Mike inviting her on stage is amazing, but what's even more amazing to me is how he presented it: It wasn't 'I invited her'. It was 'I asked her if she would come and she agreed'- he wasn't doing her a favor by inviting her to play on stage, SHE was doing HIM a favor by agreeing to do so. And even though he plays piano on numb and it would be completely reasonable if he stayed and played with her, he stepped off stage to not distract people from her and let her get all the attention- and again, he didn't stand at the side by his piano, he completely walked away to give her her moment. It's stuff like that that make me appreciate Mike even more. He's not egotistical, he's more than happy to let others get recognition.
I really love to see the evolution of Mike's solo concerts. It's been a long way since he first hit the road, you could tell, back then, that he was, still, shocked by Chester's passing. Nowadays, of course, he still grieves his loss, as we all do, but he's really steppin' up his game, bringing collabs to the stage, doing other LP songs, letting Matt sing some of them.... Some people say he moved too fast and this is disrespectful to other LP members, but I think it's an honest way to mourn his loss, he's sharing it with the fans, and the energy exchange, in my point of view, really helps both sides in this equation. Chester would be proud, I think. Mike is a strong, enlightened man. May he find blessings in his path, with or without LP.
People say he was being disrespectful to the other band members, really? Don't they know that he talked with them beforehand and asked them if it's alright, and they supported him? That they congratulated him when the album came out, promoted it on the band's social media accounts, checked in on him to see how he's doing on tour, and Dave and Joe even came up on stage with him and played some songs? It seems to me like more than enough proof that the other guys don't think it's disrespectful...
And he wrote Crossing a Line as an open letter to the guys and to the fans who would pick on him for touring. He knew people would talk nonsense shit about him. I'm glad he crossed that bridge before people got to it.
Es war ein geiles Publikum. Und ich feiere noch immer die Sitzplätze! Great show! Und ich hatte schon Angst die Vorband, Don Broco, reißt die Hütte komplett ab!
