’ll be required to get a visa which currently cost 900 MXN pesos or 44 USD. I do recommend you get it but that’s up to you. We’re really loving it here. I’ve met some people from the US that come in their trailers and end up staying here the rest of their lives. Hi there, thank you for watching our content. We really appreciate your feedback. Sergio, danger is relative. Even driving outside is one of the most dangerous things you can do, but we all do it. We love Mexico, and I think the people of Mexico are some of the best people in the world. So yes there are bad people out there but that doesn’t mean Mexico is not safe. We love Mexico for many reasons and one of the reasons we love it so much is because family is a big deal here. Honestly we feel safer here than in many places in the world. All we can do is hope that nothing will ever happen, but we can never be 100% sure. You can apply that in every corner of the planet and we’ve done it. Sure the dollar goes a long way here, but I know a lot of Mexican people that do well here despite not having dollars. They have land, homes, cars, you name it and they’ve never left Mexico. So that again is also relative to everyone. What we want is to help people get over the fear of travel. A lot of people don’t want to do it because they think it’s “dangerous.” I’ve been told all of my life not to go anywhere because it’s “dangerous.” We want to live our best lives, that’s the best we can do, and we want to pass that on to everyone we know.
