  • Terry has spent decades researching domestic and international terrorism-a topic deeply personal to her. In this talk, she lays out the key characteristics that could point to potential radicalization. She flips "see something, say something" on its head by suggesting that we should also "do something." However, that something may not be exactly what you would think. Dr. Terry Oroszi is the Director of the Graduate and the Chemical Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Programs at Wright State University. Her subject matter expertise is Homeland Security, with several collaborations in CBRN, terrorism, and crisis decision-making. The founder and chair of The Dayton Think Tank, a gathering of regional crisis leaders, Dr. Oroszi has shared her research on American terrorists with NSA, at Quantico, and members of Congress in DC. In her free time, she authors a fiction book series, currently in production for TV, and recently acted in a movie short for the international film festival circuit and received a nomination for best-supporting actress. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Being born to a couple of parents both of whom have disabilities makes that person more vulnerable to extremists too. Children who are very intelligent who feel securely attached to both of their parents have a much better chance of thriving and succeeding after being born into a home like that.

Thank you, Dr. Oroszi this video was very informative and I will be sharing this video. Like you, I believe as a whole community we can help direct peers, strangers, and family members to steer away from participating in Violent Extremism before they harm people and or themselves. All the tips and suggestions were helpful tools.
