I just noticed, the 2 holes inside the slider/cylinder are not align with holes inside of the carburetor. For that the diaphragms' notch/ear must be planned at right place while instaling them.
The real challenge rebuilding these HSC40 Hitachi carburetor is replacing diaphragms. removing older is a nightmare. I am looking to replace the full assembly (diaphragms with slides) Did you buy this kit from eBay?
you obviously were not aware that there is a difference between front and rear carb needle size. also the floats in the kit also measure different than the original ones .

Any idea what the small black O rings are for? Also. Did you miss a washer on the main jet?
They are for the tunes in-between the carbs that the gas goes throught

I only bought diaphragms wd40 and having finger nails helps install them but u r right it is not easy

why didn't you also change the emulsion tube? You didn't put a gasket under the mixture richness adjustment screw.
It was press in and I couldn't get it out so I soaked carb in cem dip for a few days to clean tube and compressed air
