"Getting people off race bikes that aren't racing." After many years of primarily being a racer, a fat tire road bike completely changed my relationship to bicycles and made riding fun again, like when I was a kid. Another great podcast.
Kyle speaks so many truths; as a bike-shop owner himself it's refreshing to hear his take on disappearing bike-shops when every other owner is just mourning the internet. Should I every come to LA I will definitely visit GSC! Cheers from Germany!
Kyle and his compadres live up to the statements. I went in to GSC on a suggestion from my friends in Colorado Springs, I was moving back to LA. I rode there and felt welcomed. I really love this shop. I did a coffee ride and further embedded my love for them. Sadly they are closing. A true jewel will be lost. I hope he opens the bicycle pizza place! All the love for Golden Saddle and PLP! I almost always buy from LBS first. ❤🚲
I'm totally binging on PLP today instead of working. Awesome interview and great to hear Kyle's view on running a bike shop and the philosophy involved in building a great sense of community. These are the exact sort of places we should all be supporting with our $. Looking to buy my first fat tire road bike soon so will make the trip up from OC to Golden Saddle to have them help me out. Seems like a great shop and my kind of people.
Any pointers to resources that can be used to find gravel (non-paved) routes? Sites like gravelmap.com are great but still pretty sparse. Thus the question: how to find out what is private versus public so I can plan a route?

Which part of the country are you looking at?
wondering the same thing.
Path Less Pedaled Mainly Northern California (Bay Area) but Oregon as well.
I’d start with RidewithGPS. ESP their Ambassador routes. Near PDX, look up Out Mother the Mountain.
