Don't need too much hotels in St. Thomas. Young people need to develop the brain for manufacturing and creative, even tradepersons. Tourism is too servitude. Idle brains go to sleep or create trouble.
I pray like many others this comes to pass, just looking at the plans I can't help but get excited. For a long time while visiting family throughout the years I would wonder what is going on. Lord let it be so..and more importantly that the people would appreciate and take care of it...#progress
Urban sprawl, new higher fire ladder, underground parking, build vertically and save valuable farmland. Solar and wind energy, buildings with elevators, so seven or more floors.
I hope the 500 parking space that was mention is not the total parking space in this complex. There should be a multistory car park between the Town Hall, Conference Center and Shopping area. If the BPO Sector can facilitate 3000 employee where are the parking for all those people?
I am not from st Thomas but I am a jamaican and so I love my jamaica and I to see st Thomas and Portland get what is over due and hopefully st Mary in the not so far further. Infrastructure developments like these will create better jamaica for us all with a more stable economy alongside great management. Then we focus more and more on the devils which are criminals and crime.
How can this be integrated with the existing town from the beginning so that Morant Bay can also benefit from the investment, not as a byproduct but as an directive objective? I think this "campus style" development, separate from the town centre is dated and favours people who own cars. Overall this looks great though and well needed for Morant Bay. I just hope we can become familiar with current methods being used in the best planned cities and adapt them to our needs.
Fantastic however since Jamaica is a small Island pls consider multi storey buildings to maximize spaces efficiently. Retain spaces for recreational, agriculture and gated communties. No debt the citizens and jamaïcains can but avares to finance this.
I am currently living in the UK and I am seriously considering relocating to Jamaica. If your plans for St Thomas are put into fruition; St Thomas would be my preferred destination. However, I am interested to know what are the plans for people who are disabled. In terms of inclusion in accessing the planned development and the overall community environment? I think this is a great opportunity for planners to reinvent, at least, one area in Jamaica that put disabled and wheelchair using residents and visitors on a level footing with everyone else. Promoting St Thomas as a friendly and inclusive environment and city to everyone. Disabled individuals have limited options to choose; make it accessible to them and it would be accessible to everyone.
@@marciaallen2144 The property will also be bigger than originally planned. Size increased from 365,000 square feet to 436,000 square feet. Cost: US$40 million. A major upgrade and blessing for Saint Thomas and eastern Jamaica.
@Oral A Campbell Wow, Oh, Wow!! I will definitely be visiting once the work is completed. I can appreciate your excitement. Exciting days ahead for you and St Thomas.
@@marciaallen2144 I am just happy to see Jamaica developing with these significant, lifestyle changing projects island wide. From Saint Thomas and Portland in the east to Westmoreland and Hanover in the western side of Jamaica. The major airports and seaports are also being improved.
This is the time for Jamaican overseas to come together and invest back in Jamaica .look three or four Jamaican can come together and do some real estate in St Thomas .
How can you say that st.thomas has a high illiteracy rate? At this time? Since the 1960s to date there have been so many success stories from this parish. Some of our fathers and great-grandfathers we're technocrats. Why do you people have to be so messy?
Can people stop being so mean about other people. I am from St. Thomas and disagreed with this comment about illiteracy in St. Thomas. There are doctors nurses and other highly qualified people from this parish. We have travel abroad or other parish because there not enough jobs within the parish for our qualifications. Thank you
Nice. Also, need a lot more trees otherwise the place will be a frying pan. Going forward, cheap or free high speed internet will minimize the need for office space as well as bringing the world to Jamaica's doorstep (making good social programs to spread the wealth all the more important). There is also a need for electrical vehicle charging stations. The planners have also under estimated the value and utility of renewable energy in general. In particular, pumped hydro via a towers should be considered as part of the facility plan, both as a mechanism to keep the solar panels cool as well as provide water pressure to the area in addition to functioning as an storage battery for the solar panel excess energy. Wind turbines aren't necessary and becomes a nuisance so close to habitation. Put up more panels instead.

I understand perfectly. I grew up there, love the mountains and rivers, the fresh air. I remember the days when Good Year was open along wuth all the other factories in the parish, then nothing. I want to be hopeful too but I have seen so many persons come with plans over the years and we still can see nothing going on. Plus we don't have proactive representation in parliament. Every parish pretty much needs this type of development
There is SO MUCH land in St Thomas...in time the area can rival Ochie and MoBay with real estate and hotel development...looking good!
And it’s ideally located. Just a stone throw away from Kingston

if the government don't have the money to build it sell shares to all Jamaican that live all over the world and Jamaican at home
The design need to factor in apartments for workers and surrounding community. A few 10 story apartment blocks can easily remedy the situation.
