Eff YES! I can't thank you enough. I've been trying to help my mom with her car and this piece of info was absolutely essential. I searched online and through videos for at least an hour before finally finding you. You've helped this son help his aging mom and save her some money, so if you find yourself in a good mood or having a good day in the near future, it's because I'm sending you gratitude and good karma 🙌
I was so happy when I found out how to do this in our Accord. I don't understand why they don't mention this in the owners manual. Oh and btw, once the oil life and maintenance codes start blinking, you don't need to have to shut the car off. Just press the trip/reset button ONCE and it will stop blinking and just display oil life again.
+thecarexpert21 Im not sure why they dont mention it, and it seems a lot of people dont even know its possible. If you reset the oil life before 15%, it will only show the code during reset, and some people like to perform the service early.
Good advice but not sure if it is really shows the next service. I know for sure that my Odyssey is about 2000 miles until next ATF change - it shows that code an every 30k miles. Yet it is only A1 appearing when I follow your step, not number 3 which is for ATF
I do my own maintenance. I have 2018 Honda Civic Hatch. Easy to reset oil/filter l to 100 percent after change , but rest of car is fully inspected now with B light still showing. How Do I reset" B "after all maintenance for B is done??? Secret, I dont wish to go back to dealer and probably pay for the service light to be reset either! Thanks
so when you hold down the trip button, it will only display either A or B and one of the 6 sub codes? basically which ever one is closer to be serviced? does the % only adhere to the life of the oil or all of the 6 things? i bought a 2015 honda accord and it came with no owners manual. they said they did the first oil change for me but the % was at 15% when i got it. idk if they forgot to reset it or didnt do it. im worried that if i reset it it will go back to 100% and not the actually % from havingdriven it for a month. when i pull my dipstick out the oil looks like a month old, so im worries that if im reseting it a month after the oil change ill be late on the next one as well. ive reset the trip meter when i drove out the lot and had planned to go in for a oil change at the KM the warrenty wants me to. i did all this in mind cause i had no idead how to fully ready everything on the display, and no owners manual.. lol
Nope. Reset the oil life timer by doing the following: [from oilreset.com] 1) Turn the ignition to run (one click before starting the engine). 2) Press the SELECT/RESET knob repeatedly until the engine oil life indicator % is shown. 3) Press and hold the SELECT/RESET knob for more than 10 seconds. The oil life % will begin to blink. Release the SELECT/RESET knob. 4) Press and hold the SELECT/RESET knob for for more than 5 seconds. The oil life indicator % will change to 100%. When servicing this vehicle it might be a good idea to understand the types of fluids Honda recommends: Engine Oil - 0W20 is recommended for year round use Engine Coolant - Honda Long Life Anti-Freeze/Coolant Type 2 Automatic Transmission - Honda ATF DW-1 Manual Transmission - Honda MTF Brake /Clutch Fluid - Honda Heavy Duty Dot 3 Power Steering - Honda PSF
I’m due for an oil change today, my car is 2017 Honda Accord exl at 37k miles, I’m afraid they will try and sell me something my car doesn’t need, this video is helpful, but do you know when should spark plugs should be changed? And is it necessary for a break flush every 3 yrs?
Consult your Owner's Manual. If it says replace break fluid every 3 years then do it. I have a 2018 Honda HR-V EX and it says on its owner's manual to replace the break fluid every 3 years.
im an uber driver and have put 77K on my 2017 accord in a little over 2 years. I changed all the fluids at 35K but havent done anything since. Im getting ready to change them all again at 80K..For the life of me I cant find anywhere where it says when I should do these flushes. Also what about spark plugs and serpentine belt?
Hi, thanks for your video...very helpful. Wonder if you could help me out. Just bought a 2008 Honda Fit. When I turn on the AC, the car seems to shudder when I stop at a light or stop sign. The car doesn't die, but it sure sounds like it's struggling. Other than that, the car seems to run pretty well without any issues. Is this something that should concern me? Thanks for your help.
Need to look up the word pithy. Then apply it to your future videos so people don't have to scroll fast forward to find the real data they need. Hit it Danno! "Just the FACTS Mam!"

Really useful. Just purchased an older CR-V and this has given me some idea of whats due. Many thanks !

Just checked on 2 Hondas - gives you either A1 or B1 but not the rest of codes (e.g. ATF you mentioned wouldn't show)
So we can see the codes, any idea how to reset them? I swapped out my air filters but still saying they need to be swapped.
thank you for this!
After doing that to view my code, I was trying to get back to the normal screens, it did a reset on my oil life. And the code changed from a1 to b1.
That was very helpful! Thank you!
This was awesome! Thank you so much!

Do the codes disappear after I’ve taken care of the problem??

Can the CVT transmission fluid life percentage be checked somehow? 2014 Accord.

Battery might be getting weak. When the a/c compressor kicks in it might be putting a strain on the electrical system. Just a guess
thanks! saved my time!
Would you recommend draning an filling transmission if millage is at 30k
If you want to spend $ unnecessarily. 50-60k miles is what is recommended.
thank you so much. THis is great.
Thanks very helpful
Thanks awesome video!!!
Thanks a lot.
What’s A 14 oil life
Helpful, but could have been 30 seconds instead of 2:24.

Could you possibly waste any more time rambling??
